First of all, as usual, create a new document! For this tutorial I used a small size of 400�200. Now add in a background that will suit your industrial text. I used this pattern for my background.

Go back to Layer 1. If you haven't already fill the selection with the pattern. We will now apply lighting effects to this layer. Go to Filter>Render>Lighting Effects. This will help pull our buttons off the background, as right now they appear invisible against the background.

1. Create a new document (CTRL+N), type your text, I used the font DonteFont and give it a black color, make it big enough, I used 150, leave the background white for a better result

I added a bit of grunge brushing, then I duplicated the whole thing into one layer and applied Filter > Render > Lighting Effects.

Strictly horizontal lines are bad so let's add some variety. I decided to make a few vertical selections. Move these to the left or right a few pixels.
