wikiHow:University
wikiHow University is a 6 week writing class, which is being offered tuition free to wikiHow editors. You can sign up for this class at the bottom of this page.
Why is wikiHow offering a free writing class?
wikiHow has an educational mission. Our how to manual has already taught millions of people how to do 36,469 different things. Yet, the main beneficiaries of the free education are wikiHow's volunteer editors. Volunteer editors improve their skills in writing, project management, and collaboration. wikiHow University is an attempt to offer formal education to supplement the informal education wikiHow editors already enjoy.
The fact that wikiHow shows advertisements to non-registered users, allows us to pay tuition for all students.
About the Class
The class is being taught by Gotham Writers'
Workshop of New York City. It will be six weeks long, and will
be conducted entirely online with 16 students. The materials for a
particular lesson will be available 24 hours a day for an entire
week. This will permit anyone from any time zone to participate in
the class. The class will be taught by an experienced instructor
from the Gotham Writer's Workshop, and will have a lesson, a
discussion and a writing assignment with feedback from the
instructor and from the class. See the links below for more
information. The class is not a general writing class, but rather a
class geared specifically towards teaching how to write better
how-to's.

Date
The start date is still to be determined. We expect it will start at some point from mid May to early July. The class will last 6 weeks.
Who can attend
The class is open to all active wikiHow editors from any country or time zone. If more than 16 people sign up, the most active wikiHow editors will be selected first. A wait list will be maintained in case people need to drop out before the start of class. If this class is successful, we will plan another one soon, so those on the wait list will probably have another chance.
Because wikiHow is covering all the costs, we request that anyone who takes the class participate fully. We won't be able to get a refund if you don't go to class, so we ask that only people who are sincerely interested in the opportunity sign up.
