Great tutorial. Like some other people here, though, I'm looking for a way to create a metal/brushed-metal image that can be tiled as a web-page background. Anyone here have any links to good tutorials that help to do that? In this Tutorial you will know how to artificially generate the text reflection on surface of a water body using Photoshop tools
The first action would be to apply a slight blur to the reflection. Ensure that you have the 'reflection image' layer selected in the 'Layers' panel. Then go to 'Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur'. When the dialog appears, use the following settings as shown in Figure8 below. Duplicate frame and hide the first drop layer. Unhide the next drop layer. Similarly hide unhide the layers to create a falling drop effect. And now go to Image>Adjustment>Hue and Saturation check the "Colorize" box and play around with the settings until you like the color of your martian surface Step 8: Now we will merge the copy of the text with the water by selecting the Distort option from the Transform submenu in the Edit Menu and then decreasing the height of the copy. This tutorial will show you how to make text appear as though it were placed on a reflective surface and it will work from photoshop version 7 onwards. Let us begin by placing some text on a 300px square document, like i did here. Red is a good colour to demonstrate here. 3. This is what you should have. If you are trying to get a cherry wood texture or another kind you may go to image>adjustments>hue/saturation. There you have a marble surface texture you can apply. This could also be used for a rustic metal look as well, here are some examples:
