Now we need to another side to the folder. Make a new layer again. Grab the lasso tool and draw the second side of the folder just like this.

Let's use some of the techniques we've learned previously to add some paper into the icon! Grab your Rectangle Tool and draw a rectangle (You did this with the Rounded Rectangle Tool in Step 1, remember?) Make sure the rectangle is between layers "Front" and "Back". Use the Skew technique we learned about in Step 2. Lastly add a Drop Shadow (Step 4).

8. That looks quite nice, but the thing wich makes it look like a really cool icon, is to set the opacity of the 3D folder part to about 50-60%.

Now with the "shine" layer still selected hold "ctrl" and click your folder layer. Now goto "select > inverse" and hit the delete key, you should be left with this.

Now set the left panels opacity to 75% to allow the images beneath it to be seen thgough. Now just add your icons here's a quick few I've made.

In this solution, you’ll learn how to create a nice file folder tab, shaped much like those real folder tabs used in filing cabinets. Remember those old-fashioned things? 1 Using the Pen Tool (P), click once to add an anchor point to your Photoshop document (step 1 in the image at right.) 2 Position the cursor over the anchor point. Hold down Shift and Alt (Shift and Option on a Mac), click on the point, and drag the mouse towards the right to create a single horizontal handlebar (step 2 at right). 3 Position the cursor as shown in step 3 at right. Click and drag the mouse towards the right to add another anchor point. The line connecting the two points should display a nice curve, thanks to the positions of our control handles. 4 Holding down Shift, click and drag the mouse to the right of the last point we made in order to create another anchor point with horizontal control handles. Press Shift to ensure that the two points are aligned horizontally (step 4 at right). 5 Move the cursor a bit lower and to the right so that it’s aligned horizontally with our first anchor point (step 5). Click to add another anchor point and drag the handlebars out to the right. 6 Bring the cursor back over the last point we made. Hold down Alt (Option) and click to remove the right handlebar (step 6). 7 Bring the cursor back to our very first point and click on it to complete the shape (see step 7 at right and the graphic below it). Don’t worry if your alignment’s not perfect—you can use the Direct Selection Tool (A) to select individual points, and the arrow keys to fine-tune it.

The paper we will create will have two folds marks (creases). To simulate these creases, we are going to create a special gradient with the gradient tool. Go to EDIT > PRESETS MANAGER. From the pulldown menu select GRADIENTS. At this point, you can choose to click the LOAD button and load the already created gradient, or just click on any gradient swatch and create the gradient yourself. The image below shows how to create this gradient. Even if you decide to load the gradient, take a look at the instructions to create the gradient to understand the theory behind this effect. This will let you create different gradients for different fold effects.

Ctrl click on the 'grass' layer so that the area gets selected. Now create another layer and call it 'folds'. Dress folds: Select the gradient tool.(linear gradient) Use default colors (black foreground, white background) Mode:difference Opacity :100% Check dither and transparency Drag it as shown to get the folds

Part two: Applying the Blending Options to the rectangle. Create a new Layer, change the foreground color to #e8c813, this will be the color of the folder top cover. Click on the Custom Shape Tool and select the first shape. Using the settings below,

Ok, let us get started. Create a new image using the dimension 800 x 600. Set the background color to white. You can change the background depending on you web site color. Create a new layer, Layer New Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N). Name the layer "Cover". Using the Rounded Rectangle Tool create a rectangle using the dimensions below. Change the foreground color to #4382d0

Your Vista Style Folded Tip Icon is now complete. Like Windows Vista, you can add any symbol or logo to the file icon you just designed to identify it. In the sample below, I have used Oman3D's logo and added a small Overlayed white fill on the edge of the logo to act as gloss.

Let's look at how this tutorial differs from other icon tuts across the net. First of all, a process like this can be applied to other objects (of course bigger object). Also, with icons the object can be viewed in its full size. Above all, any tiny inaccuracy can be easily corrected, or is small enough that it can't be seen at all. So it's possible to keep the length of the article standard without skipping any steps needed to create this Jaguar style.

Now that we have the typo we are going to start working on folding the letters one by one, so starting with the A we are going to select a box around the letter “A? using the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M), once we have it selected, hold Ctrl + C to copy the letter and then press Ctrl + V to paste it, name the layer you pasted “A?(change the color that you want on the abduzeedo text before you copy and paste it .
