Thank you for posting this tut... now, using any color, I can give my wires a more metallic feel when needed... BD

Quite a few people have wanted to know how the wires in the Apdzv5 interface were done so I'm going to explain how in this simple tutorial. Making the wires is just a case of drawing a line and applying a few layer styles to it. To draw the line I use the pen tool. I guess if you wanted, you could draw a straight line and then shear it like in a few tutorials I've seen but using the pen tools gives you more control over how you want the wire to look. So get your pen tool (shortcut is P). Check the top of photoshop and make sure your prn tool settings are as shown -

4. You can now add multiple wires with different curvatures to create a more realistic look. In the example shown below, a gray brush with an opacity of 50% and a bevel and emboss effect is used to paint solder marks at the the wires' ends.

The first step to create these tech wires is to decide where you're going to use them. I'm going to use some on my existing web page template, so you can get an idea of when and where these wires can be used.

Now CTRL Click on the layer with our wire on it, then go up to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects and use these settings.

Duplicate the 'Wire' layer set and resize it through Edit > Transform > Scale. Scale down the duplicate metallic wire by 70%. Then position the small metallic wires on the original.

I'm a real fan of wires and cables in my designs - They just add a certain something special in my opinion, yet remain unobtrusive enough to avoid becoming a main focal point. Unfortunately for us, however, the best way to create them uses the Pen Tool in Photoshop, which is tricky to control without practice. Still, the best way to learn valuable skills in Photoshop is to bite the bullet, so here goes...

Now we are going to create two groups of wires: the first one more simple and the second one where they interwave each other. Ok let's start with the first: - create a new layer and call it wire 1 - take the pen tool (P) and trace a curve line

Title: New Feature Learn photoshop tools Draw copper metal wire cable or pipe technique. This tutorial has photoshop instructions to design or make a copper metal wire cable or pipe technique

Open a new document, I've used 500x500 px. "Create new layer" og pick Rectangular Marquee Tool and make a long selection. My selection is about 30x400 px. Pick Gradient Tool and use "Copper" in Options Bar.

Now, with the outline of the wire still selected go again to path/stroke the path. And you should have your final product. This is what I came up with.

3. Now you got a black stroke looking thing. Remove the corners on each side to make it a wire looking thing with no ends.

Now you can even create segmented wires like these ones. Although this will only look good with thin wires. You can do this by adding a texture in the bevel layer style. Here are the settings that I used.

4. Drag the gradient tool from the top right hand corner to the middle this will be the color for the wire you can change the colors by going back to default by pressing ctrl + d but you might choose to pick a different side free.

This tutorial will show you how to re-create a strange effect used in Dr. Who for their alien "the wire" in the 2006 episode "The Idiot's Lantern". This tutorial is only gauranteed to work on photoshop CS & Better. So let us begin.

This Photoshop tutorial teaches you to create Logo for Modern Art Company. The dimensions used in this tutorial is : width 300px, height 300px and resolution 72px. This tutorial demonstrates the use of Pen, Rectangular Marquee and Gradient Tools. Here you will learn to create 3d cones and also make metallic spring using blending options in Photoshop. You will also understand the importance of grouping your layers. At the end of this tutorial you will be able to create artistic logos using simple techniques in Photoshop.

Hold Ctrl and click on the wire layer to load the selection of wire image. Select the wire layer and click on new adjustment layer button and select brightness and contrast.
