I have been struggling to make a CD cover for the whole day before I stumbled onto your page. Great tutorial, crystal clear instructions. Thanks. 6. CD Logo
[...] CD cover design In this tutorial we learn some original Photoshop techniques through the creation of a CD cover. Some useful methods of enhancing workflow and efficiency are shown like using smart objects. The image we are creating will be in the style of some of the Ministry of Sound CD???s. We will explore a creative use of the displace filter in order to distort some of the image. [...]
Since my experience was so positive, I decided to write a simple tutorial about designing and printing a CD label in Photoshop and Dymo DiscPainter. This tutorial is about the process of designing a label template for a collection of CDs. Although it is very basic, you should have at least a minimum knowledge of Photoshop layer management and a couple of other tools. This time I will not explain in fully detail the basic functions such as creating new layers, copying and pasting from one file to another, or typing text on the image. That would result in an endless tutorial.
Now find a picture of some sort, this could be a picture of band or a logo, place it over the cd and set the layer mode to linear dodge and opacity to 20%. Also add 2 circles in the middle of your cd, the smallest one being black and the biggest one being white, set the white circles opacity to 20%. You should end up with this. Step3: Hold CTRL and Click on the layer with the CD to select it. It should look like the image below. First of all you need to draw the shape of the cd using the Pen Tool ( ). I didn't use the pen tool when I draw this shape, but this is how I should do it now. Therefore the anchor points seams to be placed in strange places. 7. The last thing we are going to do is to add some Bevel and Emboss to the whole CD. Start by merging all the layerst (except the background layer). Double click on the the layer and add these settings: This week we are going to look at how to draw a CD in Photoshop 7. We will be using the new opacity options on the layer palette. We will also be using the fade fill command. Not too many people even know about this incredibly useful tool. Similarly create more shapes according to the topic of your CD ROM. We're creating a CD ROM for Horoscope software so we are placing suns and planets etc. You can also insert images too. Create clipping mask for all shapes. Now find a decent picture of Lindsay Lohan and put it in the center of your CD Cover. Rotate it a few degrees to match her name and the tape. Place that layer under the tape. You should now have something like this: Our next step is to edit this preset so that it looks more like a CD, instead of a rainbow. To do that, click on the Gradient image, which will bring up the Gradient Editor. Towards the bottom of the Gradient Editor you'll see some small boxes filled with the colors that make up the gradient. We're going to want to reduce the brightness of the colors that are already in our preset, and introduce a lot more gray. Double click on the small boxes to bring up the color pallet, and then change each color until they are similar to this picture: KODAK Photo CD 4050E-6 V3.4 - Ektachrome scanned on a 4050 film scanner KODAK Photo CD 4050K-14 V3.4 - Kodachrome scanned on a 4050 film scanner. KODAK Photo CD Color Negative V3.0 - Negatives scanned on an unknown scanner KODAK Photo CD Universal E-6 V3.2 - Universal Ektachrome scanned on an unknown scanner. KODAK Photo CD Universal K-14 V3.2 - Universal Kodachrome scanned on an unknown scanner. Now go ahead and click with your left mouse button somewhere close to 1, and move it to 2. You should get something like that:
and create another perfect circle, size of your preference. That is the shape that the circular text will have. |
