Locking layers in Flash CS3 is useful when we want to manipulate some elements on the stage without disturbing any of the others. Another option that is helpful is the hide layer option. This will hide the layer so that we can work more easily as the number of elements on the stage increase, but will still appear in the final output.

This is quite a pleasing way of making animation in Flash work with HTML text. It's incredibly simple, and the principle relies on Flash's getURL() ActionScript, which is more versatile than you might think when used imaginatively with other programming languages such as JavaScript.

With the release of Flash CS3, Adobe has made the process of adding closed-captioning information to video files a whole lot easier. Taking the time to provide captions for your video is not only helpful for hearing-impaired viewers, but captions are also very useful for those times when people just can’t listen to audio.

2. Open the Actions panel (F9).

In Frame 51 move the match off of the right side of the Stage. Select Frame 41. In the Properties panel select Motion from the Tween menu.

Did you know you're able to tell Flash to play a Movie Clip without placing it on the Timeline? That's right, and it only takes a few lines of ActionScript.

The video components in Flash have come a long way over the years, and now they come with a host of skins that are pretty nice from a design point of view. However, I've always preferred to create my own custom video player skins, and with Adobe Flash CS3 Professional, customizing components is easier than ever. In this tutorial, we'll create a nice, minimalistic skin that can contain any or all of the video controls that are supported in Flash. Flash CS3 comes with new user interface (UI) components that allow you to rapidly create applications. These ActionScript 3 components have a smaller file size than their predecessors and are much easier to style and skin. We’ll show you how to create a simple component-based Flash application that allows the user to dynamically change the font size of a text area. Font size control is nice to have for accessibility purposes, in addition to just being cool to play with.

In the Properties Inspector, Command + F3 (PC: Ctl + F3), give the component the instance name "video".

Insert a new layer above the “mask” layer. Rename the layer “button”. Insert a Keyframe in Frame 2 (F6). Drag an Instance of the “oval” on to the Stage and position it over the masked area. Control-click (PC: Right-click) on the oval. Choose Convert to Symbol from the menu. In the Convert to Symbol dialog enter “invisible” in the Name field and choose Button for the Type and click OK. Double click the button to open its Timeline. Click and drag the Keyframe (black circle) in the Up state to the Hit state. Click the Scene 1 button to return to the Main Timeline.

Delete the House from the Stage. From the Library, drag the Symbol “House copy” onto the Stage. Double-click on the House copy Instance on the Stage to open its Timeline.

Move the Playback head to Frame 1. Double-click on the Instance of "house dark" to edit its Timeline. Select the doorbell. Choose Window > Actions to open the Actions Editor. Turn off Script Assist by clicking the Script Assist button. Type the following code:

The reasons are many, and these levels that use the sketchers, are equivalent to the Layers, which Flash uses. Each layer is, therefore, a level in which we can draw, to insert sounds, texts... with INDEPENDENCE from the rest of layers.
