4) Duplicate the text layer. Now all we got to do is change the Color Overlay blending option to a grey type of color: 5) Now we want to use the Elliptical Marque Tool to make the selection of dots. Hold shift to make multiple selections. Make enough dots. For example: After making the selections right click the layer and go to Rasterize. Once the Layer is Rasterized you can now press DELETE. Also note I added a Drop Shadow to the Orange Text Layer.

Step 2. Make your text as big as you want it , and then to Layer > Layer Style > Stroke , And create A stroke using these setting below! Click the image for better screenshot of the settings

Step 2. Now select the Horizontal Type Tool out of the Tools bar. Then click anywhere on your image and type in something you would like to make the fresh effect on. Once you have put in your text just highlight it all and make shore the anti-aliasing displayed in the options is set to Strong. Also if you would like to know the font size in my image below is 45 pt.

3. Now here comes the fun part. Lets make some gold!! Ok right click the text layer. Go to Blending Options and apply all settings as seen below!

8. Now, using your brush tool, select a small grunge brush, and start filling in parts of the areas around the text:

Step 6: With the effects panel up on this rasterized layer, click "Stroke" and set a 1 pixel, outside stroke in the same color as the chalkboard text. Set the blend mode to "Dissolve", and the opacity to 30%. You should get something that looks like this:

Putting a black Outer Glow effect on the text certainly makes it stand out well, but this font style looks very unrealistic - it's just not natural for things to exude a black glow. I have used this font style extensively in the past, as it's very easy to do, but I have since moved on to other, less contrasting, more realistic font styles.
