Add Images to wikiHow
Images are one of the best ways to really make a wikiHow article shine. This part of the tour will show you the basic steps involved in adding images to wikiHows.
First, you need to find an appropriate image that meets our license requirements (basically, you must have taken the photo yourself or you need find a freely licensed image online). Once you've found the right image and saved it to your computer, log in and go the upload page by clicking on the "Upload Images" link under Editing Tools on the left hand side of the page.
Clicking on the "Upload File" link will bring you to a special page in wikiHow where you can browse for and upload images to wikiHow. To browse for saved images on your computer, just click on the "Browse..." button.
Once you've selected your image, add the attribution information into the summary box and select the appropriate license for the image. Once everything is ready click on "Upload file" to send a copy of your image to wikiHow.
If the image uploaded correctly, you'll be taken to a page showing your image, the license and summary information, and the file name used to place the image in an article.
Once you've uploaded your image, adding the image to your articles is as simple as adding a link in the appropriate section of the article. For example, if your image is named Image:Framing_hammer_956.jpg all you'd need to do is add this link [[Image:Framing_hammer_956.jpg]] to place the image in your article like this:
You can find more details on images and formatting (placement, sizing, captions, and more) in How to Add a Photo to a wikiHow and How to Align a Photo in wikiHow. We also have a detailed image upload guide to help you.
