1. Begin with a new file, I chose 300x150, but any size will work, fill the canvas with a dark color. Then take the Text Tool and type in your text. 2. Copy the Text layer (Layer > Duplicate Layer). On the top layer (we'll call this the "MERRY" layer), using the Text Tool, highlight and delete "CHRISTMAS". On the bottom layer (we'll call this the "CHRISTMAS" layer), using the Text Tool, highlight and delete "MERRY". This will leave you with the same text setup, but you can now make the words different colors. Finally, resize the "MERRY" text to 42 pt. Now apply a texture to your text. First apply a bevel and emboss effect. Notice in the settings below there is a highlight mode and a shadow mode. You need to reduce the highlights opacity to 0%, and the shadows opacity to 15%. Leave all other bevel settings the same. Then notice a couple of sub-options in your blending options menu - contour and texture. We're going to be applying the texture option. Check the texture box, and then select a default texture called 'satin' (see the settings for this below). This should make your text look more like wrapping paper. The effect that we want to use to make this text stand out is Bevel and Emboss. Used properly it can give us cool effects! Use the default colors and chose the right bevel filters as shown in the pictures below.
