In this tutorial I am going to teach you how to create simple 3D text in Photoshop. This is how it's gonna look like when it's finished:

And there you go, this was a long tutorial but it's finally finished! A new 3D Text effect with special smoke has been created, have fun with it!

Now double click the bottom layer, the layer with the text 3d effect and give the layers style panel the following settings.

Yet again I felt like making a 3d text effect in Photoshop, so here is how to make a stylish 3d text effect.

Step 1: Make a new file with 600px width and 300px height, and with #51676b as background color, you can change this when making the new file. Type in your preferred text, I used a default font so you won't have to download anything making this tutorial, the font I used is "Impact" which is available on all windows installations. I used color #33515e for the text, I advice you to use the same colors as me to get the same effect, after the tutorial it's wise to experiment with different colors and some minor changes to the effect.

Step 3: Now we have to make the 3d effect which which we're going to use a handy photoshop function for. When you have a layer selected and HOLD the ALT key you can duplicate that selected layer by using one of the arrow keys. What this does it duplicates and at the same time it moves the duplicated layer 1px to the direction your going with the arrow key. So for example you hold alt and press the down arrow key once, that will leave you with 1 duplicated layer 1px down from the original layer. Hope this is clear now so we can make the 3D photoshop effect. Make sure your text layer is selected, AND your move tool (the function will not work with any other tool). Then HOLD ALT and press the UP arrow key 6 times. This will leave you with 6 duplicated layers. You can't see the 3D effect quite yet, we're going to fix that in the next step.

10. 3D Text

In this tutorial im going to show you how to make a 3D looking text in just a few simple steps. First, open a new document about 300x140, with a white background. Select the Type Tool, and select a big bold font. I used Arial Black. Set the color to #999999 and enter some text like this:

To create our 3D effect, we need to alter the perspective of our text. There's only one problem though. Photoshop doesn't allow us to alter the perspective of text (see how that can be a problem?). To show you what I mean, make sure you still have the text layer selected, then go up to the Edit menu at the top of the screen and select Transform from the list. A secondary menu will appear showing all the various ways we can transform the contents of the layer we currently have selected. Notice how the Distort and Perspective options are grayed out? That means they're currently unavailable to us, and that's because Photoshop can't perform either of these two types of transformations on text.

Move your dark colored text slightly to the right and downward so that it looks like mine below, giving it the 3d dropshadow-look.

Now for the easy part, just hold the Ctrl button and press the up arrow key. You will see that your layer is duplicated time after tip just slightly above the last, making your text look 3d!

Now you can make more than just 3D text, just play around with your Layer Styles and then just do the Alt arrow and you can make many nice 3D looking objects.

Just found this great Adobe Photoshop video tutorial on how to make a great perspective text motion effect, I made it a while ago and actually forgot about it. But now when I found it, I would like to share it with you.

Intro: Create this awesome 3D text with a dissolve background to really kick this text effect into high gear. The font we're going to use for this photoshop tutorial is a default Adobe photoshop font (Hobo STD), if your photoshop version doesn't have the Hobo STD font you can probably download it from somewhere, if you need help with that just ask or use another good font. Below is what we're going to be making with this text effect tutorial:

Intro: Create an awesome 3D text effect with various photoshop filters (Plastic wrap, Blur, Sharpen) and other tricks that will make you a text effect master! Below is what we're going to be making with this text effect tutorial:

Now we can apply a nice gradient and inner shadow to the face of the text. We do this by either double-clicking the layer, or right-clicking and choosing Blending Options:

Duplicate the text layer and drag the duplicate underneath the original, then change the color of text to Black. Right-click the duplicate layer and choose Rasterize Type (or Rasterize Layer), and hide the original text layer. With the duplicate layer selected, goto Filter > Blur > Motion Blur. Choose an angle 45 and a distance of around 10-15. We should have something like this:

In this Photoshop Text Effects tutorial, we're going to learn how to easily wrap text around a 3D object in Photoshop, without the need for any 3D software. We're going to be wrapping our text around a planet, but you can use this same basic technique to wrap text around just about anything. You'll need Photoshop CS or higher for this tutorial, since we'll be using Photoshop's "text on a path" feature, and then we'll be using Free Transform to reshape our text into a 3D perspective. Finally, we'll be using a layer mask to hide the text where it passes behind the object, giving us our final 3D effect.

6. Now, we will add 3D effect. Make sure that you are on a copy of your text layer. Press with one hand CTRL + ALT and hold'em down, with other hand keep pressing right arrow. Press it untill you're statisfied with your 3D effect

Next, create a horizontal type mask, press X and then fill (with white). Load the selection of the layer wit the text on it. Show channels and create a new channel. Press D and then X on keyboard to reset colors to white and black. Fill the selection with white. Show layers and select the text layer and merge the layers.

1. Begin with a new file, size and color doesn't matter. Then take the Text Tool and type in something.

Add the text over the background.Select the Magic Wand tool, set tolerance to 2 and select the front side of the first letter.

This tutorial is going to be a little more advanced than the other ones I have done. It shouldn’t be a problem if you have been following along with our other tutorials or have a grasp of Photoshop. So lets begin.

4. In a new text layer type your name with white color right on the first name. Then nudge it up by 3 pixels.

Type your text, color doesn't matter and set your background to gray.

Here is a nifty little trick you may want to try.
