Photoshop Tutorials » Tools » Dodge

[Please note that in Elements 1 the dodge tool is at the #24 position on the toolbar, grouped with the burn tool.] The dodge tool will lighten the pixels dragged over according to the percentage chosen in the tool?s options bar [see below]. You can choose to lighten highlights, midtones, or shadows. Each must be worked on separately; the tool does not work on all three at once.

Now i'm ready for color, chose the colour you want , and put it on the brush tool in presets. Use that with opacity lower than 50%

Make your way over and select the burn tool and set the brush size to one or two pixels. Now start to draw fine wavey lines or I like to just call them veins. Do it with both of the tools, burn and dodge. Now set your tools to a bigger brush size and start shading the sides and center of the orb.

Once you have set your layer to Color Dodge, go to IMAGE > ADJUST > HUE/SATURATION and there you can change its color.

Different blending modes are available right under the LAYERS tab. Color Dodge, depending on the opacity and lightness of the pixel, brightens and saturates the underlying pixels.

3.) On the duplicate layer, zoom in and brush the teeth and whites of the eyes with the Dodge Tool occasionally zooming out to see the effect.
