I've had a few people ask me for a tutorial on the numbered windows that you see in between each step on the tutorial pages, so here it is. Such a small graphic yet one of my longer tutorials.
There is a filter that will give us the frosted look that we need. Go to Filter menu - Distort - Glass, and adjust the filter settings to your liking. The result would be similar to shown here.
I also wished that you were able to learn something useful in this tutorial. This tutorial is just the basis of trying to replicate the window on a Mac, you can go further and add further details. Remember the whole point of a Mac is the detail and care taken in building everything that is why all of our steps detailed here go indepth on doing things certain ways so that it will achieve a specific look that is unique to a Mac. Below is the final product. Buh Bye!

Window Seat: The Art of Digital Photography & Creative Thinking by Julieanne Kost "Removing Imperfections" (Pages 130-131 from Window Seat: The Art of Digital Photography & Creative Thinking - courtesy of O'Reilly Media.) Once I've decided that an image is worth keeping, I begin by removing any dust, scratches, or other imperfections. In order to see every pixel in the image (which allows me to be as accurate as possible), I double-click the Zoom tool to zoom to 100%. I then enter full screen mode by clicking the full screen mode icon near the bottom of the Photoshop toolbar or by tapping the F key. This hides any other open images (as well as the desktop if you're working on a Macintosh). Next, I tap the Home key to navigate to the upper left corner of the document. My tool of choice for removing imperfections is the Healing Brush. To set the source point from which to copy, I place my cursor in a 'good' area of the image and Option(Mac)/Alt(Win)-click, then release the key, move the cursor to the problem area, and click and hold as I paint over the imperfections. To navigate through the image, I use the keyboard shortcuts Page Up and Page Down, which will move one full screen up or down. Adding the Cmd(Mac)/Ctrl(Win) key will move left or right one full screen. This ensures that I see every pixel of the document without unnecessary overlaps. Several images that I really wanted to include in this book had reflections from the windows or lens flares from shooting into the sun. The methods I use to correct this type of problem depend on the complexity of the reflection. If the area is simple?a reflection in the sky, for example, I will remove it with the Healing brush, using the method described above. If the reflection is over a detailed part of the image, I then use a more sophisticated technique involving dodging and burning. I'll begin by creating a new layer, filling it with 50% gray, and setting the layer's blend mode to Soft Light. The reason for adding this layer is flexibility?I don't want to work on the original image (in case I make a mistake), and I can't use the dodge and burn tools on a blank layer (thus the 50% gray fill). Changing the mode of the layer to Soft Light essentially hides the 50% gray fill. Using the Burn tool set to ...
In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial, we're going to learn how to create the illusion that light is being cast on to the subject of your photo through window blinds, using a displacement map to bend and wrap the shadows of the blinds around the subject in a realistic 3D fashion. We'll also be using a Color Balance adjustment layer to create a more convincing light source.
[24]-Now fill the selection with 'fffffa'color & then go to Blending Options, select Inner Shadow & use the following settings Photoshop Technique-How to use the Inner Shadow feature
Now "Ctrl" click the "Image holder" layer in the Layers Palette to create a selection around it. Open the image you would like to place into your new photo window and with a selection tool chosen, drag from the middle of the selection from the photo window canvas to your image canvas. Now the selection is on the image canvas. Put the selection where you would like it then drag using the move tool back to the photo window canvas while holding in the "Shift" key on your keyboard. This will center the image into the previously made selection.
Now go back to our inside layer and add a color overlay layer style, White, with opacity set to around 25% and Blend Mode to Exclusion. Again, play with the settings and find the best to fit your image and needs. Finally, reduce the opacity of the outside layer to around 15% to replicate a reflection on the glass. We should end with something like this:
Source: filename Layer: Merged Channel: RGB Blending: Normal Opacity: Lower the opacity to lower the strength of the reflection. Mask: Checkmarked Layer: Background Channel: Gray
Press Ctrl+A key (Select all), and after that Ctrl+C key, to copy everything that we have selected. Then, go back on windows layer and click on our layer to activate it.
In this Photoshop tutorial we will create a nice liquid text effect using a free texture found online, a radial gradient, a blending mode change and a few simple layer styles.
To set up a proof, go to View > Proof Setup, and select Custom from the menu. There are a number of different profiles from which to choose, including specific inkjet printers (such as the Epson printer in the example to the right) and commercial offset processes. You can also set the soft proof to preview what the image will look like on different electronic displays if you are tweaking your files for display on a specific type of computer monitor or for video. Window Seat: The Art of Digital Photography & Creative Thinking by Julieanne Kost Julieanne Kost is a Photoshop evangelist for Adobe. Her teaching commitments take her virtually across the globe, as she flies from destination to destination. In this book - Window Seat: The Art of Digital Photography & Creative Thinking - she has taken a collection of photographs that she's shot through the panes of glass of her airplane window seats, and gone on to create a book that offers a blend of professional expertise and inspiration for waning creativity. Our in-flight behavior varies greatly - many of us choose to take a nap while trying to avoid leaning too far into our seatmate's lap, while others watch the tiny drop-down screen and its offerings of archived news clips. Ms. Kost, on the other hand, uses the air travel time that we all-too-often squander in a vastly different way. She uses, to her creative advantage, the unique perspective offered from 35,000 feet as she collects a variety of photos taken through her win...
2. Now, repeat the previous step again to draw out an inner window, but now with 8px radius. Draw out the inner window with around 4px smaller than the Frame. You can draw the guideline for more precise result. Name the layer Window.
