Now we will make a funny looking splatter text effect with adobe photoshop, just take a look below to see what I mean.

Finally, to give it a more eerie feel I added a layer above all the others and with a large brush painted some green on top, then set the layer blending mode to Color to make it so that the image is a blue-green coloring. And we're done! One slick, smoky effect!

Often, all the effort will go into some incredibly beautiful masthead, logo, or background, which makes the top of the web page look great (mostly), but scroll down to the actual content, and you might find a CSS famine. Taking control of your text requires more than just specifying one of the many available web fonts or setting font size. CSS provides the conscientious designer with a multitude of tools that can be applied to boring old text, bridging the gap between print and web design, and allowing for much flexibility.

In my example I've used a free font called Ferro Rosso which can be downloaded here (only Windows version). If you want to use this font, then Install the font in the following directory: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts and restart Photoshop. The reason to install the font in this directory and not in Windows' default font directory is that the font will now only be used by Photoshop.

Of course this is just a simple example, in this case I have just modified one letter of my word, however I could have modified more or even all of them. In addition to that the editing possibilities are endless. If you want you can add anchor points to different locations, modify the bezier curves etc in order to create your unique text.

Starting in Photoshop 6, it's been possible to warp text by clicking the warp button on the Options Bar. Clicking it presents a range of options for warping type while keeping it editable. But did you know...

I used this text-style on my schoolproject Malavita. This is the perfect bloddy style that can be well suited for text with a mafia-theme...

15. Drag your background layer to your New layer icon on the bottom of the layers palette to duplicate it. Then drag the background copy over your text layer and drop it there. The new stacking order will be

9. Highlight the pattern of 4 pixels. Click Edit=>Define Pattern 10. Open your original text document. Open your layers palette and while the text layer is highlighted, click the add mask button on the bottom of the layers palette. 11. Click Edit=>Fill so your fill goes in your mask.

1. Open a new File that is 400 wide by 200 high, 72ppi, RGB, white (or black if you want white text on black)

7. Control Click on the text layer to select the text, and making sure that the New layer, layer 1 is selected on the layer panel. Click Edit fill. Set fill to the following:

I found this tutorial online, originally offered by Jason Hartgraves which he called 'Bling Bling' Text. I thought it was a cool effect to share with others. Thank you Jason.

Duplicate this channel by dragging 'Original' onto new channel icon. Rename this Texture + Your Letter. (In this example it is called TextureP).

Step 3: Now we need to add the text I am going to use the text ???Photoshop??? but you can use whatever text you want to.

When the cursor is over the type, it changes to the Text cursor symbol; when the cursor is away from the text, it reverts back to the normal Move tool symbol and the text can be moved around the screen. Position the text centrally.

In this tutorial, we will be looking at creating a cool text effect using PhotoShop CS4 where the letters overlap each other and cancel each other out, creating a cut-out effect.

Now we get to make the text look really sleek. Right-click the text layer in the layers palette then use the following layer styles and settings: ??? Inner Shadow ??? Outer Glow ??? Bevel and Emboss ??? Gradient Overlay ??? Pattern Overlay (Download.) (Note: To make an image into a pattern, open the image, select all (ctrl+a), then go to Edit > Define Pattern.) Be sure to have paid attention to the sreenshots, and your text should now look like this:

In this tutorial you'll learn how to make a very simple text effect with just a few layer styles. This text, though simple, is rather sleek and will add some pop to your images that plain, flat text will lack.

Photoshop gives us a few different places to access our font and text options. There's the Character and Paragraph palettes, and the one we'll look at here - the Options Bar.

So how do we get Photoshop to accept the text and exit us out of typing mode then? If you have an extended keyboard with a number pad on it, you can use the Enter or Return key on the number pad. If you don't have an extended keyboard, just use your mouse to select one of the other tools from the Tools palette, which will kick Photoshop out of type mode and accept your text at the same time.

Ctrl+Click the original text layer thumbnail to get the selection. Press Q to enable quick mask. From "Filter" menu select "Noise>>Volatilize". Apply settings as shown.

In this tutorial we're going to show you how to quickly and easily create some polished Web 2.0? style text that is all the rage these days.

Note If you see any type of banding effect between the levels of gray in the text, select the text and apply the Blur More filter to it. Don't over-blur it though or the pipe gradient effect will become washed out, and ineffective

Photoshoplovr.com is a weblog dedicated to all the Photoshop lovers who want to learn photoshop. We bring you the greatest Adobe Photoshop Free Tutorials you can find on the net.

Let?s start out by creating a new file. I used a 500?500 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with black color. Now make a new layer set and name it 'Concrete Wall Text Effect'.

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Outer Glow, Inner Glow and Gradient overlay blending options to your red text layer.

For the effect suspended in the air rotate (you can rotate the letters by using Edit > Free Transform) and move your letters as on picture below. Put all the letters above the layers with rope.

In this Photoshop tutorial I'll be teaching you how to make a kind of random, abstract, tech-style text effect using pretty much just layer styles. It's an interesting effect, to say the least, not sure what you could use it for though.

In this short and simple tutorial I'm going to teach you how to make a very stylish, sleek text effect, like the example I've shown in the below image.

I'll be showing you how to make some stylish, cheesy text with this simple tutorial. This stuff works great with print advertisements etc.

In the above image I???ve used a font called Cooper (170 pt, Crisp), which is sadly a commercial font. Feel free to try a different font, or you know, buy or ???get??? a nice font from somewhere. Ok, now let???s start with creating delicate text effect. First of all we need to add some pattern to Photoshop patterns palette to use it for creating text effect later. Open this texture or find another one using Google Images and use Edit > Define Pattern to save this picture as pattern. Go back to our created file and apply the following layer styles to the text layer: ??? Drop Shadow ??? Inner Shadow ??? Outer Glow ??? Inner Glow ??? Bevel and Emboss ??? Contour ??? Texture ??? Satin ??? Pattern Overlay ??? Stroke

Also I would like to add some pattern to our gauzy text style. For this effect create a new document with size of 55 pixels and draw cross lines by using Pencil Tool as on picture below:

Ok, our background is already finished. Let???s start with creating glamourous text effect. Get out the Horizontal Type Tool and write out something like ???Glamourous??? middle of the canvas, then apply the following text character:

Today we are going to give some cool Effects to a Text. In this tutorial I have used photo shop Tools Like, Horizontal Type Tool, Paint Bucket Tool, and some really cool Effects like Filter > Stylize > Wind effect . Let's get started.

Actually, Nick, I am trying to recreate the exact Cheetos font for work. Frito-Lay doesn't exactly give out these things freely.

Description This looks exactly like what it sounds like -- an endless star field encapsuled by a glossy blue border. You get text full of a multitude of stars, novas and dying novas. At the end, the file is left unflattened and all the layers are put into a set for easy manipulation and movement.

Grab the Magic Wand Tool and add a marquee selection around your scrabble tiles text design layer from last step which is the black background. Now delete the marquee selection/background so you end up with just the scrabble tiles text design.

Hey guys, this is Rob, im a new writer here at MagnusFx. In this article I'm going to teach you how to create a simple yet awesome Juicy text effect. Lets begin!

In this Photoshop tutorial we will be using the Wind and Ripple filters along with some tricky rotation to create some truely electrifying text.

In this tutorial we are going to take our text and turn it into an inlay in an old brick wall. To start off, lets create a brick-colored background. To give my image a little more depth I used a radial gradient.

Make this very easy indented text to make it look like a piece of the text has been cut out to make room for the other text. Very easy to learn!

Now let?s add a little more vector balance to this design to top it off even more. This is just taking it to the next level. Can you feel the balance of bitmap (ie. photo) and vector (ie. text, shape)? In graphic design you want to create feelings and emotion that synergize with your target audience. These are created in a visual manner but can trigger internal emotions and (hopefully) positive references or associations from a person?s internal state. Ok, I got an ?A? in psychology at U of Hawaii Manoa.

Start off by creating a new canvas, mine is 500 pixels by 150 pixels. Find a really beautiful blocky script type of font. For this tutorial I am using Bello, an awesome font. Its not nessecary for this tutorial, though. Type out the text you want, while In the interest of keeping this short, I'm going to skip kerning and tracking and just post the text I came up with:

Using the Horizontal Type Tool, write some large text in white ( Hex #FFFFFF ). For this tutorial, I wrote N-sane in 80 pt with the font Impact.

Step 2: Right click on "Small Tutorials" layer and select "Duplicate Layer". Click on the "Move Tool"(V) and select "Show Tranform Controls" checkbox . Eight white boxes will appear around our text.

Step 6: Now press Ctrl-U to open the Hue/Saturation dialog box, make sure to tick on Colorize checkbox and remember we are on "Style" layer, not Background. Use these settings:

Step 3: Double your text layer (by pressing Ctrl-J) and go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur (if a dialog box appears, asking to "rasterize" your text layer, just click OK). Use these settings:

Step 2: Set your text color to red (#FF0000) and use the Horizontal Type Tool(T) to type anything you like

Step 6: Press Ctrl-F four times to repeat this effect. Go to Filter > Stylize > Wind again but this time we choose "From the Right" option. Press Ctrl-F four times again! This is our image at this time

Start with a large black canvas, in your layers window make a new layer set and name it The Thing Text Effect. Now type your name, use font Franklin Gothic Heavy, 72 pt, crisp and #767676 for color.

soo easy!man! i've searched the web luking 4 a tut to make text reflection, all i got were tuts on reflection which were 3 or more pages!!

Start with a large black canvas, in your layers window make a new layer set and name it Special Text Effect. Choose your text tool and select font Wide Latin from the font list. Set the size to 30 pt, strong and #0AABFF for color. In a new text layer type the name you want to decorate.

Watercolor is one of those mediums that can be difficult to replicate digitally, but with a little practice and experimentation I think you'll find it can be rather fun. This tutorial will be based around creating a text effect, but this technique works just as well when creating paintings in Photoshop.

Here I have a nice little image from the iStockPhoto dollar bin. I'd like to wrap test to the right of the hand pretty closely but Photoshop doesn't come equipped with a text wrap feature like you'd find in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign. Although we can't literally "wrap" the text around the object, we can create a series of overlapping paths that will act as a container for our text and thus allow us to pseudo-wrap the text to get the desired wrapping effect.

First, Select -> Load selection on your text. Next, do Select -> Inverse. After that, create a layer and fill it with white. Finally, delete the excess white from around the text, with the inverted selection we did earlier. Then, take the Rectangular Marquee Tool, and delete the bottom half of the white text.

The inaugural post on thebesttutorials.com deals with text effects. If you're looking for ways to make your text shine, here are some of the finest.

Firstly start off by creating a new document which is 300px by 80px. Now for this I am using Planet Estyle font which can be freely downloaded. You can however use whatever font you like. Now on your document use the text tool and type the name of your company or website onto the white area. From the character panel (Window >> Character) you can then change the colour of your text as well as other settings. I am using the colour #D4A528. Mine so far looks like this: Now right-click on your text layer and go to Blending Options. From here you are able to make changes to the way your text/layer looks by adding various effects. For this tutorial we will be using just the drop shadow, inner glow, pattern overlay and stroke effects. Use the list on the left to tick and enable various effects. Click on one of them to show its options and settings. Go through and set the following options: Drop Shadow Colour: Black (#000000) Opacity: 75% Distance: 0 Spread: 0 Size: 5 Inner Glow Colour: #FFFFBE Opacity: 75% Blend Mode: Screen Noise: 0 Technique: Softer Pattern Overlay Opacity: 10% Pattern: You can choose your own pattern. Im using a cutsom pattern which is simply diagonal lines Scale: 100% Stroke Size: 1 Position: Outside Opacity: 60% Colour: Black (#000000) Once thats all done click OK. You should now see that your text has changed. Heres what Ive got: Now we want to add a single line of text beneath what we already have which will be our slogan. Again I am using Planet Estyle font but you may choose a different one if you wish. Like before use your text tool and type in your slogan or something catchy. Change the size of the text so that it is smaller than our main text and move it so it is beneath and to the right. And here is my final result:

Use Filter --> Liquify with settings similar to those in the picture below to liquify the bottom of your melting text a bit.

Now hit CTRL-D to deselect the shape.. zoom into your image and start drawing on the edges of your text. You should reduce the brushs' diameter for this.

If you've ever stared at a ticker, you'll notice that the letters aren't as sharp in your vision when they move. This is because your eyes hasn't adjust to the motion of the text so it leave the image a little bit blurry. We can give this effect in Photoshop by applying a motion blur. Duplicate the layer(s) with the text on them. Select the lower duplicated layer and go to Filter >> Blur >> Motion Blur. Set the Distance to 11 pixels and Angle to 0 degrees. Take the layer opacity down to 80%.

Tip: To safeguard against Preference glitches, open the Preset Manager again and from the palette options icon(arrow on the far right), select 'Save Tool Presets' as a new Text Preset with a friendly user name.

Step 3. Now we need to add our text. First of all get the Horizontal Type Tool (the regular one) and write out your text in white.

Duplicate the String Layer, which should now be String Layer copy and move the layer under the text layer. Therefore, the Text Should be sandwich in between the two string layers. Click over to the main string layer and click on the Eraser Tool using the setting below.

2. So now when you have your text like you want it, it's time to rasterize the text layer, to do that just right click on your text layer in the layers palette and choose Rasterize Layer. Then take the Single Column Marquee Tool and click somewhere on your image.

In this tutorial you see another PhotoshopDesign.NET tutorial .psd of mine. Open a .psd file of yours (or use this one from the psd.net ipsdirectory when you sign up for the PSDer on the link). Now link some of the layers together as shown. When you have a layer highlighted in the layers palette you can link other layers to it by going to that particular layers link box and clicking it.

Remember to highlight the text in the editing field and then you can make changes. Changing the font size here is easy also.

After i have duplicated the layers a few times, i have placed this shapes also on the right side of the wallpaper

This method can be used to make text similar to that of the MickM website. Check it out. It's a great site with plenty of useful resources for you to use. Remember to experiment with different settings. If you have any questions or improvements regarding this tutorial feel free to register and comment.

Bonus Freebie Now, to apply the effects used in the logo. Open in Photoshop and double-click on any style listed under one of the Text layers. This will bring up the Styles palette. Simply click on the New Style button. A dialog box will appear. Just hit OK to close, then hit Cancel to close the Styles palette. Repeat this procedure once under each Text layer. Now, go to Window > Show Styles. In the Layers palette, click on one of the text layers to apply an effect to and click on one of the last four buttons in the Style button palette until you get the desired effect applied to text.

Still with the text selected create a new layer by pressing (Shift+Ctrl+N) or clicking on Layer > New > Layer... With the new layer created click on the Brush Tool .I used some great grunge brushes I download from www.pixelchick.dk. If you click over to the recourses link you will find it. On the other hand, you can use the brushes you have, there is no one set of brushes to use. You can use multiple brushes and get different effects.

Today we learn how to add a imagine into a text! It is a easy tutorial with few steps and a great result! In this tutorial I use a picture with an BMW and if you want to do like me save the next picture:

Ok, our background is already finished. Let's start with creating glamourous text effect. Get out the Horizontal Type Tool and write out something like 'Glamourous' middle of the canvas, then apply the following text character:

To have lines only in the text, you may select the area which is not of our use and remove them by pressing delete. But it will take time and you will need to work hard to get desired results. The quick method is to create a clipping mask between these two layers. Press alt key from the keyboard and click in between the names of two layers. The lines which are not in the range of first layer are actually hidden and we only see the desired lines.

In this tutorial you will learn how to create a very cool and unique Bamboo Text Effect that looks amazing when used on many different types of projects. Here is what you will be creating with this tutorial:

Create a new image or open one ready to apply text. Type in your text in your desired font and size. Once you are happy with it right click the text layer and select Blending Options from the menu. Set the Blend Mode to Soft Light, then:

4. Once you have typed your text click on another layout and the line below should disappear. Just simply add some text effects and put it onto a sig or a website banner. It should look something like this

Now create a new canvas 350 x 180, then go ahead and choose the text tool. I chose "Joan" as the typeface at a size of 104. Now type your text and go on.

Now time to put the effects into position. Look up at the main menu and click "layer". Now scroll down to " layer style". Then click "blending options". Follow these settings for each step.

Now "Ctrl" click the text layer to create a selection around it and create a new layer. Go to the main menu and click on "Select" then "Modify" and lastly "Contrast" and set it to 1.

You can do this by selecting the text and place a layer behind the text and fill it with white. Then give that a white stroke that reaches far beyond the black ;)

Now that you have your text, you can now right click on the text layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Bevel and Emboss".

Make sure the path is selected and then select the text tool. Hover over the start of the Path and you will see the icon change. This means that the text will follow the route of the path you have chosen. Then click and begin typing. All of your text will have to be on one line and if the text is longer than the space available it won't show. You can get round this by selecting all the text and then reducing the font size.

Now "Ctrl" click the text layer to create a selection around it. Then, go to the main menu and click on "Select" then "Modify" and then "Expand". Expand by 7 and click "OK". You'll notice in the illustration below some arrows pointing to some empty areas. Grab the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" and while holding the "Shift" key in on your keyboard, begin to add to the selection as I have done below.

Start adding your text to the photo, select your style, font, size and placement and do so. Here is that I got so far:

Now click in the work area and type "Cool Text". Notice how the layer with our text on it now says "Cool Text". The text tool always creates this based on the first few words you write.

6. Press Ctrl+Click on the layer menu, located with the 'layers' window this will get you the outline of the text layer, now using a gradient tool (change the plate to white and black) now with the gradient tool drop and drug its like shown below.

8. Select the shape of the text, create a new layer and fill it with the brush using this color #615446

Optional: you can some extra effects on top of the duplicated texture layer. I added a dupilcated layer with a "Medium" filter on and set the layer blending option to "Color Dodge". See below image for details:

Create now a new layer (Create new layer) and select a standard brush of black color, Brush Tool (B) (Opacity of 10%) to dark out the picture's edges.

1. You may begin by creating a gradient (G) on your background layer or you make create a new layer for the gradient.

Because you have rasterized these layers they share the same opportunities as all normal layers (except being text editable within the text editing field). So go ahead and create a layer mask by clicking on the appropriate icon in the layers palette (box with a circle in it). With your 'B'rush and a foreground color of black or dark grey, go ahead and carefully blot certain areas of the layer that you have masked on. Make sure that you are masking on top of the area where there is pixels on the layer you've chosen.or you won't see your masking.

Create a new 500X150 pixels document with the black background. Print the same text but with another colour and drag the text into our actual picture behind the white text. And that's it.

Make the lower type layer active and visible by clicking on it. (When you activate a hidden layer, it's automatically made visible.) Use the menu command Layer> Rasterize> Type. The content of the layer is changed from vector type to pixels. (The Type tool can no longer be used on this layer to edit the text.) You can also rasterize a type layer by Control-clicking or right-clicking on the layer in the Layers palette and selected Rasterize Layer from the contextual menu.

Ok, now let's start with creating delicate text effect. First of all we need to add some pattern to Photoshop patterns palette to use it for creating text effect later. Open this texture or find another one using Google Images and use Edit > Define Pattern to save this picture as pattern.

Use Ctrl + Left Mouse Click the select the text, then create a new layer on top of the "Text" Layer and call this layer "Star". Fill the "Star" layer with Black colour and position it according to the image below:

Rasterize the "Text Pattern" layer. Using the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" rid the outside of the pattern on the "Text Pattern" layer as illustrated below.

In this tutorial you will learn how to create a kind of broken glass effect with text. 1. Create a new document in Adobe Photoshop, any size. I have used 218 x 84. 2. Write in your text. 3. Right-click on your text, go to Blending Options > Drop Shadow and set these settings: 4. Go to Inner Shadow and set these settings: 5. Go to Outer Glow and set these settings: 6. Go to Bevel and Emboss and set these settings: 7. Go to Color Overlay and set these settings:

Step3: At this point all you have is the text typed onto a white background, and now you are in the Liquify filter window. Enter the setting below into the Liquify window.

Merge all layers (Ctrl+Shift+E). Now select Vertical Type tool (T) and chose Egyptian font. Start typing any texts you wish. You can make many layers with many different font sizes. When you finish you should get something like this:

Next Duplicate your Text layer and Ctrl+Click on the text layer copy to make a selection (you should see marching-ants around your text now) and go to Select>Modify>Contract.

6. With the Highlights layer selected, go: Filter > Render > Lighting Effects... Click here to see the Lighting effects window. Set the Material Properties to: Gloss: 79 Material: -37 Exposure: 56 Ambience: -100 Change the Texture Channel to Alpha 1, or the channel you were working on before, and it's Height to 100. Create a directional light, Intensity 32, so that the lighting covers most of the the e, but the brightest parts are still on the edges. When the Lighting Effects is done, Gaussian Blur the layer by 3 pixels, to get rid of the levels.

After your text has been created press Ctrl + J on your keyboard to duplicate the layer your text is on.

Create a new layer and Ctrl+Click over the text layer thumb to select it. Using the same White to Transparent gradient, make a gradient from the bottom to top of the selection

This week I'm going to take some black text and see what we can do with it using a few of these third party plug-ins. I will be using 2 of Alien Skin's products (Eye Candy 4000 and Xenofex),and Flaming Pear's Super Blade Pro.

Click on pen tool, right click on the path (which is outside our original text) click on stroke path and select brush. We have already set the brush dynamics. Your fence text is ready :)

Select the bottom most type layer. Go to Edit>Transform>Scale, and increase the size to taste. I want to make a distinctive metal border, so I'm expanding the layer so the effects on the border can be clearly seen. Though the fonts fill not directly match as they would using the expand selection option, this is still a fun way to render things.

Next, type "Away" and manipulate the letters of the word so it is similar to the below image. Use steps 2 and 3 for the style settings.

Now go back to the tombstone canvas and then go to the toolbar and grab the "Polygonal Marquee Tool" and make a selection around the text of the tombstone. Create a new layer and fill. Turn the opacity down to 0.

I had a very nice x mas, Very refreshing to say the least. Kids galore! lol... odd that the font used is called strenuos . But it suites the cause : ). This is another really simple tutorial using only three adjustments to your layers palette, I'll be getting into some really advanced stuff latter , but for now lets build up our styles palette and learn or relearn some of the basics.

In this tutorial, i will show you how to create a frosted ice text. After you learn this technique you can apply it too all sorts of different things.

Now "Ctrl" click text layer to create a selection. Now go to "Selection" then "Modify" then "Expand" by 5 pixels. Create a new layer and place below the "Fun Text" layer in the layers palette. Fill with a Black. Your image should now look like the below image. Deselect the selection.

2) Start off by selecting your text. In order to do the Gargoyle Text you need to download the font file below. So lets start by getting the font and putting it in your font folder:

Also I would like to add some pattern to our gauzy text style. For this effect create a new document with size of 5x5 pixels and draw cross lines by using Pencil Tool as on picture below:

7. Now add a text layer to your document. Hit key "T" on your keyboard or directly select the Text Tool.

Insert Graphics into your text, I have seen this tutorial before , however i have never seen it done this way , me personaly i bilieve this is as fast as it gets.

Create a new document and add some large text with the 'T'ext tool. Here I'm using IMPACT font (again...my collection so tiny). Make it fill up a large portion of the document. Note that 'of' is smaller. You can change this by selecting it in the text editing field and independently adjusting the font size in the Character palette.

We'll begin this tutorial, by changing the foreground to E680DB, then go ahead and choose the text tool. I chose "Joan" as the typeface but it really doesn't matter. The type size is 60.

Now you need to delete the text layer, just right click on the text layer, and choose "Delete Layer", this will leave you only the background layer with the cloud filter, and the text is gone, just the selection of the text.

Now right click on the duplicated text layer in the Layers Palette and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Gradient Overlay".

We'll begin this tutorial, by creating a new canvas at a size of 267 x 154 then select the "Text Tool" and use the below settings. Download the "Harry Potter" typeface here.

Have you ever wanted to float a piece of text behind a portion of an image? It's really easy to do using layer masks. Today I'm going to show you a fun little Christmas card project that will help reveal how useful layer masks can be. Before we get started, let's talk about what a layer mask really is.

Create a new document in Photoshop and fill the background with Black. Copy the 3D text without the top faces and paste it in Photoshop. Position it in the middle of the document and reduce its size.

Create another new layer, then select the text again. Contract the selection by about 2 pixels (Select > Modify > Contract)

Keep rotating and reapplying the wind affect until the image is the right way up again and you should have something like this (you may need to realign it with the original text ;-)

Play around with the "Range" setting to get different effects. You can also play around with hue and saturation to change the colors of the text.

2. Now you want to create the text for your name or website address so you should select the text Tool as shown here - - Now write what you want as shown below make sure you select a nice and effective font. i had to change the font color from white to black so you could see it so create the font from black to white.

Now I want to bring out the wood grain and color a bit, so I'm going to duplicate my top layer, set it to overlay, and move the slider until I'm content with the color. Now we have a stylish text that could be duplicated over and over again...even applied to an interface, buttons, logo, etc. if we had the Gold Foil Layer Style in the Styles Palette and saved our steps in an action. I didn't do that this time, but the process would be easy to duplicate.

Create a New Image 800 x 600. Set the background color to white. Click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool and draw a rectangle. We will use this to write the imbedded text on to. Click on the paint bucket and fill your rectangular selection with a black. Now right click on the rectangle layer, click Blending Options, and add the setting below.

Make this very easy indented text to make it look like a piece of the text has been cut out to make room for the other text. Very easy to learn!

1. Open a new document, then using the 'type tool' (T) create two text layers, in the example I've used capital letters, and colored them both. Now position the two layers on how you want them to interlock, check my example if your unsure.

From the layers palette, right click the text layer and go to rasterize type. The reason we do this is so we can make a selection of individual letters easily.

Create a new canvas at about 400 x 200. Now, type July as your text. I used "Vogue" at 72 pixels...black.

Press "D" and then "X" to make your foreground color white, and then press Ctrl+Delete (Mac: Command+Del) to fill your selection with white color. Ctrl+D (Mac: Command+D) to deselect the selection. Your picture should look like the one above with the new "Shadows" white layer above your original black Text layer.

To add a new light drag the light icon [ ] on the bottom of the Lighting Effects window onto the point that you want the light. The selected light's properties will editable on the right side panel. To kill a light, drag it onto the trash icon [ ]. When you are done customizing your lighting, hit OK.

3. Now type your text which you will give effect. I type ttutorials (font size 72pt, bold and font name Book Antiqua).

Step 3. In this step we are going to add some shine to the text. So press and hold Ctrl and click on the layer to select the content of it.

After you have the basic flat text, you need to add effects to it such as gradient overlay, outer glow and inner shadow.

We'll begin this tutorial, by creating a new canvas at a size of your choice with a dark background. I will be using black. Make sure the foreground is white, then go ahead and choose the text tool. I used "Edition" with a size of 55 pixels. Type "MAGIC".

Now go to Select>Modify>Contract. Set the value to 4px then press OK. (depending on the size of text you use this value may vary)

3. Write your name/text centered on the canvas. It doesn't need to be exact, it just needs to fit with a little bit of extra space on all sides. Font and size don't matter as long as the font isn't too curvy or complex, and it fits on the canvas. If it doesn't fit, use a smaller font or bigger canvas. I used Arial Black for font, and 72 for size. More importantly... Your text must be white.

In this tutorial I will put a twist onto my "movie in sig" tutorial and show you how to put a movie inside of text for a signature or other application. You will need to know the basics of manipulating movies in imageready so if you haven't read the movie in signature tutorial yet, check it out here.

Copy your text layer, and Rasterize it by right clicking on the layer, in the layers pallete, and clicking Resasterize. Then put the DUPLICATED layer, behind the regular text layer.

4. Ctrl+Click on the 'T' box on your layer, in my example it is circled in red. This will create a selection which is the shape of the text (hint: this technique can be used on any layer and is very useful).

Step 10 If you want even more of a glow, duplicate the layer and set the blending mode to linear dodge. Your text should now closely resemble the phosphorescent glow of some fingerprint powders like they use on those forensic shows.

Very trendy, pimp everything with photoshop. That is why we are going pimp our text in photoshop. In this tutorial you'll learn how to make a simple layer-style for your pimpin' text in photoshop. If you don't have the patience to do this tutorial, you can just download the .psd which contains the layer style from this tutorial. Nice and easy.

Now grab the "Text Tool" and select "Verdana" Bold and set at 62 pixels with Black and type PIXEL in all caps.

Ctrl+Click the original text layer thumbnail to get the selection. Press Q to enable quick mask. From "Filter" menu select "Noise>>Volatilize". Apply settings as shown.

Drop Shadow Structure will add a background shadow this will make the text effect stand out even more. now we need to add a gradient overlay and these settings are shown below.

Duplicate "Lightning layer copy 2? (the one beneath the Text layer") once, then go to Edit > Transform and Flip Vertical/Horizontal. Flip the duplicate layer vertical and horizontal once each. Alternatively, you can use free tranformation tool and rotate the layer.

In the realm of layer masks, painting with black hides and painting with white reveals. To create our weathered look, we want to hide bits of the text with the odd-shaped brush we chose in Step 4.

5. This does not look much like a surface yet, but once we add some effects to it, it will appear more realistic. Duplicate your text layer and drag it above the surface layer. Now drag it below your current text layer over the surface:

We'll begin this tutorial, by selecting the "Type Tool." Select Teen (download font here), Bold as the typeface at a size of 52 with the color set to 0b76d1. Type "Rubbery" as the text and change the Horizontally Scale to 131%. Then change the Vertically Scale of the "R" to 131%.

Grab the Horizontal Type Tool (T) ,click on the image and type in your text. Note: The color of text doesn't matter at this point.

1. Start with some test on a new layer. Rasterize the type, by right clicking on the name on the layer thumbnail and selecting "rasterize text" (Render type in PS 5.0 and 5.5)

A short tutorial on how to produce a text effect that looks scanned. For this tutorial you wil need dot pattern effect. If you already have this then go straight to Part 2

1. Create a new 165x165 pixel document and name it Scanline Text. Now press D fill the document (with Black). Create a new layer, then, create a horizontal type mask, press X and then fill (with white). Then apply a drop shadow with THESE SETTINGS.

2. Make a new layer. Now using the pencil tool ( ) draw over the text you have typed, over and over (3-6 times). Don't worry about going outside the shape it will add to the effect. Choose an appropriately sized brush depending on the size of your text - small text = small brush.

To begin this tutorial, you will need the "Sims Font" which can be found here. Change the Foreground to white and make sure the background is set to something other than white, like yellow. Now grab the "Text Tool" and type the below letters in white on individual layers. Like so:

To begin this tutorial, change the foreground color to C6C5C5 then grab the "Text Tool" and using "Palatino" as your typeface, at the size of 97, type "smoke."

Now select your Text tool, set your foreground colour to the colour you wish the text to appear, i used #c2bcbc

I am Naveed Babar. I am enjoying to work with Adobe Photoshop and my aim is to be a Master in Adobe Photoshop. So I can share lots of information, tips, and ideas through nicetutz.blogspot.com.

I've been working with changing Blending modes for overlays in styles, and thought you might get a kick out of this as well. The technique is simple, but the effects they produce can be quite striking.

3. Next go Filters>Brush Strokes>Spatter. Play around with the sliders until you see something you like, and you've got some awesome spattered text! Now that wasn't too difficult was it? Hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Let's choose our background, try to search in deviantart.com. I found this one. Cause its color is cyan and our color is brown, we need to change it. Image - Adjustments - Desaturate. Go to Image - Adjustments - Variations and choose the suitable color, if you are too lazy, you can download the ready variation and load it in the Variations window. You can try to a little bit unsharp this texture. Now let's add the dirt. There are tons of these textures in the net, in deviantart.com too. Once you have found the suitable texture, add it. Select - Color range, select the light areas and then delete. Layer - Layer style - Blending options - Multiply. Use the Dodge and Burn tools to make a light effect.

Step 1 Make a new image and fill the background layer with black. Go to filter>texture>patchwork and use square size around 10 and relief of about 8. It won't appear to do anything, but we'll bring out the stones in the next step.

You can use one of your pre-installed fonts, however if you don't think you've got the right font, draw your own using the pen tool. For the shape below I used franklin gothic font set to 800 px in size. Then converted the text into a path, and modified the individual points using the direct selection tool to a shape I was happy with. Next, I turned the path into a live selection. Lastly I filled that selection with the color black in a new layer.

Next, select the "Brush Tool" at a size of 2 with a hardness at 0% using the color e7c05b and begin to create dots along the center of your texts' glow. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

1. Start adding some text (a big font works best). Use the same color for your text as you used on your background. Ctrl + Click on the text layer. This will make the text visible.

Now, control+click on the first text layer to select it. Press shift+control+n to create a new layer. We are doing this to ensure the color we will fill in the next step doesn't overfilled :

This is a very nice text effect I stumbled across! First make a new document and type your text, i've also made a gradient background to make things look a lot nicer.

Next, go to the main menu and choose "Edit" then "Free Transform". While holding in the "Shift" key on your keyboard, angle the text to a 45 degree angle as illustrated below.

For the effect suspended in the air rotate (you can rotate the letters by using Edit > Free Transform) and move your letters as on picture below. Put all the letters above the layers with rope.

Now that you have your text, you can now right click on the text layer and select, "Blending Options...". Now click on "Drop Shadow".

Create a plastic/glassy text effect like you would use for the title of a video game or movie, all in Photoshop CS2.

So i'm gonna show u how to make an easy text effect! just so u know I'm not english and i have photoshop in another language so don't laugh at me if i say something wrong^^

Once you got some nice text go to the paragraph menu, where you can edit thinks like text-outlining and text size. If you cant find it look on the next picture.

For this tutorial I want to demonstrate how you can add additional text to the stenciled wall, and even make it appear worn.

Ok, there are many text styles out there that you can use. This tut will show you just a couple of them

5. Now select your layer with the text and go to Filter > Distort > Displace Choose the fields as shown below.

If you are familiar with the Pen Tool, there are endless possibilities here to creating irregular paragraph type areas that simulate text wrapping.

Start a new file (in this example 350x350 pixels) and enter a text (the font used in this example is: Times New Roman).

Make sure you choose a good location as we will crop the image to a good size. So use the crop tool, , and select around your text. Once your satisfied with the crop, press enter. The image should be much smaller now.

Merge all the shape layers. Ctrl+Click to get the selection. From edit menu select "Define Brush Preset". Name this new brush "tootyfrooty brush".

As you can see above, this tutorial will help you create trendy text, yet in a professional manner. You can open any size document for this text. I chose the 300 x 100 size above. Next, we will make our background upon where our text will be placed.

Start by representing the texture's clich. Take the next instrument and represent on a new layer, 255x255 px and 72 dpi, 16 ellipses (firstly create a single ellipse and then make use of the Free Transform option to turn the drawn element on 90 degrees.

Now create a new canvas then go ahead and choose the "Text Tool". I chose "Arial Black" as the typeface at a size of 136. Now type "UP" and move on.

Step 2: Let's add some shadow and inner glow to give it that velvet effect. To add shadow go to : Layer>Layer Style > Drop shadow and make the following settings

Then ripple the lightning, and ripple it once more (2x in total). Then apply a gaussian blur with settings [Radius: 0.4-0.8]. PLEASE NOTE** If you are doing lightning on really big text, or smaller text, you will have to adjust the outer glow and inner glow settings accordingly, as well as adjust the gaussian blur accordingly. Have fun with this tutorial.

Now "Ctrl" click the text layer to create a selection around it and go to the main menu and click on "Select" then "Modify" and lastly "Contract" set it to 2 and click OK. Next, create a new layer and go to the main menu and select "Edit" then "Fill" and fill with white.

Your basic text is complete! A lovely dual coloured, simple text; fitting the new web 2.0 phase! Play around with the colours, remembering to stick with different shades of the same colour for best effect.

5. *Additional* Duplicate the layer, change all the colors around in the blending mode options and with your eraser, just erase some of the parts of the image and you'll have a text with two colors

Now we shall try and improvise the " X-files" effect using a standard set of filters, turned on and available in Adobe Photoshop. So, let's begin. Let's create a new window with a black background. And let's write the following text.

2. Using the Text tool, type your text in the middle of the document in big letters in the colour #FF0033. For added effect, install this font onto your system and use it. Yahoo Font!

Step 7. Now make a new layer between the two text layers. Go to the Channels panel and Ctrl + Click the "textselect" layer. Now go back to the layers panel and make sure you on the new layer you just created and fill it with black. To add color go to Layer > Adjustment Layer > Hue and Saturation. Click the colorize checkbox and change the color to whatever you like. Hope this was helpfull.

Now we will give our text some styles, so in the layers panel double click the text layer to open the styles panel and give it settings as shown below.

Start by typing in the text you want this effect applied to, find a big and bold font to get the best result.

I used a font called "stencil" it has kind of a army style look, and looks quite cool with the effect.

In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial you will see how simple it is to make one of those web 2.0 text effect everybody is talking about, actually web 2.0 elements are not much different from all other graphical elements, they basically are build up of some glossiness and shiny effects, maybe even some reflections as you may see in the tutorial.

Now your text should look like this, this was actually what I needed for my work, but I took the tutorial a bit further and added some glossiness.

With Photoshop 6, you can now add some creative effects to your text. If you've ever used Word Art in MS Word, you'll be very familiar with this type of feature.

In this tutorial, we will learn to create a battle field text. Final output of the tutorial can be seen below: -

I made this tutorial because I never really saw a overlapping text tutorial, basically what it is, is using the font Neon from Dafont.com and using the paint bucket with the foreground color white and coloring in the texts transparent inner glow, and placing each text separately one under another and one above another, whatever looks best.

Well after someone messaged me on Myspace saying, Yeo can u do what this guy does, he's good! I didn't like it, so I took time out to show how easy this really is to do. Tribal Text you can do several ways you can create your own lil tribal markings with a pen tool or use pre made shapes from fonts, to other photoshop plugins. Anyways if you click read more theres a vid and fonts I used.

5. In the layers panel double click the text layer to get to the layers style menu, and give it settings as shown below.

Start a new image and add your text, assuming white text on black background. Center the text and make sure you have a decent margine around it for the rays to go.

Hold shift and draw one of your lines, then draw another a little ways down. Leaving some space inbetween. Then right click your layer and click blending options and set these settings

Add your text in white with a black background. When you have decided on a word, rasterize your text by right clicking with the text tool and choosing"rasterize."

When you are finished you image should look very similar to the one below. If not you might want to try it with a different text type.

Now select the paint brush tool, select brush size 19 Hard Edge. Set foreground color to "black". . - Using the brush tool, spot paint over the text layer to create "spats" effect. - You can overlap the spots to give it a more random effect rather than just circular. - Paint on the bottom edge of the text too to give it a dripping look. - You can also switch the brush sizes to make different sized drops.

[9] Make a new layer in it and name it text layer.

1) Start by opening the photo that you want to place inside your text. For this tutorial, I am going to use this photo.

Step1: Create a New Image 800 x 600. Set the background color to white. Click on the Rectangular Marquee Tool and draw a rectangle. We will use this to write the imbedded text on to. Click on the paint bucket and fill your rectangular selection with a black. Now right click on the rectangle layer, click Blending Options, and add the setting below.

Graphical Fonts:

First, make a new image with a medium gray bg.

3. Pick your type tool setting at 60 pt I use Garamond font bold but you could use any font that is bold 4. Click on background layer and create new layer by click on papers next to garbage can in layers panel

Turn the eye off all the text layers but the first one on the bottom.

I have seen many tutorials that make gold effects on text using channels, flatten image or rasterize. Here you will learn to make golden text only using Blending Options.

1) Open a new document of any size, I???m using one that is 620200 with #ece9de background.

The first thing we need in order to achieve this effect is the font. So head on over to daFont and download the Galactica font and install it on your system.

In this article I'll show you how to make an unusual text effect.

Here I have a photograph of a cat that I’ll use in this tutorial:

-Now go to Edit>Preferences>Guides, Grid and Slices...

In this Photoshop tutorial I will show you how to make text that overlaps itself. It is a very simple tutorial but gives a great effect. This tutorial can be used on any sort of text that you make, you don't have to use the same style font that I use or have the letters look the same as mine, but I will also show you some cool things you can do with layer styles to make some cool looking letters. I will point out where the important steps are to achieve the overlapping effect.

4. Under layer style (layer layer style) add an inner glow blending option to your black text layer. Then set the layer's blending mode to lighten.

The first step is to open up Photoshop. If you can't get past this step, I am so so sorry...

1. Start off by creating a new document, any size you prefer. Grab your "Type Tool" and type some text. To make the text look more original you can combine different letters with different colors, similar to below.

With it now in position you are nearly finished all you need to do now is add some detail, like some drips of paint and extra splodges on the floor, this is all simple to do but just play around with the pen tool creating cool shapes and then don't forget to keep pasting the blending options onto each new splodge you do, and have fun experimenting, when you are done you will have something that resembles my finished product:

The font that I am using for this tutorial is called Kabel and can be downloaded for free. You can click the images to view them full size to see the details for the Blending Options. Lets get started. 1. Create a new Photoshop file, doesn't matter what size. Default is fine. 2. Create some text on your page like below:

This is the first in a series I plan on doing called Design 101. It will consist of tutorials aimed at designers who are more at a beginner skill level. Steps will be in great detail, explanations will be given, screenshots will be added, and source graphics will be provided (Note: I will be using Adobe Photoshop mostly, but the walkthroughs can be applicable to any design software. Source downloads are always at the very end of the tutorial).

Step 2. Zoom in to 200% magnification and then continue to create the shape below.
