Select the text color from the text tool bar by clicking the color square and selecting the color you would like.

4b. highlight your text and in the color panel change one of the numbers and then change it back so its the color you picked

Create a new canvas at about 400 x 200. Now, type your text. I used "Times New Roman" bold at 48 pixels.

You can also achieve all kinds of good beveling effects starting from step 2. You may go to Layer>Layer Style>Bevel and Emboss and experiment with all kinds of beveling techniques and options, have fun!

Brushed metal is always a cool effect to pull off in Photoshop. And after you've created your steel texture, what better place to use it than to produce beveled steel type?

The first step is to make some text. Make it any type you want, just make sure that it is set to BOLD

[6] After you have rasterize your text, you ready to transform it. With the text layer selected, press Cntl+T, and position your text as if it were in 3D perspective as shown image below.

Below is with a Stroke overlay applied in the Bevel and Emboss dialog.
