This image was created using Photoshop 7; PS 6 offers adjustment layers but users of previous versions, and some other apps, will have to work around the use of adjustment layers, I'll offer an alternative solution at the conclusion.

Head into the Window menu and select Character. Highlight your text and reduce the tracking to -20 to bring the characters closer together. Now, let's curve our text a little bit.
