In this short video tutorial, Adobe� Photoshop� Lightroom� expert Matt Kloskowski of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals shows you how to use the Edit in Photoshop command in Lightroom 2.0 to open your images in Photoshop for fine-tuning. He shows you how to control the settings Lightroom uses when opening images in an external editor, such as Photoshop.
Note: When using Photoshop on a 32-bit computer or operating system, Photoshop is only able to use 2 GB of RAM. Photoshop is able to use around 3.5 GB on a 64-bit system. Some version of Windows� requires modifying the boot.ini file to allow Photoshop to use up to 3 GB of RAM. The 3GB switch may not work with all computers. Hello, this tutorial will help you to learn how to brush in a signature/wallpaper, and understand some basics of Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and higher. Firstly, please make sure that the brushes you will be using are in your brush folder. Check the following location to see if any brushes are there:
4. Now select everything in your layer by highlighting the layer you want to center (left click the layer once), and then hitting Ctrl+A. A flashing box should come around your image. Now its time to center. Near the top of Photoshop, you should see a tool bar that looks like this:
First off, were many of you aware that Photoshop has tons of custom shapes which you can use to your advantage?
The status bar contains different information about your workspace. You can choose to view different information from the pop up menu such as scratch sizes, document sizes, efficiency as you can see. Whichever one of these is selected is what specific information will appear on the status display.
Concept : In the Dissolve mode, Photoshop will randomly change the layer pixels to 0% opacity and other will remain to 100%. This effect can be checked when the layer is set to the opacity less than 100%.
In this tutorial, I'm going to show you some of my own techniques I use in Photoshop to replicate great photography. In photography, you can set f Stops, which basically are you focal range. There is a lot to this, but basically, low f Stop means a WIDE range of focus, so basically the whole picture is in focus. Those nice pro shots you see when just the subject is in view, are shot with high f Stops. Now, I have a nice camera, but a lot of the time I don't have the time to set up f Stops, or mine won't go as high as I'd like. So, I turn to good old Photoshop to replicate it.

If Bridge and Photoshop irritate you when they periodically check for the latest updates, chances are you have not clicked on the Preferences button in the Adobe Updater dialog box when it has finished checking. To do so, choose Help>Updates in either application and then, after the Adobe Updater has finished checking for new updates, click the Preferences button. Doing so opens the Adobe Updater Preferences dialog box (Figure 5-2). In the dialog box, you specify how you want to check for and where to download any available updates for Photoshop, Bridge, Help Center, and Stock Photos.
Photoshop will then by itself select image format and quality of photo. For our photo we'll get quality 33, JPEG format and file size of 19.85K.
So, it's an excellent idea to save your colors for future use. That's where the Swatches palette comes in. It's your color storage palette. In the following tutorial, I will discuss some of the many ways you can bring 'lotsa Swatche' into your Swatches palette.
Use the same procedure to save sets of swatches, styles, gradients, etc. Quit Photoshop 7 and open Photoshop CS. From the Actions palette menu, select the command Load Actions, then navigate to your subfolder and load your .atn file(s). Use the Preset Manager to load sets of brushes, styles, etc. into their appropriate palettes. Remember, too, that if you obtained your custom bits and pieces on a CD (such as Jack Davis's "One-Click WOW!") or through a download, you can and should install into Photoshop CS directly from the original files.
5. Open Settings menu on Optimize palette (screenshot) and test the standard settings. Look at the image window and note how image quality and file size (on status bar of image window) change. We can choose from 4 web formats: GIF, JPEG, PNG-8 and PNG-24. In this tutorial I will use JPEG and GIF optimization only, because of more favorable size-to-quality ratio.
Look at our sample image. Narcissus covers about 20% of overall area, inscriptions about 10% and approximately 70% of the picture are almost black. Why should we save all the image with equally high quality? Channel-based weighted optimization solves this problem.
Since I am best known for my Photo realistic Photoshop techniques, I think its time for me to show you how to create something. We are going to create a realistic cobblestone path in Photoshop 6. Adapt these techniques and see what variations you can come up with on your own.
In this tutorial I will teach you how to merge different photos to make a panorama. A panorama is wide view of a large scenic area. Unfortunately, most cameras/lenses cannot capture the wide view of a large scenic area in just 1 shot, so that's what Photoshop is for. If you're ready, let's get started...
3. Now you can also use the slice select tool, to resize slices that you made and you need to change. Once your interface is perfectly sliced up, we will save the image. Go File > Save For Web. A New window pops open. If you want a really good quality picture, you will want to select JPEG High from the Presets drop down menu, and change the Quality to 100. I personally like keeping filesizes as small as possible so the webpage loads fast. Click Save, and then you choose a filename, I named mine 'blah' and then when it saves, it makes a folder called 'images' with my 4 slices in it, [blah_01.jpg, blah_02.jpg, blah_03.jpg, blah_04.jpg].
When saving in a format that can maintain vector artwork or type, you'll need to ensure that the Include Vector Data option is selected. You'll see check boxes in the various PostScript file format options. While both the EPS and the DCS option dialog boxes warn about reopening files in Photoshop, but the PDF dialog box does not.

Improved Character Palette As the Help Desk Director for the National Association of Photoshop Professionals, I can give you a good estimate of the number of folks who lost hours of productivity due to Photoshop 6's Faux Bold feature: Lots! (I don't want to get too precise with my estimate....) This type "style," buried in the Character palette menu, prevented the application of text warping. It sometimes was applied automatically or by accident, and it was very difficult to find for many. Faux Bold, as well as Faux Italic and six other type attributes, can be applied by using buttons in the Character palette, and the button itself indicates whether the attribute is applied.
If you have not set your preferences yet, open the dialog box Preferences [Ctrl+K] and make your choices. In the movie I choose my personal preferences, while you should have your own. However, I strongly recommend two things:
Photoshop 7 includes a neat feature that enables you to select a new document size from a pop-up menu in the New dialog box. Here's how to have your custom document sizes and specifications available, right in the pop-up menu.
To apply quick vector to an image, simply open the image in Photoshop. Now go to Filter>Artistic>Cutout. A dialogue box will appear. Play around with levels, edge simplicity, and edge fidelity settings for your desired vector image. It's very easy and yet quick.
Before we move on to the next subject, I want to talk a littl bit more about slices and the slice tool in Photoshop. 6. While the Type Tool is active, most Photoshop commands are not available. So once finished, press [Ctrl+Enter] keys or click on any other tool in the Toolbox to apply your typing.
Easy viewing is very important component of correct editing, especially while dealing with larger images. To view the whole picture we have to zoom out, to view minor details we are to zoom in; to see a picture as it really is, we have to use actual size.
This technique is also useful for sketches. Often I like to use pen and paper to come up with ideas. Sometimes I want to get that sketch into Photoshop or Illustrator.

Finding and Downloading Brushes
