I now want my finished text complete with effects/textures to be on one easy to edit layer. I can't merge layers down to achieve this as it will mess up some of my layer styles. Instead I simply hide my background layer and go to layer > merge visible. Play around with the two Displacement maps or use your own images to see the effects you can get, either select the region you want to distort or use it on the whole layer, have fun! S1: From here, you can do what you like., and more effects, ect. Try adding a crome ;) Looks good. I've found if you grab the polygon lasso tool, and make triangles, then press delete, it adds to that 'grunge' feel. You should now have something like this: I just dropped a background behind it ;) If not, don't worry, just keep on trying. This Photoshop video tutorial will teach you how to create a cool grunge effect from type using Photoshop. You will be learning the displace filter, blending modes, locking layer transparency, adding to selections and more... 8. Now a 1 px stroke around the text should finish it. You can add other effects as well if you wish. 6) Press Ctrl+e and it will merge the two layers into one. Delete the part to the left of the text, and then do a edit>transform>rotate 90 degree CCW
