What is wikiHow?

wikiHow is a collaborative writing project aiming to build the world's largest and highest-quality how-to manual. As of this minute, wikiHow contains 83,283 articles. We are read by tens of millions of people from multiple countries every month making us the most popular wiki after Wikipedia.

New articles are created every day and the existing articles are gradually improved by volunteer contributors. In time we envision this huge how to manual providing free, unbiased, accurate instructions on almost every topic imaginable.

Why write on wikiHow?

  • Collaborate to build something bigger and more meaningful than you can do as an individual. You can write in isolation anywhere on the internet. On a wiki you will team up with editors from around the world and experience the joys of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Build real world skills in writing, team work, communication, and leadership. We offer active editors free six week classes at wikiHow University.
  • Reach a huge audience. Some wikiHow authors have a readership exceeding one million people. According to Quantcast, wikiHow is the 118th most popular site on the Internet. And because of our Creative Commons license, your work will be republished in many other places too.
  • Help people. wikiHow is the world's how-to manual. The practical education wikiHow offers directly improves millions of lives. There are few other activities you can do that have an impact on so many people.
  • No ads. wikiHow is one of the few advertising optional places on the internet. When you register an account we won't show you ads and we won't ask you for financial donations.
  • Join a friendly, helpful community of volunteers from all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities. Many of our editors cite the friendships they made here as one of the main reasons they contribute here for years
