This is the first time I have ever tried to grow an avacado tree. I'm doing it with store bought avacados. If they bear fruit, fine. If they don't, they don't.

There is no need to remove the burlap. That is a waste of time and can potentially damage the root ball and the main leader during handling. The proper method is to cut the top 1/3 of burlap off of the root ball once it is in place. Then backfill around it.

This is very specific article, considering the title of "how to plant a tree" and is only really applicable for saplings and I suspect only for certain types of tree, perhaps this should be split into several articles ranging from seed/very young trees to transplanting almost fully grown trees, a table of when to plant different families of trees in different climates would also be worthwhile... too many of these articles say look up information X while not giving any assistance in where to look.
