We are going to take an ordinary somewhat clean-shaven man and give him a little facial hair. Step 1: To get started you will need a photo of someone that you really want to pick on.

The objective here is to transplant hair from another person's head to this bald's guy head, we all know it will look a bit weird, but most toupee's or hair transplants do. Let's just assume that the young guy donated his hair for this project :) Let's start by opening an image of a bald man.

In this tutorial we'll learn how to create a stylish, well-balanced logo. In this case, we'll use the techniques involved to create a logo for a hair gel. The tutorial does assume some prior Photoshop knowledge.

Writing a tutorial or article for the site is not only a great way to get exposure and give back to the community, but we'll also give you $150 cash to boot!

Accurately extracting models and their hair from a background is one of the most irritating and time-consuming tasks a digital imager can be faced with trying to make a smooth and detailed selection can leave you thumping the desk in frustration.

Intro: This tutorial was by request. Source photo from clipart.com. Model's natural beauty meant that very little correction was needed for skin tone and texture. But that beautiful curly blonde hair screamed for freedom from those pigtails. Here's how I did it... 1. Open your Layers palette if it's not already open. Make a copy layer of the original source by dragging the background layer to the New Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers palette, then letting go.

This Photoshop tutorial will teach you how to add facial hair to any photo.

Use the Burn Tool with a soft brush to paint some areas on her hair to make it look more real

When you start from scraps, it'll be nice to make a quick drawing to fit your hair. The implantation of the hair will be on the red line, 45?? from the ear to the forehead. Also draw the general shape of the hair

Step 4: Press Ctrl-J to create a new layer with the selected area duplicated so that we can process it as we want

You may, for whatever reason, be it to play around with an image or change a drawn character's appearance, want to add facial hair to an image. This can be done to great effect by using the variety of drawing tools in Photoshop. It is ideal to use a well lit image, but the effect can be applied to any image after proper calibration of your brushes.

Press "Q" to enter in quick mask mode. Then mark the hair area with the brush. You do not have to be very accurate around the edges.

Step 2 Now duplicate the layer and press ctrl-U to colorize it. Click the colorize button and drag the saturation all the way up. Now adjust the hue slider until it's the color you want. I thought Alyssa would look good with purple hair.

That will open a small window where you can define the color preferences of the new hair color. The easiest way to get your desired hair color is to play around with the bars until you get something you like.

In this tutorial we'll learn how to change hair color in Adobe Photoshop. First of all we need to select hair. Photoshop offers a few methods to do that- using Channels, Extract, KnockOut and MaskPro plug-ins, Lasso, Magic Wand, Pen and other tools. This time we'll use good old Quick Mask. Open your picture in Adobe Photoshop. I took a photo of my favorite actress Anastasiya Zavorotnyuk.

In this short tutorial, I'll share the technique I discovered while trying to quickly draw a creature with hairy body. Ideally, you need Wacom and a lot of time - then the hair you draw will be very good indeed. However, I found that this technique is not bad too, and it's much faster. So, to start with, create a shape of... something :-)

1: Create a new layer (Layer 1) over the original image. We will use this layer as the "base" for the new hairstyle. Using the brush tool, draw your preferred hair contour (is that what they call it?) as seen below.

Step 7 - I've brought out more individual clumps of hair and started to add a little more fine detail at this point:

I added some eyes and soft shadows on a layer OVER the face but UNDER the hair, here you can see the changes!! Hope you found this tutorial useful, more on tha way, Cya!

I felt that the hair color I chose was a bit too bright and unrealistic, so I went to Hue/Saturation and reduced the saturation a bit.

Selecting fly-away hair can be one of the toughest assignments in Photoshop. The Extract command can be helpful. Third-party plug-ins, such as Mask Pro (www.extensis.com) and KnockOut (www.corel.com), are great. But sometimes the easiest way to select those random strands of hair is right in your Channels palette.

You may find it useful to change the facial hair layer's Blend Mode to Multiply. Using different layers and opacity settings, you can be very creative and have some fun:

Learn how to use channels to cleanly cut out complex hair selections of both brunette and blonde hair on a studio style background and an outdoor scene.

You will learn a lot about how to select things in Photoshop using the techniques displayed in this video which will aid you in selecting many different things, not just hair.

Changing hair color in Photoshop (Brunette to Blonde, not Brown :P) is quite popular, but transforming a head of dark, or brown hair in not so easy, matter of fact most people would skip right over after a try or two and find a blonde or settle for something that does not look that great.

Now it is necessary to dye the area of the selection. This we do it with a New Fill Layer. Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color. Appears the basic properties of the new fill layer. Change the mode to Soft Light and if you want change the name. Click Ok.

A Photoshop CS3 tutorial on changing peoples hair colour. I assume it would work in previous versions as long as the same tools or similar tools are available.

This is a very basic tutorial, and with the tutorial to learn how you can change the color of hair to a model professional.

1. First and most difficult thing to do in changing hair color is to very accurately select the hair. In some cases Photoshop tools can be enough here. I prefer selection plug-ins. In this particular case I used Smart Mask soft mode for the job (duplicating the background layer, of course).

You can also switch between the two hair layers, slowing working on tidying it up so it looks natural - you can also delete bits on top of the hair and the strands to give the impression of blonde highlights. Play about with this until you get the desired effect, here's our finished image :

Download the arhive with the brushes. You have to extract the content of the arhive to,in my example, Photoshop/Presets/Brushes.Where Photoshop is my parent director.

Layers Magazine Editor and Publisher Scott Kelby shows you how to use the extract tool to fix "fly away hair" in your photos.

Photoshop provides a pretty easy way to make some fairly realistic looking facial hair. This tutorial will show you how fun and easy it is to add facial hair to a photo.

2. Change your background layer name to layer 0 by double click your background layer in the layer palette. Make a new layer under layer 0, and fill with color that contrast the hair color. In my case, since I'm going to select a dark hair, then I will need to fill it with white.

Open an image of girl with Photoshop. Create a new Layer, with the "Brush Tool" ( ), and choose this color #efe65, this is not important.

2. Zoom in so that you can brush over her hair easier. Create a new layer. Select a small white brush, and begin to fill in areas that will be highlighted:

Use this method to realistically change your hair color in Adobe Photohsop. Almost no skill is required, as it can be done in the easiest of ways. Watch as I show you how to experiment with an image's curves adjustments in order to find a hair color that's right for your new image.

Step 4 Tip: To minimize color drifting you can turn-off "Aligned" in the Control Bar so that each click you paint, the targeted reference point stays in the same general area. This is a technique that has some limitations (to be sure) and we would recommend that it be used judiciously. However, it works very well on small areas and particularly well for contrasting hair roots. Think of it as a "touch-up" technique of refinement. Why use a "2 by 4" when a toothpick will do?

As you can see, the Extract filter did an amazingly respectable job of selecting the frizzy hair. And by creating a copy of the original Background layer at the very beginning, we were able to use the selection we obtained from the Extract filter to create a non-destructive layer mask. This way we achieved maximum flexibility and were able to fine tune the mask as we wish.

Step 1: Select a gradient-for this tutorial I used a silver/grey on a Linear setting but you can use any gradient you wish for different effects.

Step 5 - I use a custom brush consisting of several small dots to sweep in "strands" of hair. This way works quickest and easiest for me. We're still bumping up those highlights and shadows.

With some simple brushing techniques, and a bit of color tweaking, you can spice up your photos with this flaming hair tutorial.

Thanks for this. But, I'm using photoshop 7. I don't know where is the hardness of the brush. This helps me a lot.

Hair selection in Photoshop can be tricky business. Trying to select the hair by manually erasing can be very tedious, and often will come out looking unnatural. Fortunately Photoshop from at least version 7 and up has a great tool for hair selection. As with most selecton tools, it will perform better with a high contrast background. In fact if you have dark hair with a white background, it will select hair nearly flawlessly. Pretty cool stuff here.

In this Photoshop tutorial, we're going to look at how simple and easy it is to change hair color in Photoshop by tinting and colorizing someone's hair in a photo. The technique we'll be learning here gives us complete control over what we're doing, with several different ways of fine-tuning the results, plus we can also go back any time we want and change the hair color without having to redo all the work! You can use this technique on photos of other people (friends, family, clients), or you can even use it on a photo of yourself to see how different hair colors would look on you!

I'm going to use a pretty simple way of not only selecting the hair, but also to change its color. Remember that each picture will have different problems to solve. The professionals always shoot their subjects against a solid color backdrop (usually green). We don't have this luxury, so we'll have to improvise. The first step is to select the hair (duh!). We could use the pen tool, but in this case (and with strands of hair all over the place), the quick mask tool will be a better bet. Hit 'B' on the keyboard to select the brush tool, right click, and from the menu that appears move the slider so that we have a soft brush (0% hardness). Now hit 'Q' to enter Quick Mask. Start painting over the hair. NOTE: We're not really painting so don't panic.

Erase sharp edges using eraser tool 4)Now our Green colored hair is perfect. Check out the image below: Green Shade on hair You can use the same method mentioned above to make a different shade. Check out the image below: Brown Shade on top portion of hair

The objective with this tutorial is to be able to highlight and change the color of hair by adding some highlights. In this scenario, we'll change this girl to have purple hair like a "Rocker" chick. Start by opening an image.
