10 very high-res stone textures for you to use in your designs. Each texture is 2000px wide, so they????????re pretty huge!

At this stage we have the main elements firmly established and we can now begin the final phase which is that of refining what we already have and painting in some details across the rock face. You can either do this on separate layers, work on the existing ones or even flatten the PSD file and then continue ??? it is up to you. It is wise not to continually create new layers as the file will become very large and navigating through it will become a chore ??? just preserve the key layers if need be.

Awesome Tutorial! I had no idea how to do this but I'm glad to find this. I really enjoy photoshop so this will be something I can use in my graphics! Thanks!

Spotted on an upturned rock in the park: A flock of wonderful red beetles, called firebugs (Thanks, Greg!), mating and sunbathing in the afternoon light against a classic stone texture. If you look closely, you'll notice they have different color patterns and some don't have wings these are the nymphs, the firebugs' offspring.

Today I was playing a bit with Photoshop to create a stone background for a one-week game I am developing for the experiment.

Yep, we're doing the natural thing again, after the wood and organic matter packs. Here are 14 rockin' stone textures you're not likely to find anywhere else. (And by not likely I mean there's no way you would.)

I figured out what he left off. When you do the lighting effects, set the Texture Channel at the bottom to Alpha 1 (or whatever you named the channel you created with the difference clouds.)

At this point the texture is ready for use in 3d programs and other projects creating 'carvings' in your texture is optional

Then go to Filter->Texturizer->Stained Glass: (when asked to rasterize, select "YES") (The following setting may vary depending on the size of your text). Cell Size:12. Border Thickness: 8 Light Intensity: 1

Let's Rock. Sorry, bad pun. In order to make my statue, you need two things: a good source pic and a good pic of marble (or any other stone). I thought the pic of Kate Moss was a good one, and I was able to find the marble I needed. This is the way I do things. The amazing thing about Photoshop is that there are many different ways to achieve the same results. Let's get started . (The keyboard shortcuts I use are for the Mac. Substitute control for command and alt for option if you use a pc)

1. This effect is sometimes called Rocky Text. Create new file with 72 PPI and white background. Type the text with thin font.

3. Layer > Layer Style > Bevel & Emboss ( Chisel Hard - depth 400 size 7 ) Select Drop Shadow and Texture under Bevel & Emboss styles

3. Just follow these simple settings to see what you can accomplish with this style, then play a bit and create something original

It sure doesn't look like stone to me, but by adding a layer style it will. Choose Bevel and Emboss, technique - chisel hard. Make sure that contour and texture is checked. Use the texture bubbels. Make a new layer and link it to the stonelayer. Press Ctrl+E to merge the layers. Nowq it is time to give the stone some color. Go to Image>>Adjustments>>Hue/saturation (Ctrl+U)and check colorize. Drag the hue to about 30-40. Add a drop shadow to get the stone off the surface. Done!!!!! Do you want to know what I wrote? Stone in Swedish.

[1] Take a new file of 400 pixels,400 pixels, of resolution 72 dpi in the RGB mode.

...to open the Color Picker window.

tarting with a default Dry brush I then opened up the brush presets and chose a suitable Dual brush and altered the Scattering settings until I ended up with a result similar to that shown below.

Step 2: Go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise and use the following settings:

First thing you need is your picture, you an use mine if you want for practice.

Use the text tool to write your title. Choose a large font and center it in your canvas.

2. Filter > Noise > Add Noise Rasterize the text when asked for. (Amount 16 - Gaussian - Monochromatic )

Colour set to #000000
