In this instance we have a logo that was scanned from a business card. Many times I can use Live Trace to get a good replica of the logo. In this case the logo has too much degeneration to get a good copy. So, I'll have to recreate it. By the way, this is a real job I need to do so I'll show you how it's done.

In this tutorial we'll make a really simple-to-do interesting logo.

Then, and apply the following settings:

Dead set, fkn “STOKED” I found your blog. Awesome tuts…

E-mail (required)

As previously mentioned, the logo started out as a bunch of sketches, these were developed on paper and the designs I was happy with were scanned in. In Adobe Illustrator the image was placed on a locked layer, the outline of one of the peaks was traced and taken to one side. It was important not to trace the sketch entirely because there wouldn???t be any accuracy, instead the elements were laid out to specific measurements to ensure the logo would look good even at large sizes.

A personal project I'm currently working on with a developer friend is a website called myNiteLife. As part of the overall design process one of the first jobs of the project was to develop a logo and brand for the website, follow this step by step documentation of the whole process of the logo design from conception to completion.

Designing a logo is a common task in Adobe Illustrator. In this final project, we will sum up what we have learnt so far in Illustrator to create your own custom logo. I will show you the process in drawing a logo and hopefully you have more confidence after this tutorial.

Make a circle with the Ellipse Tool. Add the 'X' with the Pen Tool.

Step 1: Open your Illustrator program. Create a new document with any Artboard Setup and select RGB Color for Color Mode. In this tutorial, I've used 500px x 500px artboard setup.

For the past few days, whenever I could find time I have been working on putting together a simple tutorial that will show you how to create a logo for my feature post "Heads Up Seven Up" Blogroll. The logo was created with Adobe Illustrator, which is a bit of a specialized illustration program. The reason I choose to use Illustrator for something like this is that it creates vector graphics, which is quite different from Photoshop with creates bitmap graphics. With vector graphics you can shrink, enlarge, twist and shape the images without messing up the quality of the image. I can also import the file created in Illustrator right into Photoshop to create a smaller image for web!

In this post I will show you how we created the logo. I will skip the drawing parts, yes there were tons of drawings before going to the computer, because when they stole my computer and backups in 2006 they took all my photos of the drawings.

In this tutorial I hope to illustrate some of the process of logo design using Adobe Illustrator. However, I must stress, this is not so much a tutorial on the use of Adobe Illustrator as it is a way to show you one method of the "process" of refining an image to a corporate identity (logo) or stylized illustration. The basic process here could be applied to any application.

Perhaps one of the most underutilized features in Illustrator is Live Trace, which can convert any photograph into vector art in just a few clicks. In this tutorial, we're going to use Live Trace to vectorize a photo for a logo design. Now, of course, all images are different, so depending on the final effect you want to achieve, you'll need to experiment with the settings that we'll be using here.

Dave Cross creates some grungy text graphics. By combining tools from Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, he creates a smart vector object that can be edited on the fly.
