This Photoshop video tutorial will teach you how to use the new text on a path tool in Adobe Photshop CS and show you some new interface improvements in the file browser. You will be learning how to toggle the file browser on and off in Photoshop CS, how to access automation features trough the file browse r and how to make a quick and dirty text on a path. Notice that when we delete the original Path from the Paths Panel, we are no longer able to see it on the canvas - just the text is left. However, if we export the image to GIF or JPEG, the Path will not be visible as it is only a guide and not an actual element in the page. Once the text has been positioned with a path, it is still editable and will still follow the path. However, you can only modify the Path itself if the original is still in the Paths Panel (I.E. is still visible on the canvas). Like so: Create a new document, I'm using 400x500 pixels for this example. Select the pen tool and draw your path that you want the text to follow. Double click text layer to open layer style window and apply gradient overlay and bevel and emboss. Use settings as shown. The text-writing line will appear and start to flash. Now begin typing! Your text will follow along the path until it reaches the end. Like so: Creating text that follows a path in Photoshop is an extremely simple process. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to create a circle of text using selections, paths, and, of course, the text tool.
