This tutorial is a simple Photoshop tutorial for adding stylish rectangles in a sig or other artwork to give a touch up to it. it's very simple and in my opinion it has a great effect sometimes! you should try it, I show you how! Good luck! Well ... We start with a background that you're going to use for you sig or other piece. I started a new file (350*100) a great sig resolution in my opinion. Start making your background, with brushes, filters or whatever. I came up with this:
The weapon of all weapons!!! Personally, I'm not a fan of weapons, but you can't hate this lasersword. "The weapon of a Jedi-Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster!" Learn in a few simple steps how to make your own saber!
This is really just one of those random effects I made up when I was photoshop-freestyling... It's really pretty useless, but I found out it's great for signature-backgrounds or headers!
Note:I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST TO USE THIS TOOL, BECAUSE IT GIVES A MUCH BETTER RESULT. I USE THE PEN-TOOL A LOT, BUT IN THIS CELLSHADING-CASE, IT'S BETTER TO GET POLYGONAL SHAPES THEN TO GET CURVED SHAPES!
This article is rammed full of the 15 BEST text effects around at the minute, it has taken me a while to filter out the best text effects from the not so great ones, even though there are alot of fantastic ones out there they can't quite compete with the quality of these ones, and yes the majority are from sites such as PSDTuts and Tutorial9 as these do produce tutorials of the highest quality so here we go
Looking for text effects? Welcome to the Photoshop Text Effects section of Photoshop Essentials.com! Here, you'll find our complete list of text effects tutorials for Adobe Photoshop, all written with beginner Photoshop users in mind, with an easy to follow, step by step approach. Photoshop has long been the industry standard for creating amazing photo effects and special effects, but it's also great at helping you design text effects ranging from the simple to the outrageous! The great thing about text effects is that they can be lots of fun to create, even if it's simply for your own enjoyment. Of course, text effects are widely used in professional advertising and marketing, but regardless of why you're creating them, Photoshop makes it easy to turn your imagination into reality! Many text effects created in Photoshop are now considered classics, like text reflections, placing images inside text, 3D text effects, metallic type, chrome type, wood type, neon lettering, and more! Each new version of Photoshop adds new features that open up even more possibilities to explore with text. One of the easiest and most popular ways to create fun text effects is by using Photoshop's Layer Styles, allowing you to add color and gradients, shadows, glows, patterns, and more while keeping your text fully editable! Of course, you can also convert your type into pixels, which gives you full access to all of Photoshop's amazing features, including all of Photoshop's filters! If you can think of it, you can create it in Photoshop, and what better way to learn Photoshop than by having fun with text effects!
In this Photoshop text effects tutorial, we're going to create some knock out text. By that, I mean we're going to look at how to use one of Photoshop's more interesting shape options to knock out sections of letters that overlap each other! Of course, you can't use shape options unless you're working with shapes, so along the way, we'll see how to convert text to a shape, which opens up a lot more possibilities for us when it comes to creating cool text effects. Here's an example of the result we're going for:
In this Photoshop Text Effects tutorial, we're going to learn how to use text as a container for more text! Specifically, we'll fill a single letter with an entire paragraph of text so that the text appears in the shape of the letter. Here's the effect we're going for:
For this step you will need to have a floral brush set, lots of these can be found here, download one and install it, note that you may need to restart Photoshop after installing it. Create a new group behind the text and in a new layer; use the purple swatch and go wild with these brushes, making them flow from the letters and the lines. My set included some leaves which I dotted around using the green swatch. Using the floral brushes was just an idea, other vector style brushes can give good results too, one which is worth trying is using tree brushes on the top half of the letters.
Photoshop actions are commonly overlooked when creating designs and artwork, often left only for batch editing photographs. However this is about to change, with a bit of imagination you can create very impressive abstract pieces, detailed images which beg for a closer look. Read on to discover how to transform one small image into a large, colorful piece of abstract art. Keep reading
This tutorial will teach you how to create a very appealing and slightly abstract text effect that looks like the text is made from plants and flowers; you really have to see it to know what I mean. We'll be using a lot of floral brushes which look great and also learning a really useful technique for accurately hiding stuff behind other stuff. Keep reading
First of all, duplicate the text, right-click the layer, and remove the layer styles. Then change the color of the text to a fluorescent blue (#5cdbff). Then press the up arrow once to move it one pixel up. This will give a sort of glow effect as shown below.
In this tutorial I will show you some very easy techniques, using gradients and layer styles, that we can use to produce nice subtle 3D effects in our web designs.
One of the coolest digital artists around is Chuck Anderson, a.k.a. NoPattern. After seeing a recent PSDTUTS reader request, I decided to show you how to create a light effect similar to NoPattern's Jumper Poster. At the end, I'll show you how a technique like this can be used in a variety of different ways to make stunning images...

Another nice effect to add in this step is: Create a layer on top of the others and fill it with black. Change the layer's Blend Mode to Color Dodge and select the Brush Tool (B). With a very soft brush and white for the color paint some light effects in the disintegration areas of the image, betwen the particles and the guy's body (1-4).

I call this the Sugar Bag Effect because I got the idea from an old bag of sugar. Original I know. It's a great beginner text effect though and unlike many of the tutorials in this category that are either over the top or simply meant to teach you to use your tools, the Sugar Bag Effect has real world possibilities.
In the following steps, I'll let you in on one of the most effective and easily mastered techniques that I use to make striking, dynamic distortions of subjects in this case I've used a model, although the technique can be adapted to any objects that you wish to feature in your work, such as cars or trees.
In this tutorial I will show you some very easy techniques, using gradients and layer styles, that we can use to produce nice subtle 3D effects in our web designs - Fabio
Make no mistake, environmental conditions will have an adverse effect on the longevity of any artwork posted outdoors. But that which is detrimental to quality also produces a new form of beauty. That beauty can be found in the distressed effects that are the direct result of weather, or normal wear and tear caused by activity in the immediate surroundings. Many digital artists recognise the beauty within these tactile imperfections, but more often than not, the reproduction of these effects is less than impressive.
Now let's create the RGB pattern. Create a New File [Ctrl + N]. Set the Width to 6 pixels, Height to 1 pixel. Zoom in really close to about 800%. [Ctrl + =]. Select the Pencil tool. Click on your Color Picker boxes. To get a perfect red, set the Hex value to [FF0000].
Now write out your text with a nice, cartoonish kind of font. The font I used is called Vogue Cyr, if you don't have that font just look through your fonts and find a good one that will suit the theme. Note: You can write your text out in any color you want, it will be overwritten with the layer styles Right-click the text layer in the layer's palette, go into the Blending Options and apply the following styles and settings:
One of my favorite things to do is stay up all night and watch music videos on VH1, although they repeat way too much. But the point is that you can gain a ton of inspiration just by watching them. So when I saw the Violet Hill video I loved the somewhat dark and gritty feel of it. And now the tut is born.
Start by creating your text and ctrl+click this layer to select all visible pixel, than on a new layer expand the selection by about 10-20 percents and fill it in with grey.

I love today's tutorial! The reason being that it's all about experimentation. It's called the Bleach Bypass Effect which is extremely popular in movies. It's been used in the films Saving Private Ryan, Minority Report, and others. Bleach Bypass is actually an effect you can achieve on film when you skip bleaching while processing color film, leaving the silver retained on the negative. In the end, what you get is an image with high contrast, graininess, and reduced saturation. If you would like the grainy feel in your image, visit my Realistic Film Grain tutorial!
Ever wanted that beautiful Holga effect but didn???t own a Holga camera? Well now you can! In this tutorial I will show you how to achieve this effect using blending modes, gradients, layer adjustments, etc. Happy Photoshopping!
@Lia: Thanks, Lia! I think I know what you're talking about. If what you're talking about is what I think it is, then you can achieve effects like that with the liquify tool. Hope that helps!
Creating 'Scanlines' from scratch; not using a filter. The following method of creating the scanline effect allows us more control over the thickness of the lines. Which in turn can produce more variations of the look when applied to our images. I don't think any sample images are needed to explain this method. It really is very easy to visualize and understand.
First of all, make a new document in Photoshop. I created a new document sized 500300 pixels with all the default settings, RGB, 72 dpi and fill it with color of #424947.
Often times as Photoshop users, both beginner and advanced, we get so used to using a tool in a certain way that we often overlook it's possibilities. I had a recent request for a tutorial on creating a digital "matte" effect so I decided to tackle the idea using a set of layer styles which could be saved and reused easily.
Lets start by opening the image in Photoshop. Velvia is a high saturation film best suited for landscape photography. Because of the high level of saturation produced by this effect, I don't recommend using portraits or photos with people, unless of course you like that tan-from-a-bottle orange-skin look. This is a photo I took of the Tetons in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was shot with an old Nikon D100 which was known for weak color, which makes it a perfect shot for this effect.
Wow, can't believe I never thought of that. Very simple way to produce the effect and easy to control how much rotation you want. Thanks for the free tutorial! :)
If you are a fond of Mafia movie, you should certainly see this extraordinary tutorial, which is a great source of inspiration as well as a great pleasure for your eyes. This Photoshop tutorial is the way for you to understand how to make the character you draw transmit what it has to transmit. SOSFactory creators will help you with it. Drawing the sketches of Mafia characters, cleaning the sketches, making the scene composition - you will learn all these things in this great heap of useful and interesting information!

Hit CTRL+T (Command+T on Mac) to enter free transform mode and choose "Perspective". From the upper right corner, drag it a little to make that portion bigger. Your handle should look like this: Position the handle layer under the loupe layer.
I have been always enchanted by the process of creating intricate and fancy design with the help of spirograph. In childhood this inelaborate device seemed to do miracles on the paper. Why not try to repeat the effect now? We're going to do that with the help of photoshop of course ;)
I'm in the mood for something 'groovy' to lift the tension. Layer Styles can take you a long way these days, but for combining effects (adding metal to glass, for instance) you need to work with more than a single layer. You will also want to work with some filter options for added texture. All the steps I'm taking here are actionable, I'm including the action with this column for you to enjoy. Let's get started!
If you've ever seen the movie "Pleasantville", you will undoubtably have noticed that parts of the screen are in black and white, and parts of the screen are in color. This was a very cool effect, and in this tutorial I will show you how to make it in just three steps. Unlike other tutorials, this method is non-destructive, which means you can just delete the layer and the edits will be restored. Also, if you erase too much you can "un-erase" since we will be using layer masks as opposed to the Eraser tool.
In this tutorial, I'll be covering the basics of Effects such as: applying Effects to an object; editing existing Effects; adding Effects; controlling multiple Effects; and saving Effects for future use. I will be taking a more in-depth look at some individual Effects in the upcoming tutorials, so stay tuned.
Apply Ocean Ripple filter with similar settings as we applied in previous tutorials. Apply this for 9 times. (First apply the filter and than press control+f to reapply the filter.)
Keep in mind that this technique is best used with images containing lots of detail. It is less effective with photos that contain large areas of reasonably even color, such as portraits.
Adobe Photoshop Brushes can be used for abstract digital artwork as well as the common grunge and tech brushes you can find all over the internet. This abstract brushing tutorial will teach you how to brush your abstract renders!
7. Now, with WHITE as your foreground colour, do some brush strokes around the 'circle' part of your abstract, but make sure it goes nothing to the right, only the left. Now, duplicate the layer, and guassian blur the bottom of the two to about 1px.
6. Now to put this on your abstract piece, you just drag the layer to the abstract piece and set the layer to screen. Do some erasing at the edges of the layer and ... tada!
Select a color for your mist. Now goto your document and tap your mouse to make small round circles. Do not move the mouse while tapping. Try not to overlap circles. The more you tap at one spot the darker the color gets.
1. Create a new 340x340 pixel document with a resolution of 100 and name it Techno-Blur. Now press D and apply a clouds filter. Next apply a Difference Clouds filter anywhere from 2 to 5 times (or more if you please).
3) Make horizontal gradients. Follow the steps below and repeat: Keep repeating untill you get a row of gradients like: 4) Apply Color (CNTRL+U): 5) Make a new layer. We want to make lots of gradient lines using the same settings (Difference). Get your new layer looking like: 6) Change the blending to Hard Light: Apply these hue settings: 7) Duplicate the layer and go to Filter>Sketch>Chrome and use these settings: 8) Change the blending to Overlay: There ya go, heres my solar electricity. I also made a larger format to use as my wallpaper. Very attractive electricity effect.
Now that you have 6 layers, you'll want to fix it up. Select the original layer. Go to Filter -> Distort -> Wave. Use all defaults, click OK. Do this to... Layer 1, Layer 1 Copy 1, Layer 1 Copy 2, and Layer 1 Copy 3. Make sure to click randomize every time you do a wave (ha ha). You should now have something that at least resembles this:
Choose the Texture box under Bevel and Emboss as well. Select a pattern from one of the Photoshop presets. Adjust the scale and depth and watch how it effects the Go Media Crest. Again, experiment with these settings to get something that is really starting to look like gold reflections.
This section I will show you how to add some sparkle, star, and motion brushing to your background with the abstract. This section is completely optional.
This is what is was for. Once you are done with step #3, you will see a dotted aligh around the render in ps.it selects the render from c4d, and now you will be able to only have the render, and take out rest of the unwanted space.
Start with a very, very large screen: 3000 px x 2000 px wide. Draw a rectangle as background for the whole area and fill it with a dark linear gradient layer style. Align that gradient with 45 degrees vertically (sometimes you may change that angle to 90 or 60 degrees). Since the beginning, pay special attention to colors: black and dark violet as base color. The waves colors will match a triad complementary balance with the base color, in our case, the violet-cyan-orange axis.
I will be using photoshop, We will make a single domino, but you can fill a background layer. Then select the magic wand tool and click on the text layer( the "T" symbol), Inverse the selection and Press Delete.
This procedure now is very funny to do, go to filter > blue > Gaussian blur. Play around with the settings to get what you want from the image. I used 1,1 radius on the Gaussian blur. You can use motion blur, radial, and get some nice effects too.
Create another new image using File/New and make this one 800 x 800. Drag four of your sphere clusters into the new image. Using Edit/Transform /Rotate you can create the four sided shape I made. Feel free to mess around with this and find some pattern or shape you like.
Select the bottom most type layer. Go to Edit>Transform>Scale, and increase the size to taste. I want to make a distinctive metal border, so I'm expanding the layer so the effects on the border can be clearly seen. Though the fonts fill not directly match as they would using the expand selection option, this is still a fun way to render things.
This tutorial will show you how to do a fighter effect using Adobe Photoshop tools and effects, with only Photoshop without any other photo or something else. Create a new document in Photoshop with a black background and draw a rectangle in a new layer. Right click on the new layer and choose Rasterize Layer. Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) (find it in the Tools Tab) to delete an area like here:
As you will probably know, the Futuristic effect can be various. If you think globally, then you can say that generally the Futuristic effect can have an endless multitude of renditions and anything we do will be seen as correct. So in this lesson we are going to make little more than a personal impression of the Futuristic effect. Let ' s hop to it . Create a new window and using a filter Filter>Render>Clouds make something similar to picture below.
Ctrl + click your text-layer and go to channels-palette. Create a new channel and fill it with #FFFFFF. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and set it to 3 px. Go back to layers-palette and activate the background-layer. Go to Filter > Render > Lightning Effects and use these settings:
This tutorial gives off a really relaxed feel. The Goopy tutorial is aimed at beginners, but sometimes the simplest are the best. Phase One: Set your foreground colour to: 000000 And your background to: 169BCC
So, I tried to make this tutorial as detailed as possible, but wanted to keep it simple at the same time. Not quite sure if I succeeded but that's where you come in. Leave some feedback as I aim to make perfect tutorials - eventually :)
And now we have to create a water surface. Create a new 300X300 pixel document ("Water document") with the black background and the white foreground. Apply Filter > Render > Difference Clouds. Apply Filter > Render > Lighting Effects and use the following settings:
19. Now that looks pretty good! You aren't done yet though. We still need to add a background, and add some brushing overlays! Part four of this tutorial will show you how to make your render look even better using the overlay blending option, and adding a simple, but effective background! Please continue to Part 4 of the Making of Annexia!
6. Time to add the finishing touches. Your render needs a name, so name it! I named mine Annexia, as you can see in the following image. Naming your abstract should be creative, try to make your name special, and add some cool effects to it!
So lets start off with opening a new document it can be literally any size, but for this tutorial I'm making an avatar so I'll be working with: 185 x 185
2. Next get the dodge tool and with a small brush size make a white circle in the middle. Then after that get the smudge tool and make some little flares coming off the sides by dragging some of the whiteness out-word.
To close, I thought I would go through the tutorials I covered here over the past 2 weeks, but use Elements instead of Photoshop. Here are the results:
2. Now head over to the layers palette and right click on your text layer, choose Duplicate Layer. Then right click on the duplicated layer, and this time choose Rasterize Layer. Then go to Filter>Pixelate>Mosaic, set the Cell Size to 15.
Re-applying Polar Coordinates with Rectangular to Polar will additional times on this image changes the highlights and shadows without producing a noticeable effect on the shapes. Rotating the canvas 180 degrees and re-applying Polar Coordinates with the Rectangular to Polar options produces a variety of interesting shapes.
We are nearly done. You know that Quanfey is a radiating energy and it is emitted from our chakras(wheels). So we are going to give it some glowing effect. Go to: Filter-> Stylize-> Wind. First time from right and second time from the other directon or vice-versa.
We also want to "add" some holes to the fence. Select the Eraser Tool and with a hard round brush 19 pixels start erasing some of the pattern in the middle and on the edges of the fence. Go over the holes with a larger soft brush to soften the edges a little bit.
By now it should look pretty sharp. We could add a few things, though. Apply more layer masks. Add a layer mask to both layers and using a black brush with the layer mask paint away anything that flows behind the screen shot. It's best to use a larger brush with fairly hard edge to do this. You can continue to add more paths and sparkles as you wish and with just a little more work you can end up with this:
Admittedly, it is pretty simple and 2D-looking, but like I said, I'm pretty new to Photoshop, and I just made this up in Web Design Class while the teacher was talking.
Pick two wood'ish colours (I selected a tan and a medium-brown). Do a quick Filter >> Render >> Clouds. Keep hitting Ctrl-F to repeat the filter until you find a nice pattern that suits you. You should go for an fairly even spread of colour, without big blobs of one or the other.
Download this zip file, and unzip it into C:Program FilesAdobePhotoshop 7.0 Plug-InsFilters. Now open Photoshop, and create a new image, any size, and select a background. Now go to filter>>dragonfy>>sinedots, and use the settings below, or create your own.
Open the image you want to add this square background on or use the image we provided below. The image is really big so you can see the full effect of this square background.
1. Create a new document. I will be using a document size of 800x600 which is one of the sizes of wallpapers, for this tutorial. Fill it with #000000, to a dull #27798B gradient:
Step 9: Flatten the document. Grab the clone stamp tool, get a crisp brush, set the mode to screen and start cloning until you've got the basic shape of your starscape:
Start with a new document. I chose 400x400 RGB with a black background. Fire up the totally under-utilised Filter >> Render >> Lighting Effects filter, and use the following settings
Throughout the whole process of making this techno blur, there are many cool effects, and one of my favourite is step # 3. You could stop the tutorial at the end of step # 3 and use that as circuits inside of a computer. There are many outcomes to this tutorial. You can use it in Sigs, computer images (circuits), in headers, banners, 88x31 links to advertise your website and there are many other possibilities. There are many possibilities for this tutorial. I hope you enjoyed it.
After playing around with the image for a bit I was able to create this piece. Really the only difference is a slight Opacity to the "explosion" layer, and a tint of blue added to the outside of the explosion to add a more dramatic contrast.
To make thing even cooler, you can add an "inner shadow" layer effect. Add a layer effect by right-clicking on the layer and choosing "Blending Options...". Use these settings:
The Displace filter is great for any situation when you want to transfer the surface contours of one photo onto another image element. The secret to a good result lies in creating a custom displacement map that will suit your purposes. When used correctly, objects can be made to "bend" precisely around existing curves and bumps in an image. In this tutorial, we'll go over how to create custom displacement maps and use them for styling type. In one example we'll project words onto a theater curtain and in the other, we'll show how to use the Displace filter to customize a watery reflection. Along the way, we'll also dabble with some adjustment layers, layer masks, perspective transformations, and the Lighting Effects filter.
Step 7: Here a few examples of some brushes that I created and the wireframes that they produced. Experiment with the settings in the brushes palette to get different effects. You will quickly see that there are not too many options if you still want to keep the wireframe look, since many of the settings will really warp your brush. You do however have a lot of control with the wireframe look you are going for with the angle and spacing settings so try to concentrate there.
Here I've put the filtered layer on Linear Dodge to bring up the lighter aspects (with mixes with the layer below), I've duplicated the layer again (I do this a lot) and try out another blending mode. This helps balance the effect out to where I want it...usually I'll just shuttle through the blending modes but Hard Light works in most instances for me.
you might get a sharper pixelation that resembles old 8-bit video games by scaling down your image, zooming in and taking a big screencap. the mosaic effect gives those fuzzy edges that i hate. alternatively you could just go the pixel art route and do it square by square.
The split toning effect can be done much faster with the latest version of ACR (Adobe Camera RAW), Adobe Lightroom, and possibly Apple Aperture - please confirm this with me in the comments if you know. This Photoshop tutorial is meant as a solution in case you do not have any of those options. For example, editing a JPEG file with Photoshop.
Architectural cameras and lenses often have a Swing or Tilt feature which tilts the focal plane and thus provides a weird depth-of-focus effect. Sometimes, primarily with landscapes or cityscapes photographed from above, you get the impression as if you were looking at a mock-up. Now we try to emulate this effect using Photoshop.
[19]-Thanks for reading, I hope this photoshop tutorial has taught you few photoshop tricks and techniques and you can use them in your website design project. Your final image will look like this
In this tutorial, we're going to create a nice abstract fractured text effect. This effect works best on bold fonts at large sizes, as illustrated below, but could be applied to a variety of texts and shapes to create some interesting looks. I'm going to make my text blue, but you can use any color you like. Start by creating a new document with a black background and enter your text in white.
In this tutorial you will learn how to create the text effect shown in the picture above. This tutorial is extremely easy, only 3 layers are used (including the background layer) . Fast and easy steps, nice and smooth outcome, that's the way I like it! We will walk through 2 simple steps. 1) Making the text layer; 2) Making the reflection layer ; Lets get started!

These days I have a Canon G9 in my bag. It has features similar to that of a Lomo (depth focus etc) and this makes it an ideal Lomo LCA fraudster. I have therefore created a LOMO LCA effect in photoshop to make the G9 output look like raw shots. I may improve upon the file when I get time, however I'm fairly happy with the results and find it hard to tell the difference in comparison to my original lCA shots.
Photoshop is a fantastically well featured program which can take years to master. This does not mean, however, that superb photographic effects are beyond the grasp of novice users. This tutorial describes a very simple technique for creating images with oil-painted effects using nothing more than a photograph and the basic Photoshop tools. The end result is as impressive as it is simple!

Professional photographer jargon calls strong, unnatural over-exposure "High key". This is what we try to emulate in this article by preparing a B&W; high key version of a color image. The procedure is further spiced by leaving the eyes colored, so that the gaze and the color catch the viewers' eyes.
In the following article, we'll be leveraging the features of the filter gallery introduced in Photoshop CS. The gallery allows you to easily apply multiple filter effects to the same layer, e.g. changing it into a lifelike drawing or painting. Users of earlier Photoshop versions can also try the procedure, but they will have to apply the filters to separate layer copies and merge them with a blending mode of their choice. So, Filter Gallery did not only speed up organizing creative filters, but also enhanced and made easier layer management.

Open the image in which you would like to apply this effect. Now you decide on how many bits you want to create. I close to make 9 bits of my selected image. To make this process easier we can change the image size or crop the image as per our need. I selected to crop the image to 3 X 3? size (Height=3inchs, Width=3inches) Creating Bits: I created 9 bits of the same size, to make the bits we use the guides function to create exact size bits. Click on the top ruler and drag it into the image to create line. If you’re not able to view the ruler, go to view > rulers, shortcut for ruler is [ctrl+r]
Title: Free adobe photoshop software training learn how to make blasted or hammered text effect Description: In this photoshop tutorial I have used techniques on how to use photoshop tools to draw hammered or blasted or scratched text effect for digital scrap booking project alpabhets or website layout templates.
Today we are going to give some cool Effects to a Text. In this tutorial I have used photo shop Tools Like, Horizontal Type Tool, Paint Bucket Tool, and some really cool Effects like Filter > Stylize > Wind effect . Let's get started.
1. Create a new image however big you'd like. If you'd like to make a wallpaper than make it 1024x768 or 800x600. I chose 800x600 for tutorial purposes. Make the background Transparent and the Resolution 72. 2. Rename "Layer 1" to "background" (it just makes things easier). Now press CTRL + D to reset your color palette. Now click on your foreground color and type in the following... "H: 210, S: 100" and put the "B:" anywhere from 100-85. 100 is lighter and 85 is darker. I chose 85. Press "OK". Now select your background color. Type in the following... "H: 210, S: 85-60, B: 100". For "S:" 85 is darker, 60 is lighter. 3. With your two blue foreground and background colors selected, grab the gradient tool and click at the very top of your image (on layer "background"), hold SHIFT, and drag down to the very bottom of your image. This should make a gradient that looks something like this (but a lot bigger of course): 4. Create a new layer. Call this layer "clouds". Put it above the layer "background". Press CTRL + D to reset the color palette. Now go to Filter > Render > Clouds. Now go to Filter > Render > Difference Clouds. Press CTRL + F until you see something like this (I pressed it about 8 times): 5. Now Press CTRL + L to change the Levels. Use settings that look something like this: 6. Duplicate layer "clouds". Call this layer "extrude". Go to Filter > Stylize > Extrude with these settings: "Type: Blocks, Size: 2 Pixels, Depth: 30; Level-based, Solid Front Faces: checked, Mask Incomplete Blocks: unchecked". 7. On the layer "extrude", go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur with the Settings: "1.8-3.0". I chose "2.0". 7. Change the blending modes of both layers "clouds" and "extrude" to "Hard Light". Select the layer "extrude" and press SHIFT + CTRL + E to merge the layers together. You should be left with one layer, "extrude". Rename it to "implosion". 8. Create a new layer. Call this one "background". Press CTRL + D to reset the colors. go to Filter > Render > Clouds. Now go to Filter > Render > Difference Clouds. Now select your gradient tool with these settings: (click image to enlarge) 9. Now make a bunch of different gradients. It doesn't matter the specific way or how many you make, just go crazy and make something that looks like this: 10. Duplicate this layer, and go Filter > Distort > Wave (on layer "background"). Use the default settings and press the "Randomize" button until you get something you like. Now set the blending options on this layer to...
Duplicate the String Layer, which should now be String Layer copy and move the layer under the text layer. Therefore, the Text Should be sandwich in between the two string layers. Click over to the main string layer and click on the Eraser Tool using the setting below.

Ok, you have your image opened in Photoshop and ready to go. I'm going to give you the keyboard shortcuts for each action. Using keyboard shortcuts significantly speeds up your work, so the sooner you learn them the better. By using them you also help to relieve stress in your wrist from repetitive mouse movements. Press 'T' on the keyboard to activate the Type tool. Enter your type and if you want to change the font, double click the text to highlight it then choose a font from the drop down menu at the top of your canvas. You could also change the size and color of the text now if you wish, but there is no real need as I will be showing you another way of doing it later on. When you have something similar to this, continue to step 2.
In this tutorial we're gonna create a website template using photoshop. I'm not gonna cover how to write the html for the design, I will only go on and create the design of the template using photoshop.

Now we shall try and improvise the " X-files" effect using a standard set of filters, turned on and available in Adobe Photoshop. So, let's begin. Let's create a new window with a black background. And let's write the following text.
Web site's logo and name are the most prominent and important elements in creating web site design. In this tutorial I'll show you how to create the logo for Web Design Library.
1. Create a new 165x165 pixel document with a resolution of 100 and name it Mini-Techno. Now press D then X and fill the document (with White). Now apply a noise filter with settings [Amount: 300%, Distribution: Gaussion, Monochromatic: Checked].
S1: With your text tool, I use font size 72, and colour 5DBC5A (Colour doesn't matter), write your text. S2: Filter>Stylize>Wind, with "wind" selcted and "from the right". S3: Filter>Artisic>Plastic wrap Just add a defulat one. It should be looking like this: S4: Add a defualt crome. Filter>Sketch>Crome Phase Two: Add this Stroke:
- Then go to Edit->Fill in the Fill box, Use: select Pattern, and in the Custom Pattern options, select the pattern you just created in the previous step. Leave the blending options alone.
Fun With Effects I'm in the mood for something 'groovy' to lift the tension. 1) Make a new image. Background doesn't matter, but you may want to go with white or transparent. Mine is a transparent image, 100 DPI, RGB. 2) Create a new layer. 3) Choose the Type Mask Tool, and enter your text in the new layer with a font size of at least 120. For this example I'm using 'PizzaDude Pointers', found at http://www.pizzadude.dk/home.html . If you've never visited this site I strongly recommend it, especially if you are into original fonts. 4) Fill the selection with a color; white should work just fine. 5) Create a new layer. 6) Choose Gray as your foreground color. Go to Edit>Stroke. Apply a centered 6 pixel stroke. Here's the example thus far: 7) Since we are already on the stroked layer, let's work with that guy first. Command/CTRL+Click the stoke layer in the layers palette to make our stroke an active selection. Let's duplicate this layer just in case. 8) Hit 'D' to reset your colors. We don't really want a stark black foreground, so let's change that to an extremely dark blue/black. We just need a hint of color, so don't get too bright! 9) Select the gradient tool. We want to go Foreground to Background, Refelected Gradient Style, fill mode set to Difference. 10) Start filling the selection several times from different angles. 11) Let's add a bit of noise to the selection: 12) Now just a little bevel to give us some dimension and reflection: Let's move down to the filled layer and work on the gloss. What gloss? You'll soon see! 13) With the filled layer selected (as opposed to the stroke layers), open the Layer Style dialog box. Choose 'Blending Options' from the top of the left hand menu. We will change a couple settings here: 14) For the next few steps, we will just walk through Layer Style Settings: First some Color: A Bevel: Inner Shadow: Inner Glow: And finally, a Gradient Overlay: That seems like a lot of steps, which is why you should save this as a Layer Style if you would like to apply it again in the future. After all that, here is the result: I threw a bit of background in to show that the glass is, indeed, somewhat transparent. Let's run the action I created on some other text, just to make sure everything works: Looks like everything is in order! Thanks for taking a few minutes out of your week to spend with me, and please come see me at Action Fx. Take Care!
Create a new document 800800 with a black background, select the color #01afee and create a rectangle. Once you have your rectangle press CTRL + T, now rotate your rectangle like this.
This simple effect in Photoshop effectively increases the luminosity range of an ordinary photograph, giving a wide spectrum of tones and contrast. The effect was originally discovered whilst I was trying to replicate the style of HDR photography in Adobe Photoshop. Whilst the outcome doesn't quite compare to HDR, the resulting effect is still pretty cool!
2. set foreground color to #A7A7A7, bg color #F1F1F1. CTRL+click on the text layer to load the selection of the text, create a new layer, use gradient tool to do something like this.
Let's start off with our person photo. I found this one at www.photospin.com. We're going to want to start by masking the image. Masking is when you basically hide a portion of the image, leaving what you want to see, visible. It's a lot easier than deleting the unwanted area. Start by making your selection around the object.
In the above image I did a fair bit of brushing on different layers, messing with the colors and layer modes, I also applied Filter > Noise > Add Noise to some of the brushing layers, for an interesting effect.
Let's start by creating a new document (size doesn't really matter). Select the Text tool and choose a font and a color (I chose orange) for your text. Now type your text but between each letter enter a space. For example for this tutorial I typed C space O space O space L space space T space E space X space T
A Hue/Saturation window should appear. With this tool, we'll specify where the sepia effect will appear. Decide if you want to select the sepia toned areas according to the color of the image or by manually painting the areas where you would like the sepia tone.
After rotating and resizing your duplicate text slightly, create a new layer and merge the two together (duplicate layer and blank layer), after doing this, apply a slight Gaussian Blur filter (1.5).
Use the type tool to type some text onto it using the white colour. Name this layer as ?text?, right-click on the layer and go to Blending Options, use the follow settings:
- Select the Second Clean Text Effect Layer and Right Click on it and select Rasterize Type and use SHIFT + Down Arrow to move the duplicated text under the original.
Grab one of the brush in the Debris Brush set, use a colour match the background colour (in this case it's white), then use the lasso tool with 100px feather to draw a selection in the area you would like to break apart, simply paint over it:
You can see the result of my work - this template. It took me 8 hours to draw this template. You wiil be able to recreate this template in 1 up to 2 hours using my instructions and possessing the basic experience of work in Photoshop.
Along the way, we will use various layer blending options plus filter effects for the text. It`s a simple tutorial suitable for Photoshop beginners.Take a look
Now we're going to mask out the selective grayscale effect so that it's only affecting the background. Select the Eraser tool from the toolbar and in the option bar on the top, set the Hardness to 75.
You might have noticed that the computer games market is saturated with a lot of good games and ballyhoo names. Perhaps the best representative of FPS is Half-Life. So the creating of logo for Half-Life will be described in this tutorial.
In this tutorial I will show you some unique effects to try on your photos. For this tutorial I am using an image from sxc.hu, you can access the photo directly by clicking this link.
Black and white layer command is a great new feature added in Photoshop CS3, which lets you convert a color image to grayscale while you have full control over the color being converted. You can also apply a color tint to the image.
In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial, we're going to learn how to simulate the look of infrared photography in Photoshop. We'll be taking a look at Photoshop's Channels palette and seeing how to isolate a color channel as well as how to apply filters to color channels, we'll be using adjustment layers, specifically the Channel Mixer adjustment layer to adjust how much impact each individual channel has on the image, we'll be using a few different layer blend modes, adding some noise, and at the end, seeing how to bring some of the color from the original image back into the effect.
Step 2 Before we start, we need to convert the layer into a Smart Object. Right mouse click on the layer and select "Convert to Smart Object". Now that we have a smart object, we can perform nondestructive filtering to the image (We'll talk more about this later).
You can use one of your pre-installed fonts, however if you don't think you've got the right font, draw your own using the pen tool. For the shape below I used franklin gothic font set to 800 px in size. Then converted the text into a path, and modified the individual points using the direct selection tool to a shape I was happy with. Next, I turned the path into a live selection. Lastly I filled that selection with the color black in a new layer.
In the Layers palette, click on the new adjustment layer button and choose Black & White. The Black and White option is only available in Photoshop CS3. If you are using Photoshop CS2 or older, choose Hue/Saturation instead.
If you want to place an image in the vanishing point plane, first copy the image in the clipboard. To confine vanishing point results to specific areas of the image, either make a selection or mask the area. You can even copy the image in perspective and paste in another document. To preserve the perspective, copy the item in vanishing point in one document and then paste it in another document while in vanishing point.
[2]-Now fill the Background Layer with any color with the help Alt+Backspace & after that create the following selection with the help of Elliptical Marquee Tool
Step1: Setting up the workspace. Create a new image 800 x 600, and set the background color to Dark Gray #545655. Create a new layer, Layer New Layer... (Shift+Ctrl+N). Click on the Rounded Rectangle tool , using the dimension below
After some pretty successful tries with glaming up the photos such as Goth Gmalour and Pure Glamour effect, I thought I'd make a small tutorial about it, since Johan requested it so nicely
Step 3 Next go to Filter>Stylize>Wind and choose Method: Wind and Direction: From the Right. Press Ctrl+F to apply this effect a few more times. it should then look like this:
Repeat the process as before to crack the entire text. You will have a lot of layers on your hands at this point. One by one, select the layers on which the individual pieces reside and using the arrow keys, nudge them up and down and to the sides (with Move Tool selected). The spaces we are creating will allow the light to filter through.
The Hue/Saturation tool will appear. First, checkmark the Colorize option near the bottom right corner. Copy the settings from the image below then click OK.
Note: This tutorial is written for Photoshop CS on a Windows XP platform and assumes you have a basic knowledge of Photoshop. However, this technique will work on most versions of Photoshop or similar graphics package.
I began tinkering last night with pretty good, but not perfect, results. I was thinking that maybe some famous political figure should be my first test subject. The first person I thought about? Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Oily and Shinny Text Effect tutorial?? by Lorelei (me!) was originally posted on www.loreleiweb.com The tutorial remains a copyright property of Lorelei ?? 2009.
Step 1: Open any Previous image (Probably with mild colours e.g. Scenery, Grass etc) Step 2: Filter ?> Stylize ?> Wind (Wind, From the Right/Left) Step 3: Press Ctrl+F to repeat? Press again if you want
2) Now open up second photo called "moon". Using same methods as in the previous step we have to select only the moon, without its background. I once again used Calculations command and this time I used red and green channel with subtract like in the picture below I renamed Alpha1 into moon_selection. To ease our work with selection I now applied Levels command (CTRL + L) and set these values Now pick Brush tool, select white for foreground color and make that grey areas inside moon white. And now we have our selection saved as a channel. Let's go to the next step
Although it is a commercial font family, this variant is free. You will have to add it to the shopping cart and follow the instructions. At the end of the order process you will not have to pay anything for it.
Use the color black with a pencil and brush and draw on our "Original" layer with the mask as close to the picture as you can get without drawing on the penguin's body or the pictures white frame. Normally we could use the magic wand tool for this step if the color separation was better - or inverse color selection for those that really know your Photoshop tricks - but this little guy has some stubborn color separation, so we're just going to use this method. Again, get it as close to him and the frame as possible without drawing over them.
Start off by duplicating the default layer (CTRL+J) as Layer 1. Reduce brightness of duplicate image by dragging center point of the Curves tool (CTRL+M). Duplicate Layer 1 as Layer 1 copy. Go to Filter > Radial Blur > Zoom : 80. Set the blend mode for Layer 1 copy as 'Multiply'. You should get something like this: Now, create a new layer (Shift+Ctrl+N) and name it as storm. Go to Filter > Render > Clouds. Next up, select Filter > Render > Difference Clouds. Apply the same filter (Ctrl+F) several times (preferably 5 times or above). Bring out the Levels Window (Ctrl+L) and apply settings until you see lumps of clouds appearing (Input Levels: 30/0.75/175). NOTE: Results/settings may vary as each clouds/difference clouds rendered may differ. Once done, set storm's blend mode to 'Color Dodge'. Transform (CTRL+T) and scale the image. You can also adjust the perspective a little, based on the nature of your chosen image. Press Enter to apply the transformation. Next, we should remove areas which are too bright. Follow these sub-steps: 1) Go to Windows > Channel (to bring out the channels window). 2) Hold CTRL and click on Red channel (to make a selection). 3) Go to Select > Inverse (or press Shift+CTRL+I) to invert the selection. 4) Go to Select > Feather (or press CTRL+ALT+D) and set radius : 10 pixels. Click on the masking tool to hide the brighter parts of the layer. Select layer mask of 'storm' layer and further adjust the levels (CTRL+L) until you have something like this (Input Levels: 0/1.70/180): NOTE: Again, results/settings may vary as each clouds/difference clouds rendered from previous steps may differ.
All keyboard shortcuts are for PC. I don't have a Mac, but as far as I know the main difference is use of the COMMAND key and OPTION key on a Mac instead of the CTRL key and the ALT key on a PC.
What we need to do before we do this is to actually pack our layers into one layer. This is called Merge Layers and can be found in the Layer menu.
The first thing you'll want to do is create a new document by going to [File > New] or pressing [Ctrl + N]. When the New Document dialog opens, set the Background Contents to [Transparent]. The dimensions settings will depend on the size of the line you want to create and the amount of space between the lines. For this first example I'll just be using 1-pixel wide lines spaced 1-pixel apart, so my dimensions will only have to be 3px x 3px.
Now Duplicate that layer (Ctrl J), Load the Selection of the duplicated layer (Ctrl click on layer) and press Ctrl T to get in free transform. Now go into the percentages box Now go into the percentages box and set them to 40%, both, height and width.
1. First, open the image you want to apply this effect to and adjust the image resolution to low (72 pixels). Image resolution is found under Image menu, choose Image Size and click. 2. Next, go to the Layer menu and click Duplicate Layer.
