Title: Free photoshop tutorial learn how to create torn paper and punch a hole Description: Great photoshop tutorial for web designers to learn new techniques and design torn or old paper
With respect to great tutorial here, does anyone know a printing company that will print your design on actual cardboard paper for business card possible with embossed text print?
In this Photoshop tutorial we'll be creating a scrap of notepad paper like the ones you've probably seen used in popular websites and blogs. Throughout the lesson I'll also be discussing the things I take into consideration when preparing a graphic like this for the web.
Next, go Filter -> Artistic -> Sponge. Make sure your foreground color is still #cfbba9, and the background is #000000. Set the Brush size to 10, Set the definition to 10, and Smoothness to 6, and hit OK.
Now you can see that the top left hand corner of the logo layer should be in shadow. Zoom in the change the opacity of the paint brush to 50%. In the next step of this tutorial, I will show you another way of producing the same effect.
Yesterday when I was surfing on the net, I found some great-looking websites using torn paper effect in their web design and I decided to go into Photoshop tools and find the ones that can do this effect easily.
I found this funny. Few days ago, I receive a mail from my friend. It is about the art of paper. I bet you see this before but that is real photo. However, I think over and figure it out. Now, I am going to create the paper cut art with Photoshop.
Still on the same layer we need to create another curve on the left hand side of the paper. Click on the Elliptical Marquee Tool select the subtract from selection option and subtract from the selection shown below.
Now create your text over the paper, and then right-click the text layer and choose Rasterize Layer (or Type). Then, making sure your paper is still the selection, goto Filter > Distort > Displace. Choose a few pixels distortion (no more than 5, depending on your document size), and then when you hit Ok you should be prompted for the displacement.psd - choose that, and voila:
Now you can add some more effects to the 'paper' to make it look more realistic and weathered. Go to the Filter menu or filter gallery in Photoshop CS and try something like Spatter.
Torn paper designing is very popular today. You have probably seen these torn paper designs in various websites. This tutorial teaches you to design a realistic torn paper which can be used in various design projects including webpages. Start by creating a blank file of your choice. Fill the background with dark gray color. Use rectangular marquee tool to draw a rectangle. Create a new layer by pressing shift+control+n together and fill the selection with white. This is the base of our torn paper design.
Not bad, huh? Let's proceed with further enhancements. CTRL+Click on the folded map layer (resulted from the merging of the layers) to bring the selection. Now press CTRL+T (Command+T on Mac) to enter again in the free transform mode. Right click and choose Distort.
Click on the lower right hand corner and drag your selection to the middle of your page as shown below. When you are satisfied with the folding press enter.
Now go here and download the paper texture. Once downloaded add it to a layer above the white canvas layer. With the magic wand tool select the hole you previously cut on the white canvas layer, select the paper texture layer and hit delete. Set paper texture layer opacity to 40%.
Create a new document 500x500 pixels, select the color "d2d2d2" then select the "rectangle tool" or press the letter "U" then draw out a rectangle. Make it look like a small A4 peice of paper. Now right click the layer that has been created and goto "blending options" and goto pattern overlay. then take the following steps.
Now choose the Blur tool and use that to blur the shadow we just created at the fold in the middle. You can hold SHIFT to only blur up and down. Now we can merge the two shape layers. A quick way to do this is to select the top shape layer and then press Ctrl+E to merge down. Now choose the Elliptical marquee tool and make a selection for the underneath shadow like so:
Paper is often made up of several layers which can become exposed when torn, to make the torn paper effect realistic create a another freehand selection using the Lasso Tool.
2.First,create a new layer now Create a new rectangular help by Rectangular marquee tool as shown below after that Right click select the Stroke .Width:1pix, location-outside,opacity-50%, color code# ADC7E8 now deselect or Press Ctrl+D
4. Now Our paper is looking pretty good now but lets continue on and get a little more realism out of it. On your paper layer go to Filter> Brush Strokes>Accented Edges and apply Edge Width: 2, Edge Brightness: 22 and Smoothness: 11. And that's it! You got your aged parchment. Now add some old english text or something old Fashion and your ready to go!
Now we can see the mountain sort of turning into a maze, and I thought I could make an exit sign for it. Create a new layer and call it "exit", use the Lasso Tool with a 40px feather to drew a selection anywhere you want on the image, I chose this spot:
Photoshop can help us create many wonderful effects. I'm sure you have noticed the torn paper look in my site's main interface, as well as on my navigation board above.
This week will be our last week of initial interviews for Graphic Design Artists, by this weekend, we will be testing individuals in their final rounds, but that first round closes this coming week
Step 4: Now go to Image > Adjustments > Brightness / Contrast. Increase your brightness by +75% and your contrast by +25%. Press OK. If you are looking for a crumpled paper effect, you can stop right here. Since we are aiming for a paper-bag style color, however, there is one more step that we need to complete.
I just felt like making a simple tutorial on how easy it is to use Photoshop standard textures and set up some layer styles to make a great realistic piece of paper. So in this tutorial you will see how easy it is to make a realistic paper in Photoshop.
You can create crumpled or wrinkled paper in Adobe Photoshop CS3 by applying just a few filters. In this video tutorial, you'll learn how to create crumpled paper in Photoshop CS3.
In this tutorial you have a chance to learn how to create a sheet of paper whose angles are stuck together with tape. Step 1 Create a new Document (ctrl+N) and set the dimensions whatever you like (mine dimensions are 400x400px). Step 2 For Foreground color set #FEFBDF and take the Rectangle tool. Using rectangle tool create a rectangle with dimensions which you like. Step 3 Double click on a new made Shape and set the options from the pictures below. Drop Shadow Gradient Overlay Stroke Note: For each point of gradient, opacity, location and used color is shown On Gradient Overlay Step 4 Choose now "Add ancor Point tool" and click on the border of shape which you want to edit. When you have created the ancor of points you must take the Direct Selection tool. Using Direct Selection Tool move the points to get the "curve paper effect" Step 5 Now we will create a tape whic will be on the paper edges. Using Rectangular Marquee Tool create a small rectangle. After that take the Polygonal Lasso tool to cut the rectangle's edges, in order to get the effect of turn off tape. When we outlined the cut off part, press delete to erase that part of selection. Do the same on the other side of rectangle. Step 6 Add the shadow and border to the part of tape ( white rectangle) and decrease its opacity to 60%. After that copy that layer and set it on paper angels, and using shourtcut CTRL + T rotate the part of tape where it is required. Step 7 Finally, we will add some text on paper and we're done! :)
I think there is a step missing somewhere in here. Could you go back over and edit? I've followed the steps twice and still end up with a blackish-blue paper in the end after I invert.

Step 1: Getting started. Create a new file, a bit larger than you want your finished paper to be, size doesn't matter. Make the background of your file white. Next you will have to create a new layer. For those new to Photoshop to create a new layer go to file, click until the drop down box appears, then select new. The new layer will then be shown on screen, as this point it might be an idea to give it the title of step one and change the background contents to white. Although a quicker way to create a new layer is to click Ctrl-Alt-SHIFT-N.
Step3: Creating the paper lines. Create a new layer, LayerNew Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N). Change the foreground color to #6072b5. Using the Line Tool , while holding shift draw three line to get the effect below. You can draw each line on its own layer.
You'll almost always want to add a little drop shadow to your paper scraps. Double click on the left side of the layer, right click and choosing Blending Options or choose Drop shadow from the lower left pop up menu (I'm not saying those again!)
Choose #B7B7B7 as FOREGROUND COLOR, and with the gradient tool paint a gradient like the image below shows. Set the CREASE layer OPACITY to something like 40%. Don't deselect your selection. If you accidentally deselected it, then go to the menubar and choose: SELECT > RESELECT and the selection will reappear. Look at the image on the right to see how the gradient looks on the paper texture.
