This is an excellent set of very high resolution brushes by Obsidian Dawn. This set of free brushes contains 26 different brushes showing all sorts of different lightning patterns with resolutions ranging from around 1300 to 2500 pixels. This makes them suitable for use with just about any Photoshop project. The different brushes give you a great choice of different types of branching of the lightning bolts and different directions that the arcs can go in. These of course will also look great with magic and alchemy effects, and they can even make believable looking veins and blood vessels. Here's an example of the look you can achieve with these brushes:
This set of brushes with somewhat abstract shapes tend to resemble smudges and grunge type effects. They can be used as textures or to create special effects. These brushes were created by Metal-CX and consist of 14 brushes with resolutions ranging from 250 to 500 pixels.

Then create a new brush with Edit > Define Brush Preset, enter the brush name, for example, Flower_1 and press Ok to save it, then it will show up in your brushes. Create a new document sized 1000�500 pixels with all the default settings, RGB, 72 dpi, white background etc (in the future for this tutorial we will create a couple of new documents with the same presets to demonstrate brush presets). Select the Brush Tool and find our created brush in brush palette:
At long last? The 3rd installment of the now famous Sidewalk Series of Photoshop brushes. This set includes 9 high resolution brushes of what I can only describe as concrete rust. These are spots on the sidewalk that appear as worn areas of brown rust, usually caused from a hole or chip in the concrete. These are great for adding a bit of grunginess to your design work. Enjoy!

Here at Getbrushes we just love grungy stuff! We do, really. Cracks, dirt, rust, decay, anything to get that nice grungy feeling is automatically a favorite in our hearts and these 9 Photoshop brushes are a very good addition to our collection.

Here you can find brushes and related downloads. Photoshop's abr brushes can be used in the Gimp as of version 2.4. There is also a free utility called ABRviewer which can be used to browse and export PNG's of images contained in abr files (if you need to use it another paint program).

Well, simply put, I utilized a number of unique watercolour painting techniques in order to give it a more grunge feel. These effects were achieved by using salt, alcohol, plastic wrap, tissue paper, etc? I felt this was more of a non-traditional approach, and would be a great asset to your brush arsenal. Fur Brushes for Photoshop CS3+. Completely original brushes. To use these brushes properly simply apply the 3 furry brushes in a clockwise motion; each follow your cursor so it can create layers and layers of fur in the same direction. The leopard brush is a soft brush that overlaps leopard skin texture. For fun, I'm going to increase my brush tip count to its maximum value of 16, which will give me 16 brush tips each time Photoshop would normally give me 1. I'm also going to increase my brush tip count jitter to a full 100% to give me the maximum amount of randomness. Let's throw in a Size Jitter value of 100% as well, which is found in the Shape Dynamics control panel which we looked at in the previous section. And, to allow us to really see what's going on, I'm going to throw one more brush control into the mix - one we haven't looked at yet (at least not if you've been following along in order), an "Opacity Jitter", which is found in the "Other Dynamics" control panel. Opacity Jitter will allow Photoshop to randomly change the transparency levels of our brush tips. I'm going to set my Opacity Jitter value to 80%. And now, I'll paint my brush stroke:
Now we'll be able to see much more clearly how Size Jitter affects our brush. I'm going to go back to my Shape Dynamics control panel by clicking directly on the words "Shape Dynamics" in the left column of the Brushes palette as I did previously, which will not only take me back to the Shape Dynamics control panel, it will re-enable Shape Dynamics as well. "Size Jitter" should still be set to 100%. Now take a look at the preview of the brush at the bottom of the Brushes palette:
* Note that Photoshop CS2 also includes the Color Replacement Tool with the Brush and Pencil tools. In Photoshop CS, the Color Replacement Tool is found with the Healing and Patch tools.
