In this tutorial I will show you with an example of horse how to turn an ordinary animal to a robot.

We need the head to look like a 3D spere, not a circle, so while the circular area is slected by the marquee tool, go to FILTER > DISTORT > SPHERIZE This will create a sphere inside the texture layer. Now copy and paste to make a new layer and name it how you need to. I used Head #1

Under Layer Style(Layer > Layer Style) add an Inner Shadow, Satin, Gradient Overlay and Stroke blending options to your gray ellipse layer.

If designing just for the web, then a 72dpi workspace is fine.

In this photoshop tutorial I will take a regular picture of a bug and add mechanical parts to it to make it look like a robot bug.
