How to Revert Vandalism in wikiHow

While most wikiHow articles improve with each edit, occasionally, an article may be altered in a destructive manner, due to vandalism. Follow this procedure to revert to a previous version of an article:

- 1Decide if an edit is truly vandalism. Look for:

- "removing all content from page"
- "this site has just been hacked"
- "replaced page with"
- addition of spam links
- 2Click on the History tab, at the top of an article, to access all previous versions.
- 3Search for the most current and well-written version. In this example, the chosen version was written by Jack Herrick.
- 4Click on the date, to the left of the editor's name, to view your chosen version.
- 5Click on the Edit tab at the top of the article.
- 6Add any vital information from any other versions that are about to be omitted.
- 7Click on Preview, at the bottom of the article, to review each succeeding version.
- 8Write a note in the Edit Summary, at the bottom of the article, to clarify your edit.
- Example: "Revert to pre-vandalized version."
- 9Click on Publish, at the bottom of the article, to save your changes.Loading...

- Always make use of this procedure with good intention. Loading...
- Do not revert if you simply disagree with an edit.
- If you are a Registered editor:
- Click on [rollback] to revert to the previous editor.
- Click on [undo] to revert to the previous edit.
- To clarify, click on [undo] and leave an explanation in the Edit Summary.
