Erase the part of the layer which is covering the first layer as shown with soft brush. Our war text is ready :)

I tried to keep old photo look and therefore decided not to remove all the scratches and imperfections. Besides, I added a little color to increase the effect.

The two non-destructive methods I just covered are fairly common and you may already be familiar with them. But, in part 2 of the Photoshop Makes Peace Not War series, I will show you some lesser known and some CS3 exclusive techniques that will make your photoshopping projects a lot less of a pain in the ass.

5. Press Ctrl+C to copy the selected part of the image which should be the subject of the picture. 6. Click on File > Open and select the picture which you want to place the copied selection. 7. Press Ctrl+V to paste the image into the new picture as a new layer. 8. Click on your "Layer 1" and set the "Opacity" to 31%. You can adjust this number to suit your look and feel.
