Open a photo into Photoshop. This Photoshop tutorial works best with architectural images that have strong edges. To open an image, go to File> Open and select the file that you want to open.

But it's fairly simple to do, especially once you understand what's happening to create the effect. So I've created a version that will work with Photoshop. Have a look at the example image shown here. That should explain pretty-much everything needed; but I'll run through the actual steps here for you too.

In this tutorial, we'll create a a quick mock-up of a 3D car blueprint. Then we'll place it on an image of a drafting table. This time we'll use a particular Photoshop 3D Render Mode to create this awesome effect. Let's get it started!

To begin, create a new document in Photoshop (mine is 590�350px since the image I'm tracing is small). Then, open your image and place it on a new layer in the new document. Center the image using guides.

Some lines can still have another color then white (mine is fine but yours might not) so go to (image - adjustments - desaturate) to remove them (be sure to sleect the duplicated layer and not the one we used to make everything blue).
