Oops, that's not quite what I did. I did not create the vinyl group layer at all. I just created a regular layer above the background layer and did the noise and distort things described in the tut. Then I duplicated that layer and clicked on Overlay and did the contrast thing. Then I merged the two layers. I stayed in that merged layer and cut out the record. After that I continued to Step 5 in the tut. Again, I'm sure there's an advantage to creating the group layer and doing the masking, but I was unable to get the record cut out, as far as I could tell. Like Jessica, I'd sure like to know what I did wrong! Thanks!

Now, unhide the background layer. Click on the top layer (the combination of all the layers excluding the background layer). Make a selection in the middle of that layer and press delete. Our vinyl record is ready to play :)

Now, we?re going to draw our vinyl record. Pick the Ellipse Tool (press U on keyboard) and set it on Shape layers. Place the cursor in the middle of spin and while holding down shift and alt drag a circle near the edge of canvas. This way, the circle will be perfect.

One you have done that create a new layer and go Select>Modify>Expand and use 2pxNow fill the selection with any colour you like (I used #fa8100).

Start off with a file 500500.

Next we need to wrap the file so it blends with the angle the car is facing. Go to Edit > Transform > Warp. Set your layer fill to 50% so you can see everything under the image and wrap it to something near the shape below.
