Double-click on the sun layer to bring up the layer style options dialogue box and check bevel and emboss (default settings).

Sunset photos can vary a lot depending on the time it was taken. Take the photo too early and it'll look dull. If you have a sunset photo that was taken too early, follow this Photoshop tutorial to learn how to enhance that photo of a sunset to make it look stronger and more vibrant.

We're going to pimp out our sun with some cool sun glasses. Start by creating a new file. Create a circular selection using elliptical marquee tool. Fill the selection with yellow to orange gradient in radial mode.

Despite been classed as fantasy art, this is a mere photomanipulation - make a fairy and your own mystic scenery; creating a landscape from scrap is now possible! I was inspired by the huge success of my previous fantasy art tut, which I posted in this forum last week I got quite a few emails thanking me for it and many PS blogs featured it, so I decided to give in to repeated requests from millions of loving fans and do one more fantasy / scenery tut

First make a blue backround so you can see the white layers. then using the line tool found in your shapes feature, make a 1 pixel wide vertical line. Ctrl J that, free transform, while holding down shift, move the arrow to the right until it's horizontal.

Sunsets and sunrises are an inspirational subject for any photographer. In fact, a good sunset photo is often the reason many people become interested in nature photography. You don't need to have a great camera or professional training; almost anyone with a camera can take great sunset photos. The great news is, good sunset photos are surprisingly easy to take. In my gallery, I don't actually display many sunset photographs. You see, they are hard to sell, because almost everybody has a few great sunsets they have photographed themselves. Rather than buy mine, they are more likely to grab their camera and show me the picture they took the night before! As a result, I am often asked to evaluate sunset photos by amateur photographers (occupational hazard for a nature photographer!), and I have learned to quickly identify where most people go wrong. It is not hard to expose a sunset photo; in many cases you can leave your camera on auto and it will do the work for you. The trouble people have is in making an interesting composition. It is not good enough just to photograph a good sky. The real challenge lies in turning a spectacular sky into a compelling photograph. Here are my five tips for taking great sunset (and sunrise) photos. Sunset Photography Tip #1. Learn to predict a good sunset before it happens. Have you ever seen a perfect sky, only to realize you didn't have your camera handy? In the five minutes it takes to get your camera and set up for the photo, the moment has passed. As brilliant as a sunset can be, the effect may last for only a few minutes, so you need to be able to choose your location, set up your camera, and be waiting for the show to start. Sunset Photography Tip #2. Be patient to get the best colours. The few minutes as the sun is crossing the horizon can be spectacular, but it is not the whole story of a sunset. As the sinking sun lights the clouds from below, often the richest colours can appear up to half an hour later. By this time it will be getting quite dark, so be prepared with your tripod. You may be shooting exposures of half a second or more to bring out the best in your sunset photograph. Sunset Photography Tip #3. Find a good foreground subject. This may be the most important tip of all. Time after time people show me their sunset photos, and all I can think is "Great sky...pity you didn't make a better photo out of it." We have all seen and photographed spectacular skies, so that alone is not enough to create your wor...

This Photoshop tutorial will teach you how to change the colour of the sunset.

When I think of the perfect sunset photo, my mind immediately fills with lots of warm reds, oranges and yellows as the sun gently sets across the water or beyond the hills. Sunsets are one of the most commonly photographed aspects of nature, and yet photos rarely manage to capture their intense beauty. What was once a sky filled with rich, golden hues often ends up looking cooler, less vivid, and ultimately less interesting.

Wow, this is simply inspirational. It looks straight like a scene out of Jack the Ripper. I will also link this from my blog! Two thumbs up!

Now our sunlight looks more real. If you want it brighter, simply press Ctrl-J to duplicate the current layer. You can use the Brush Tool (B) and pick a nice star shape to decorate your photo. Here is the final result:

To be able to follow this tutorial you will need two pictures, the first image is the one that you want to add the illusion of a sunset to, and the second image should be an actual picture of a sunset.

Congratulations! Now you have learned how to make one version of the sun! There are some examples below of finished products.

13. Link the sun layer, and the two clouds layers, and merge them (ctrl + E). Take your dodge tool with the brush size approximately 1/5th of the size of your sun (in my case, 65), range = midtones, and exposure = 50%. Now dodge around the exterior edge of the sun. This will give the sun some depth and realism.

8. Now to add color press 'Ctrl and U' - this will bring the hue/saturation window up, were your able to change the color to yellow, green, red, blue etc..

This Photoshop tutorial will teach you how to create a sun tan effect in Photoshop.

There is no doubt that sunsets are an awesome spectacle clearly demonstrating nature's majesty. Unfortunately, they are also over far too quickly and prone to interference from the weather, making them frustrating to capture. This tutorial is not a comprehensive solution, but it details a quick technique for converting a bland mid-day photo into a dramatic sunset scene. The results aren't perfect, but for the little time it takes you to do, the resulting images are surprisingly artistic and well defined. Before you start this tutorial you need to choose a suitable high-resolution photograph. I picked the image below, which I took at a nearby seaside resort. It was taken at about 1:00pm on a cloudy day, so the lighting is pretty flat.

For different photos, the process and amount of adjustment won't be exactly the same. But you could also use this technique to change the color of the sky or sunset to the color arrangement from another photo.

Next create a new layer and move it under "sun" layers. Set foreground color to #FFF088. Choose Brush Tool (B) and with this brush:

- Then use the eliptical marquee tool, and while holding down shift, create a circle selection. Make the selection almost as big as your canvas.

Create a new layer (Layer 4) on the top. Apply Filter > Render > Clouds and then Filter > Render > Difference Clouds several times. Press on the "Layer 1" holding Ctrl, and then delete the selection. Set the Blending Mode for the layer as "Color Dodge". And that's it.

Sunsets: there never was a more evocative subject, and there never was a subject that was more fraught with things that could go wrong. Get it right, though, and you'll create an image that can stir the soul. Now that fall has arrived, the sunsets are more intense, more colorful and infinitely more beautiful. The golden glow in the western sky of an autumn evening can be something to behold. The fire in the sky is an invitation to grab the camera and head for the open fields. Yep, we all, and I do mean all, crave to capture those awesome, inspiring last few moments when the sun slowly sinks into a golden, fiery furnace of its own making. We've all given it a try at one time or another, but most of us fail to really capture the moment. When we print it, or view it onscreen, the blaze of color that so inspired us is now little more than a pink tint in an otherwise blah sky. Sometimes it's simply a matter of timing: we were just that little bit too late or maybe we were simply in the wrong spot at the wrong time. Whatever, it never seems to turn out just right. But some photographers DO manage it we've all seen those spectacular images and they can do it, not only consistently, but to order. How? Well, capturing that stunning sunset is really not as difficult as you might think. All it takes is a little forethought, planning and preparation all done way ahead of the actual shoot; days, maybe even weeks. No, you can't know exactly when the sun will perform, but their will be indicators as to when it is likely to happen a partly cloudy, sunny day is often a precursor to a spectacular sunset. And you need to be ready, ready to get out and arrive on-site with at least an hour to spare. First, though, you need to figure out exactly where you are going to shoot these epic images you have to scout the locations. And there always is a perfect location; you just have to find it. It could be a beach, a meadow or pasture, a distant farmhouse, or a mountain vista. Whatever it is, there will be at least one specific spot where you'll be able to capture your sunset better than anywhere else. To find it, you'll have to scout the location during the daylight hours. You'll need to figure out exactly where the sun will set, and to do that you'll need to carry a compass. Drive around, walk the terrain, scout the territory, and MAKE NOTES. Ok, but there's more to picking the right spot than just the location. As important as location is, your sunset will almost always be...

If this still doesn't allow you to obtain the color you would like, try adjusting the Hue and Saturation by each color instead of just using Edit: Master.

Now you can make the wind effect more effective by merging all the text layers then making two copies of the full text layers. You can do this by pressing Ctrl+e to merge the layers down and then right clicking the merged layer and pressing Duplicate Layer. Next add some layer effects. I used Outer Glow and Bevel and Emboss on the defaults to simplify the tutorial but feel free to experiment. It should look at the picture below.
