Learn how to easily create a unique horror style text effect in Photoshop using only Layer Styles and the Horizontal Type Tool.

Emma, Thank you! Actually, there are a few of the photoshop brushes I plan on down loading, including...The Trees, Geometries, stars, and Butterflies. (I hope that's ok?) :) You provide a wonderful opportunity here, and for free, which to me, makes it all the more special. I thank you for your generosity and kind heart. :) I also wish you a very healthy and happy holiday season too. :) ~ZZ

Halloween is fast approaching, and I only thought it appropriate that we'd have a collection of horror/halloween related brushes. Zombies, bats, grave yards and skulls all included! As for usage, they probably won't be very useful in web design, but they can be used to create some amazing vintage-styled movie-like posters if you want:

I lover horror movies, but I love comic books even more. So, when I stumbled across the portfolio of Mariano Villalba, I was really excited. He has a way of adding in a touch of horror and darkness to everything he does, but without it being over the top. Think Sin City style darkness, but with more color and creativity. website

Tools always come in handy. For instance, if you are designing an online-store you may need some easily recognizable tool icons to indicate some categories. And this is where this set, designed by David Mottram, may help you out. This set contains 8 free icons (bookmark, caliper, gear, hammer, screwdriver, toolbox, tools, window) in the format .png in resolutions 6464px, 128128px and 256256px.

In a new layer create a small white rectangle. This will be the main shape for the metal insertion between each navigation.

You're finished! You can change the settings around to get different effects, but now you can make that old horror comic book text!

In this tutorial, you will learn how to convert a person's image into a horrifying image. Following is the end result.

Lately I've been noticing that many Photoshop artists are mastering the horror makeup techniques and believed that it was time to gather a nice (er, sort of) list of Photoshop tutorials filled with gore, splatter and blood. Some previews have been blocked just because the final effect was too explicit. Have some fun with your photos, but don't scare your kid brother too much, please.

Why using image ready there to make the animation. you can do it just as good using photoshop. this is a photoshop tutorial after all, isn't it ?

Step 1 - In this tutorial you are going to learn how to recreate a realistic horror scene. Open the original picture into Photoshop (a simple Google search will bring a lot more up as well!) Duplicate that layer (layer > duplicate) Pages: First 1 2 3 4 Last

5. Make a copy of the layer and place it under the text. Now your image should look something like this.

Now you can bring in the dried mud texture. Open the texture in Photoshop and drag it into your face document (it should be on top of all other layers). If your using the texture I supplied, its pretty big so you have to size it down. Temporarily lower the opacity of the mud texture so you can see what area of the mud you want over the face then hit Ctrl +T to bring up the transform tool, Scale an position the dried mud where you want it.

You can add more details. You can play a little with the liquify tool. this gives also good result when you are trying to change someone's face

Again group and merge the two layers. Now, use dodge tool . Set the range to Highlights and drag the tool over the eyes and lips. Our Horror image is ready :)

Ok, with the picture loaded up in Photoshop, double click the background layer in the layers palette to activate the alpha channel and name it Background. FYI If your not sure where the layers palette is, go to Window>Layers and select it to open the layers palette,  you'll see that the picture you loaded will be the background layer.  Select the pen tool and set it to path in the above tool bar. Zoom in on the face to about 300% and trace around the face with the pen tool.

Step 1: First open any image.

General Blending

In a new text layer type out your name in white color shade.
