Using vibrant colors is the best way to make an image stand out, although getting the right balance is not always easy. Here we learn how to use lots of vibrant color to create a slightly abstract photo manipulation using pencils and fruit. We will learn how to use the pen tool effectively and also some freehand brushing which looks good.

Here we'll learn how to create an abstract photo manipulation that looks like you've just painted the subject. I've included lots of useful techniques for creating impressive abstract pieces, like using brushes, patterns and textures. I've tried to keep this simple but if you don't understand any steps then just skip it as not all of them are compulsory.

I just went through the tutorials Creating Medusa with photo manipulation, I think it was a wonderful programme and I am happy because it has actually help me to realise that a lot can still be done with still images and also can be transposed to animation. Please keep it up to help learners and beginners like myself

Then a select about 1/3 of the pattern from the left side using the marquee selection tool and go to edit > transform > skew, and move the corners upwards to create a cool perspective. I repeat this technique with the right third of my pattern image. The result is a nice 3d effect to my pattern.

In writing this tutorial I tried to cater for the requests for photo-manipulation and tutorials aimed at beginners. Please let me know if you liked it, or if you'd like to see something different either through the comments to this post or the poll below. I've got a couple more ani-morphing tutorial ideas lined up if you want to see them. They are more complex and in full color etc

Now repeat the technique used to get rid of the pattern overlay effect and turn your original grid into an object. Create a blank layer beneath your grid layer and merge it down. This will get rid of your drop shadow as a layer style, and will make it actually part of your grid object.

This tutorial will teach you how to create the piece 'Bionic Diver' using a range of techniques including photo manipulation, the clone stamp tool, the histogram, and many more!

Now to work on the wings. They are looking a little blurry compared to the woman, so I go to filter>sharpen>sharpen mask. I set the amount to 100, the radius to 4.5, and the threshold to 0. Then, I reduce the layer opacity to 75%. This is great, as it gives them a semi-transparent appearance, not only simulating a fairy's wings, but allowing the backdrop to partly show through. This is very important, as like I mentioned before, combining elements of your various photos really ties them together well.

Really great tutorial - good for people who are just getting to know photoshop (like me!) and goes to show how simple it can be to do truly amazing things. Thanks for sharing!

This tutorial will describe how to make a colorful photo manipulation using only four stock photos and a texture background. We'll look at using the Pen Tool, making colorful rainbow designs, and showing the correct way to pick out stocks to use in our photo manipulation.

In this tutorial, we're going to make a creative illustration in a style meant for a video game cover or sci-fi book cover. We'll create this with mostly photo manipulation techniques. With some cool Photoshop options you can turn all the photos you chose, into one stunning looking explosive cover.

The idea behind this work was to create a fantasy world. You will learn how to work with a few images and create a really interesting photo manipulation. I would also like to thank Loredana for working with me on this one.

It's a nice tut for showing photoshop's capabilities like the warp tool etc, but there are better ways to create water that you can transform like you want.

1. Here's some simple technique's to adjust or manipulate elements of color within a given photo. Tools used will be some adjustment layers and the extract tool, so follow along and have fun. Below is the original picture I will be using, courtesy of ablestock.com via NAAP membership.

As always the first step to photomanipulation is finding the right stocks. I like using waterscapes backgrounds because they always give a wonderful scene when combined with a sunset sky.

Hi I'm Alexis Papageorgiou a 19 years old german/greek student from Hamburg, Germany. I love and do design, movies and music and hope you can recognize this in my articles. You can contact me anyytime at aloa[at]abduzeedo.com .

In this tutorial we will examine the methods behind creating an image that contains a window to another world within it, as we smash a hole in urban life to reveal the jungle waiting in the wings. We'll look at several basic techniques that are the cornerstones of creating any mixed media composition, including simple transformations, creating clipping paths and layer masking.

Most people who uses Photoshop love doing a photo manipulation. Its really fun specially if your creativity are really working well and come up in some pretty good results. Talking about Photo Manipulation, Here is a tutorial where you will learn how Create a Cute Green Apple by manipulating some photos. Here's a quick preview on our tutorial for today.

Perspectives can be a little tricky. The first thing you need to do is look for stock images in various perspectives and see how you can mix and match them together. I'm going with something simple. I'll be using these 2 images. Model: http://liam-stock.deviantart.com and Bricks walkway texture is from the freebies section at renderosity.

Photo Enhancement Tutorial - Photo Manipulation Tutorial Photoshop Photo Manipulation Tutorials In this simple photoshop tutorial we will take an image of a woman and enhance photos with the use of simple photoshop tools such as the lasso, color correction, the color pallete and with the use of the air brush we will enhance the photograph using simple photo manipulation techniques. This photo enhancement tutorial will teach you how to beautify a womans face with makeup.

This tutorial was written by Eduardo Nora, or Krinos from deviantART. He is a learning graphic designer and enjoys making photo manipulations.

Start with a large black canvas, in your layers window make a new layer set and name it Dark Photo Manipulation. Insert the picture below into your canvas as your starting point.

In this tutorial, we???re going to create a fantasy photo manipulation mixing different images and learning to use and modify the stock images in a creative way. The idea is to get a compact image that looks absolutely real, and at the same time, absolutely impossible!

In this tutorial, we???ll manipulate a picture so it looks like a woman burning in flames. The idea behind this manipulation was to create a nice looking illustration, only by using simple techniques and tools such as the Brush tool and Warp command. I hope you enjoy the tutorial and try it with your own stock imagery.

This tutorial will be a little different than all the other tutorials I wrote. Here I will teach you some basic things about Photomanipulation.

I hope that you liked this tutorial. The steps are quite basic, but hopefully this can provide a start to basic photo manipulation for Photoshop beginners.

12. Now use an 80px soft eraser to erase any places that mess with her face etc. She's a sexy queen remember:

Open the photo and sharpen the background layer Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen. Fade the sharpen to 65%, Edit > Fade Sharpen.

Now, you may have gotten the impression so far that I can't stay put working on just one area of this image. You'd be right, I do like to dart around and work on one area a bit, then come back to it later. The important thing is that this just doesn't matter too much with photo manipulation. Just work on an area until you get bored, and then feel free to come back to it later, just keep improving your image over time. So without further ado I'm going to start making these 'light lines' look a little better!

Now paste in a photo of a man walking. Be sure to cut him using the lasso tool or pen tool. Position him so that he looks to be walking off the edge of one of the platforms.

Now open up a new photo of some cables. Select the cables using the lasso tool and then resize/rotate the image and fit it over the man's left arm. Use your lasso tool to cut away the edges of the cables so that they follow the shape of the man's arm. Then apply the hue/saturation and inner shadow settings shown below. Notice how the inner shadow effect not only makes the effect of wires under the skin realistic, but that it follows the shadows/lighting of the rest of the image.

These are pretty basic techniques, and a lot more can be done. However, for this stage of the work it's really sufficient to get the various photos blending together fairly well.

9. Now duplicate one of the text layers, and do a filter>pixelatte>fragment, and then press ctrl+f to do this filter again, and then duplicate the layer and press ctrl+e to merge down, now you have another digital binary sort of layer you can play with, since this is alot softer you can put more of these on your girl, I played with the opacity, and locations... I also put on over my inital binary. like so:

18. There isnt much else you can do but play with the level of the original or the duplicate layer of your dream girl, but i hope you can use your skills to great something like this:

6. To add more feeling to the photo, go to layer > new adjustment layer > gradient map and made a black & white gradient map. Change the layer mode for this layer to Luminosity and leave the opacity in tact. Repeat step 4 with the eye color part, you may want to use a lower opacity though, and a different color for the brush.

2. Take Your Elliptical Marquee Tool. And select the Pupil of the eye. Right click and select Copy. Then right click it again, and copy it again.

5. Now open the image that you would like the eye to reflect. and using the Elliptical Marquee tool, make an "Eye-Shaped" selection on your image.

5. Now Drag your cat eye picture into the center of the marquee selection. (Note: You should be taking the cat eye picture from a whole different picture and dragging it onto your eye picture. These should not be in the same layer palette before you drag in.)

Close that picture, and go back on the first picture. It's time for another picture, the picture which we will use for tattoo. So, open any picture, take the Move Tool (V), and using drag and drop technique move that picture on the original picture (picture of face). Look at the picture below!

To start your own 'grunge' manipulation, I recommend that you select a picture that already has a dark feel about it.

This tutorial will introduce you to some basic photo manipulation techniques. All the images are scaled down in this tutorial, the higher resolution - the better it looks when scaled down. I have already scaled them down to about 50%

Create a new document in Adobe Photoshop with the size 360x600 pixels. Drag the picture which you saved in this new document and place it at the bottom. Draw now a rectangle in a new layer with a light blue color like #7AB5FD; set the "blending mode" for this layer, in the Layers Tab, to "Soft Light":

First you will need an image. It is best to use an image you have taken yourself or an image that you have permission to use. The following image was grabbed from Photobox.ru (free stock image site). Why on earth would I want to disfigure a baby? Well, it is the first image I grabbed when I opened Photoshop so quit complaining. ;-) Plus, if you plan on disfiguring something, better make it stand out...

It is important that you experiment. As with many of these Photoshop tutorials, there is no right or wrong way to accomplish the task at hand so your creativity will play an important factor. =]

Preferable work with a zoomed photo, to make sure your hand won't move in you will create a good round shape. this is the result after 50% midtone burn:

1. Here's the starting photo. A church in my neighborhood, surrounded by lush trees.

This is what I used to do on my first Photoshop days and still do sometimes. It does sound noobish but that is why other people post stuff they make on the Internet, so you can use them. This topic is to easily teach you how to make a very nice start for a photo-manipulation work of your own. I am not gonna draw anything, just tell you. There are many free resource websites out there related to image-editing and why not take advantage of them ? The most popular, from what I enjoy, is DeviantArt so we are gonna use it as the main example.

Using a Gradient Map to make your image black and white is better than simply desaturating the image, as you'll lose contrast that way.

FINAL IMAGE

First, activate the transform tool by pressing Ctrl+T or choosing Edit > Free Transform. Then, choose Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical. Press enter to exit out of the transform tool. If you don’t activate the transform tool before you flip the image, it’ll flip all the layers instead of just the layer that you are working on.

1) Prepare the pictures that you want to combine in your work - I chose a picture of Wawel (great place in Cracow / Poland) made by my friend Jedrek Kostecki.

Thanks you very much Ross,

First off we have to gather our project assets, but that means one must clearly have the idea of the graphic set into one's mind. For this tutorial I went for the popular person in the air with stuff around it type of design with a twist. But more on that at the end of the tutorial. So I went to the good ol' boys of SXC which have been life savers on countless times for me and I imagine plenty of other designers.

In the blending options, move the black input slider towards the right until the sky disappears.

In the center of the window is the workspace and preview. Working with the liquify tool is like working with clay. Imagine that you are creating a clay figure that you can smudge and distort it in the way that you want. This is how it works, more or less.

Remove the white background of the snake using the Pen Tool (P). Use the Free Transform (Ctrl +T) to resize the skull to an appropriate size . The intention is to make the snake twirl around the lions cane.
