Finally there you have your own Wild Grass Text, great uh? Changing the Foreground and Background color on Step 4 determinates the colors of the overall effect, so create your own combinations.
Looks pretty nice, doesn???t it? But it is not finished yet. Get out the Burn Tool (Shadow, Exposure: 20%) to make the grass more three-dimensional and contrast partly. Apply this tool to every layer of the grass. Now you should have a background like this:
Activate the Text Tool and choose a font and font-size (in example Courier New 144pt). Crtl-click (mac: Cmd-click) on the layer thumbnail of the text layer to select the text. Go to the palet Paths and press the 'Make Work path from selection' button. As you don't need the text layer anymore you can delete it.
I will start by describing what this tutorial isn't so there won't be a disappointment if I fail to cover something. It is not a tutorial for color theory, aesthetics or composition and the examples provided are by no means attempting to be photo-realistic in any sense. This is a tutorial to display one way in which Photoshop can be used to simulate a type of natural media, similar to oil paint, in a way. It is also a description of the way I paint and can give some insight into the steps I use to create a digital painting. Anyway, enough chatter.
Gotham Nights is a free Blogger template with awesome dark background and colorful graphics. Originally created by the amazing designer Evan Eckard.
So, lets begin the grass effect brush preset, by simply selecting the left pane 'Brush Presets' (hightlighted in blue) and scrolling within the right window view pane to the 'Grass' brush.
Now we need to bring some grass to our letters and background. Select Brush Tool again and set up the smaller size of brush to make the grass a little bit smaller on the new layer.
If you want some clouds in your pic go Filter->Render->clouds (with the blue and white colors selected) and cut out a piece. Then Gaussian Blur it (Filter->Blur->Gaussian Blur) and change the blending to lighten.
Bring your grass photograph into Photoshop. Match your grass' image to your 3d image, so the length of the grass will fit on the same scale. Most of the time you won't need to size down your photograph. In step 2, you will need to decide which area of the photograph you want to clone on your image. I selected the middle area, which I highlighted just to demonstrate where I will be cloning from. When you have decided, select your clone stamp tool, hit ALT+Left click once on the image, where you will start cloning.
After downloading this image, load it into Photoshop and hit Ctrl + A to select the entire image, copy and paste the entire image to our new document, this will automatically form a new layer, name it as "Soft Drink Can".
Making realistic looking grass in Photoshop is very easy thanks to the preloaded grass brush. My nine year old daughter must use this and the Render_Clouds technique in near every picture she makes.
Last thing is Edit -> Define Pattern... You can check Your new pattern using Paint Bucket Tool (G) on new document. With this technique You can make any pattern (brick, wall, ground...)
7. And last but not least, add a simple 1 stroke black #000000 border and your signature should look nice and clean like the example! There you go, you've jsut created a clean grass signature for forums, banners,
More than likely, you're already satisfied with how that looks. Notice how the different color variances that are preset to the brush give it depth! However, if you're looking to make a field-type look, continue on. With the grass foreground layer as you topmost layer, create a new layer underneath. On this layer, repeat the step above, only make sure that your grass brush sizes are slightly smaller and that you move up on the canvas, usually 3/4 of the height of the previous grass layer. You know, things look smaller when they're farther away. Repeat as necessary (image in the screenshot has 4 layers), depending on the distance you'd like to achieve, making sure that each new layer is added below the previous layer. See Screenshot 2.
1) First, get the sky part finish first. It'll be much easier, trust me. 2) Create a new layer, then pick a green color similar to this. since it's the right color to choose for the grass during daytime..

Ever wanted to make text out of grass? Well with Photoshop you can. In this tutorial we'll create a rather cool-looking grass-text effect using a photo of grass, the Pen Tool and a bit of patience.
