How to Stiffen a Cap

So, you bought an old cap or have one that's not stiff anymore. You probably noticed it doesn't hold its shape when you put it on, especially if it's a trucker style cap. Well here's how to fix it.

[edit] Steps

  1. Mold the cap to the desired shape.
  2. Take your spray starch, shake it, then spray it on the inside for about .5 to 1 second.
  3. Take a cloth and wipe off the bottom of the visor and the inside band.
  4. Gently sit the cap down somewhere where nobody will bother it.

[edit] Tips

  • If you want to wear it the next day, it's best to do the night before as it will be ready and won't be bothered as much as if you tried during the day when everyone's up and about. Then again, you won't be able to make sure it's ready if you do it at night.
  • Once the starch dries, if it's still not firm enough, do it again.

[edit] Warnings

  • Be easy on the starch. You don't want it soaking through and putting a big spot on the front of it, do you?
  • Starch is water soluble, so will dissolve in rain or your sweat.

[edit] Things You'll Need

  • Old cap
  • Spray on starch
  • Two minutes to work
  • Three to five hours to dry
