Now double click the bottom layer, the layer with the text 3d effect and give the layers style panel the following settings.

Yet again I felt like making a 3d text effect in Photoshop, so here is how to make a stylish 3d text effect.

The first step to making your 3d text is to choose what type of text you are going to use. You can use my settings if you want. Click on your text tool, and edit the values below

Step 1 Find a place where you want your 3D-font... Then place your text (any font, any size) in any colour or style you like...

We're going to create some flaming hot 3D text in Photoshop, using a variety of filters and tools. This may get a big lengthy, so let's dive right in!

This tutorial is a simple but effective way to create 3D text using only Photoshop. Easy to follow tutorial with alot of detail, outcome is good and cathces the eye well!

This tutorial shows you some basic techniques using different blending options to get a 3D text that is in perspective, with a nice end result which really stands out.

This is a quick text effect tutorial on how to make a 3D wireframe effect, I will show you the basic principle of how to get the effect and will then leave you to experiment with the other letters,

Duplicate the text layer and drag the duplicate underneath the original, then change the color of text to Black. Right-click the duplicate layer and choose Rasterize Type (or Rasterize Layer), and hide the original text layer. With the duplicate layer selected, goto Filter > Blur > Motion Blur. Choose an angle 45 and a distance of around 10-15. We should have something like this:

In this tutorial, you will learn one of many ways to create a high quality 3D text effect using PhotoShop CS4.

If we look in the Layers palette, we can see that the text layer now looks completely different, and that's because it's no longer a text layer. Photoshop has converted it to a shape layer, which means we're now free to apply a Perspective transformation to it and create our 3D text effect:

In this Photoshop Text Effects tutorial, we're going to learn how to easily wrap text around a 3D object in Photoshop, without the need for any 3D software. We're going to be wrapping our text around a planet, but you can use this same basic technique to wrap text around just about anything. You'll need Photoshop CS or higher for this tutorial, since we'll be using Photoshop's "text on a path" feature, and then we'll be using Free Transform to reshape our text into a 3D perspective. Finally, we'll be using a layer mask to hide the text where it passes behind the object, giving us our final 3D effect.

This effect can be produced by any version of Photoshop; using the steps outlined below. Hopefully, everyone will come away from this tutorial with a better understanding of just how simple it can be to create a variety of effects from one image; without the aid of special plug-ins.

Creating a 'traditional' 3D text effect may not be something you'd want to do a lot. But for flyers, brochures, and other simple print mediums (and for the Web), it can be a good thing to know how to do. And why not? It just means you'll learn more about how to use Photoshop, right? Besides... it's not the end result that counts as much, but rather, knowing how to get there.

In this tutorial, I will show you how you can make a stylized 3D textured text effect using various textures to give it a unique look with Illustrator & Photoshop. I will be giving you the step by step instructions along with the links to the resources & stuffs used.

8. Now we need to duplicate the text layer, Keep Pressing the ALT and down arrow 30 times to create 30 duplicate layer, on this tutorial i have use 45 duplicate layer

Most of you probably know those awesome letters that were generated with 3D programs. But what about when you don't have any particular program and you need to make 3D typography? This tutorial will show you how to create the 3D text shape and give it a high quality metal look using pure Photoshop. Check it out!

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to combine stock images and 3D text into a cool poster. We'll use an icy theme for it and color it the way we want. You'll see it's not that hard to create a simple appealing poster with effective use of text and imagery.

Here is a link to the written version of the tutorial How to Create an Ice-cold Poster with 3D Text and the video version is below.

Digital Arts April 2009 - out now Free Photoshop resources How to handle clients Labs: Pro desktop storage CD: FREE! Carrara 6 Pro 3D suite, Flash CS4 video tutorials, and 10 high-res images

This tutorial explains how to create very simple 3D text that can be generated in minutes in any 3D package or even in 2D software such as Illustrator and give it life in Photoshop. The advantage of using Photoshop is that changes in texture, colour and lighting can be achieved much more quickly than in a 3D package. In a 3D program you're constantly changing things, re-rendering to see the effect and then going back to make more changes. In Photoshop there's none of that waiting around, and if you know what you're doing the effect can be just as impressive.

You can use the above techniques to apply to random shapes and the result will be something like rocks sinking in lava instead of text. Thats what tutorials are about, you learn, and apply the technique your own way.

STEP 4: Now, decide the effect that you want to apply. In this case, we will use a gradient. Select de Gradient Tool (G), and on the Options bar, select the colors to use: click to edit.

3D text in Adobe Photoshop is a lot easier than you may think and only takes a minute or two. Start off by creating a new document 300 x 300. Use the text tool to type something in. Im not going to worry about font and such as this is only showing you how to make text look 3D. Im just using the letters "TD". Now hold down the Alt key on your keyboard. And then press the down and right keys on your keyboard abou 6 times each one after the other. You should see your text turning 3D. And thats all thats to it. Basically what your doing is duplicating the layer and moving it slightly to give the impression that it is 3D. Easy :D

So add this layer styles on all layers except background layer and " DIGITAL copy 10 " - this is my layer name.

You can use the above techniques to apply to random shapes and the result will be something like rocks sinking in lava instead of text. Thats what tutorials are about, you learn, and apply the technique your own way.

Go back to first text layer and in Filter use renden>Lens Flare. Repeat this step for several times and move point every time to other location.

Now we're at the last step of giving the text the 3D effect. To do this, we'll need to burn the places where there should be shadows, and dodge the places that should be shiny like the curves. Confusing...? Yes. Refer to the image above by clicking it. Just use the burn tool to make it more darker and so you know there's a space there for shadow. Then for the dodge, use it on the curves so it shines.

2. Then go to the layers palette and right click on the text layer. Choose Blending Options, and then apply these settings.

Now duplicate the text layer, there's several ways to do this, one way is to right click on the layer (in the layer palette) and select "Duplicate Layer".

Then "Ctrl" click the new shape layer in the Layers Palette. Be certain that you have the top white text layer selected in the Layers Palette, then go to "Edit" then "Cut". Turn the Fill down to 32% and your done. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

With your new document, lets create your 3D text. I'm using Arial Black, size 300px. (Note: DO NOT use the "Faux Bold" option on this text or the next step will fail).

With the following tutorial you will learn to design a text in third dimension, the tutorial is very easy to follow.

Duplicate the layer again and add some perspective, change the opacity (to create a drop shadow effect) and you have a nice 3d text:

1. Let's start out by creating a new file. We will be creating a 3D text effect with special smoke. I used a 800x300 pixels canvas set at 72dpi, and I filled my background with a black color. Then make a new layer set and name it 'text design'.

Select the text tool (T), and type in the text which you would like to transform into 3D. In this case i just used the words "Text".

Ok now this is the last step. Go and select the background. Then go to Layer/delete layer. You should be on a transparent checker board now right? Ok great. Now your going to go to Layer/merge all layers. Everything should be merged now. After you've done that go to layer/layer style/stroke and give it a two or three pixel stroke of a nice color that blend s in with your text. Once you did that go to layer/new layer and call it background. Once you have that layer color it in with a color and place your 3d text above it, and you should be done. Try doing more to it though, maybe add a reflection if you don't know how to do that go to our reflection tutorial in basic effects. Good luck!!!

Create new layers in between each letter to paint some black (#000000) shadows with Soft Brush tool. Mask these shadows the same way done for the Floral layers.

6. Now for the fun part. With your text/shape selected, hit Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow so it copies that layer and nudges it down 1 pixel. Do this 25-35 times until you have your desired thickness. Your layer palette will look like this.

2. Create a new layer and move the text layer above the layer you have just created and hold CTRL + E to merge them together. Edit -> Transform -> Perspective - once that's done, click on the small box on the bottom left and drag it left to give it a better look.

5. Make the layer with the copy of the text visible again and set opacity for this layer 70%. Press V to switch Move tool. Put the text layer in front of the 3D text. Then make a copy of the text layer (see above how to make it). Set 30% for the opacity of the new layer and put it with the backside of the 3D text. That?s it!

Select your Type Tool(T), click on the background and type in your text. I just wrote "3D". Don't worry about colour's at this stage. And ensure that the text is NOT in bold.

Place this duplicated text behind the original text. Use your arrows keys and tap the Up and left keys. I tapped up 4 times and left 3 times and got the 3D effect.

Once you have done all of this, your design is now ready for export to ImageReady to create the physical animation.

I used the 105mm Prime lens type. Unlike the other two, this flare is mostly white glare. (above image, text [3])

Whew! Ok, this is almost done. For creating the animation, I used Fireworks MX. This is my first time to use it so I kinda fumbled around with it.

Now select all duplicate layers except the one on top by shift-clicking, and then press Ctrl+E to merge. We should now have just 3 layers - the face of the text, the shadow of the text, and then background layer.

Create a simple refection effect with a bit of a 3d effect, I've seen this tutorial done many times but i rarely see this effect taken to the next level, also since reflections are distorted 90% of the time, they may be squeezed, bent, or swirled out of proportion , But that's a matter of taste i suppose. In this tutorial i will be adding a bit of perspective to create the illusion of 3d space, As well as shrinking the reflection for added distortion. Here we go:

First off... make sure the 'chrome' & 'scratches' layers are not visible -- hide them. Then duplicate the 'Text 3' layer. Press Ctrl/Cmd+I to invert the shades of the gradient. Then apply a 2 to 3 pixel Gaussian Blur to the layer; make sure the type is not selected. I used 2.5 pixels for mine. Then set the layer's Blend Mode to Difference. And finally, use the Move tool and nudge this layer down 3 pixels. Now from here it gets very easy... duplicate the 'text 3 copy' layer, and invert the shades -- press Ctrl/Cmd+I.

4. Now that you have added some depth to your text, we're going to give it a 3d proggy-like 3d style. Now, insert a layer below the top layer. Click on the top layer, and press (ctrl+e). DO NOT MERGE THE Background LAYER!!!

1. Begin with a new file. Its size and color are irrelevant. Then take the Text Tool and type in your text.

Then, duplicate the text layer in the Layers Palette and drag the duplicated layer so it is just above the background layer in the Layers Palette. Name the duplicated text layer "Text 2" in the Layers Palette. Then change the color of the "Text 2" layer to 646569.

Then "Ctrl" click the new shape layer in the Layers Palette. Be certain that you have the top white text layer selected in the Layers Palette, then go to "Edit" then "Cut". Turn the Fill down to 32% and your done. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial.

This Photoshop tutorial teaches you to create a 3D and glossy Text effect with border. The dimensions used in this tutorial is : width 200px, height 200px and resolution 72px. This tutorial demonstrates the use of Pen Tool, Elliptical and Rectangular Marquee and Brush Tools. This tutorial teaches you to create your own checked pattern that can be used in the design background and give a glossy or wet effect to your text / images using some simple techniques in Photoshop.

Now Select your text layer. Hold ALT and press the right key several times. This will duplicate the layer and move it one pixel to the right. This is what I received so far. You should have something very similar. Don't worry if your text is really hard to read. We will fix that.

1. Create a new 165x165 pixel document and name it Ice Text. Now press D then X and fill the document with white. Then create a new layer, name it 'text', and select the horizontal type mask. Click on the document and write the letters you please. Then when you click on the little checkbox (upper right) you will get a selection of the text. Fill the text with a dark blue [R: 0, G: 31, B: 86]. Then contract the selection by 3 pixels. and fill with a lighter blue [R: 0, G: 118, B: 163].

Create a new document in Adobe Photoshop with the size 400x400 pixels and a white background. Type a text with a red color. I used the text "web" for this tutorial:

Note: These effects aren't needed, but they provide nice details to the final product. Now that we have the basic 3D effect, we can add more effects to give it a reflection, and an environment. Select the original text layer and add a faint drop shadow to it. Select the layer set, and press CTRL+E (this will merge all the layers inside.) Duplicate the new layer (CTRL+J) which use to be the layer set, and lower its opacity to about 20%. Position it below the 3D text, so it looks like a reflection. There are many tutorials about reflections in our database if you need any more help. On my background layer, I also added a faint gradient instead of just a white backdrop.

Use this effect to create your own 3D translucent text. In this tutorial, you will learn how to use four layers and one filter to create a 3D translucent text.

Now, you will create a 3D effect. Hold down Alt+Ctrl key and press few times right arrow key on the keyboard. Look at the picture below.

2. Now go to the layers palette and right click on your text layer, choose Blending Options and apply this settings.

1. Create a new 165x165 pixel document with a resolution of 100 and name it Icicles. Now press D and fill the document (with Black). Then create a new layer. Next, create a horizontal type mask, press X and then fill (with white). Load the selection of the layer wit the text on it. Show channels and create a new channel. Press D and then X on keyboard to reset colors to white and black. Fill the selection with white. Show layers and select the text layer and merge the layers.

3. Ok now you got your text typed out on your stage. Choose a nice bright color. I used #4297BF. Right click the text layer and go to blending options. Select these options:

Colin's graphic design work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Guru awards at Photoshop World 2001 and 2002, for his work in both Illustration and Web Design. He's authored or co-authored more than ten books on Photoshop, including the best-selling How to Do Everything with Photoshop CS (McGraw-Hill/Osborne, 2003) and award-winning Photoshop Most Wanted: Effects and Design Tips (A Press/Friends Of Ed, 2002). Colin is also creator of the Photoshop Secrets Video training series (PhotoshopCD.com). He is in high demand across the United States as a lecturer, presenting his Photoshop techniques to Web designers and other graphics professionals across the nation.

That?s it!

Now you can make more than just 3D text, just play around with your Layer Styles and then just do the Alt arrow and you can make many nice 3D looking objects.

15. Press CTRL+ALT+UPARROW to duplicate the layer and move the new layer 1px up. Do this many times until you have got the height you want of your 3D text.

1. Write your text (T). I choose the "AllStar" font, a free download on DaFont.com, because you can see through it, which makes for a nice effect. The color you start with, is not the final color of your text, but instead the color of the 3D-part, the depth actually. Therefore, I took gray as color.

Place this duplicated text behind the original text. Use your arrows keys and tap the Up and left keys. I tapped up 4 times and left 3 times and got the 3D effect.

2. Open the warp text tool, it's the little box in the toolbar with ABC written on it. If you don't see it, select your type with the text tool.

In this video tutorial you will learn how texture a 3D logo scene outside its native environment. Working with the pen tool select the appropriate surfaces, apply textures and use blend modes for stunning results.

In this tutorial, it is going to show you how to create a 3D Typography based design. It is quite nice to use the trees to do some combination with the text. Sometimes, the text can be presented with a nature scene which can increase the attractiveness to the users. Just try of different scene!

And there you go, this was a long tutorial but it's finally finished! A new 3D Text effect with special smoke has been created, have fun with it!

Step 4: Duplicate the top TEXT layer (so not the shine layer), name this layer GLOW. And change the outer glow to the setting below. * It now looks very bright but we'll fix this later! Now we have all our materials to make this glowing layer an animation glow, but we have to do this in imageready which I'll explain in the next steps. First save the PSD!!!

Step 1: Make a new file with 600px width and 300px height, and with #51676b as background color, you can change this when making the new file. Type in your preferred text, I used a default font so you won't have to download anything making this tutorial, the font I used is "Impact" which is available on all windows installations. I used color #33515e for the text, I advice you to use the same colors as me to get the same effect, after the tutorial it's wise to experiment with different colors and some minor changes to the effect.

ANYWAY, the reason for my message is to try find out why it is that when I get to step 2E and I paste my newly created 3D text into PS as a smart object it loses it's 3d properties and then looks like a normal flat 2d letter. I've used the same font as you, although the bevel is different and my lighting setting is a tad different but I fail to see how that makes a difference when copying.

Intro: Create an awesome 3D text effect with various photoshop filters (Plastic wrap, Blur, Sharpen) and other tricks that will make you a text effect master! Below is what we're going to be making with this text effect tutorial:

Intro: Create this awesome 3D text with a dissolve background to really kick this text effect into high gear. The font we're going to use for this photoshop tutorial is a default Adobe photoshop font (Hobo STD), if your photoshop version doesn't have the Hobo STD font you can probably download it from somewhere, if you need help with that just ask or use another good font. Below is what we're going to be making with this text effect tutorial:

Now we need to transform the text, in text mode, we cannot transform much of the text, we can rasterize the text, this will turn the text into bitmap image, the downsize is that when we transform the text, we will lose its crispiness. Another method we can use is to convert the text into vector shapes, so lets go ahead and do that. Layer->Text->Convert to shape.

6. In the layers panel hold down ctrl and click the hidden layer to load the text selection, make a new empty layer above the effect layer and then go to edit -> stroke and make a white stroke about 4 px.
