In this tutorial we will work with paths on text to alter it. We will alter parts of the text along straight lines to convert it from the before picture to the after picture below.

20. With the Direct Selection tool, click on and drag the left corner point down to just above the top right corner point of the x keeping in line with the angle of the x and leaving just a small space between the points. Then click on and drag the right corner of the t down to just above the left corner of the same part of the x. Don't worry that the lines cross, we will fix that.

Surely when you talk about improving your workflow you would a lot better to define a new pattern for the 45???? lines, then you wouldn't have to copy and paste them and you could also keep the pattern for use in the future. I don't know if you had thought of this or there is a reason you didn't do it but its definitely a lot more efficient.

Create a new layer set and name it 'Abstract Lines'. Now select the brush tool and set the size to 45 px soft brush. In a new layer paint a medium sized line with # 006C6A color shade as shown below.

Now, making quick, smooth strokes (a Graphics Tablet really can help), draw your groups of lines into your new layer (Video Below). With a mouse, you need to be sure to make fast flicks to create a smooth looking line. Alternatively, you can create dozens of paths with the pen tool, and then stroke those paths with a 1-2px white brush. This approach will almost alway look better, but is more time consuming.

Open the image you want to add the scan lines to. Or make a selection if you dont want to apply the effect to the entire image.

Starting with the design application of Adobe Illustrator create a group of vector based geometric lines at dynamic 45 degree angles, then follow the walkthrough to rough them up with brush textures in Adobe Photoshop resulting in a cool and trendy design style.

Using the Eraser tool, remove some parts of the wavy lines so that it seems moving between the dancers. Duplicate the Wavy Lines layer. Select the upper Wavy Lines layer, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Set the radius to 3 pixels and hit OK.

10. Your effect is basically done! Now you just need to apply it to one for your artworks, or digital renders from a 3d application such as cinema 4d. One effect I like to create with these looks like a combination of Particle effects and Contrails. You can see an example below:

This is a micro-tutorial about drawing interweaving tree branches. I do not claim this is the best way :-) but it works well for me.

10. Now duplicate your layer, and then filter> blur> gaussian blur (1.7) and then set the layer mode to screen. Duplicate this layer twice, and merge twice. You should have a nice glow on your outlines.

Create a new layer and name it as Glowing Dot. Using the Brush tool, set it to Airbrush 17 pixels and color #FFFFFF, paint a dot near the glowing lines you have drawn earlier.

We are going to need to create several images during this tutorial. This tutorial is a little complicated so if you have any questions you can email me. To start we are going to make a new image in photoshop using File/New and make it 100 x 100. We are going to need to turn on the grid by using View/Show/Grid and you will probably need to readjust it by using Edit/Preferences/Guide, Grids & Slices. I have my grid set to 10 pixels with 5 subdivisions. Next make sure your snap is on by checking View/Snap. Now grab the line tool and set it to like 1 pixel thickness. We are going to make lines at every subdivision step. Start from the lower right hand corner and draw 1 line into the bottom left corner. Do the same from the upper left corner going to the lower left. Next starting at the lower right draw a line from the corner to the first subdivision on the left side. Keep doing this until you get all the way over to the left side. The image below is what you should have.

7. Select the Straight Lines layer and the Perspective Lines layer (hold down Ctrl and click on this two layers) then move them above the 'Create a new layer' button in the Layers window to duplicate them. Press Ctrl+E to merge this two layers, then go to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical. Select Move Tool (V) and move this layer to the bottom part of our layout. Change the name of this layer into Bottom Lines.

8. Hopefully you can get more creative with yours than I have and make something better. Now, lets discuss polygon tech lines/brushes. For these, your main tool is going to be your polygon lasso tool:

In this tutorial, I???ll show you how to create some energetic lines you can use to create more lively digital creations. Effects such as this are great for enhancing abstract compositions!

6. Click on the "Rectangular Marquee Tool" and drag it over the photo. Now right click on the photo and click on "Fill" and set your properties to the image below. The "Custom Pattern" will be the one you just created. You can set your "Blending" options to what appears best for your photo.

Now take the Line Tool and set it to 1 px or 2 px depending on how big your text is; I used 2 px. Then hold Shift and drag a line wherever you want.

In this Photoshop tutorial we try to solve the problem using color samplers and a levels correction in combination with a mask. The healing brush will be used at one point, but only to make some very minor adjustments to the tan line itself.

I plan to place a few photos on top of each other in each section of my clothesline (see the final example at the bottom of the lesson), so I'm going to start by choosing photographs that I'm not concerned about seeing in my final product.

Enable lock transparent areas at the top of layer palette. Select gradient tool. Take default spectrum gradient and apply on the butterfly in radial mode.

Line Separators are easy to make but they look really cool, so... Watch it, learn something, and try to manipulate it into something awesome!

Next create a new layer and make the selection similarly to the previous step, but this time do it under the line. Set the Foreground color as black and run several gradients top-down with the same settings as in previous step. Don't forget to deselect.

This tutorial will show you how to turn a photo into a drawing and adding a lil jazz to the image.

3. Now that you have all the settings ready, you drag a straight line (hold shift to make it 90 degrees) Draw the line from the bottom to the top. Now your done. Only thing I did was to add some small dots on it :) Now try out your own gradients. Play with the settings, colors and the way the gradient is set up ;)

This tutorial is short, but is very basic. The opacity line skill is one of the most popular techniques used out there in the designer world. A lot of people who are new to photoshop want to know how to do this technique, so here is the tutorial.

It is often necessary to add separating lines when creating a layout. They can be of different types but all of them have one function: to separate one block of information from another. In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to create an unusual separating Line.

Hey There Creating a dotted line in Photoshop is quite hard, but it can be done, and it is really easy to do. All you will need is Photoshop and 5 minutes. You can click any of the images to see the full size. Step 1) Open up the brushes and select the advance options pallet. Step 2) Select brush tip shape and select a small brush. 5 pixels is a good size. Step 3) Untick everything, smoothing is usually the only one enabled. Step 4) But spacing up, the more you space it the bigger the distance between the dots. Step 5) Apply to what you want, you now have a dotted line. You can resize it and blur it just like a normal brush.

Next, create a new folder on top of all the layers and name it "circles." Also, create a new layer into this folder and use my settings for the Brush Tool (B) and the same color you used for the line art #f8efde.

4) After that, select the whole document ( Ctrl+A) and then go to the Edit menu > Define Pattern. Give a name for your pattern and then press OK. 5) Go back to your image file. 6)Next, go to the Edit Menu > Fill...> Use drop down menu> Pattern > Custom Pattern > Select your pattern. Your Horizontal Line Patern over your image should look like this:

2. Click Filter=> Blur=> Smart Blur. Smart blur allows us to create line drawings. we can determine the number of lines by setting a threshold, or a value that determines what differences in colors will give us a line. 100% difference is like black and white so where black and white meet, you will get a line, or blue and orange. The radius will tell the program how far away are you measuring the color differences. On this image we will set the following:

1) First, open your line art and give a significant name to the layer. I use "Line Art". Then, set this layer to "Multiply". I suggest you work on a high resolution if your computer can support it. For this particular picture, I worked at 300 DPI. The picture size was 10,13 x 18 in (3039 x 5400 pixels). The higher is the better!

In this Photoshop tutorial I'm showing a recently discovered technique that I haven't seen anywhere else and that's the reason why I'm sharing it with you. The technique is based on two filters:

This Adobe Photoshop tutorial will turn your photos into line art with just a few quick steps. You find that this tutorial works well for most objects !

Want to turn a photo of someone into line art. This Photoshop tutorial will show you how to create comic-book-perfect line art. - Melissa Clifton

STEP 1: Separating the line art STEP 2: Adding colour STEP 3: Adding depth and highlights STEP 4: Colouring the line art STEP 5: Finishing touches

I use photoshop CS2, in photoshop 7 also, this effect can be made. Open the image in photoshop. In the layer window you will have one layer named background(locked), no need to touch this layer. now press ctrl+j, this will make a duplicate copy of the current layer(background).

Learn to create a dotted line brush, turn you shape to a dotted line, create a cool dotted line border in this tutorial just like an image above.

1. Scan image and clean it up in Photoshop. Basic clean-up can be accomplished by increasing the contrast and using desaturate to remove colors. 2. Double click on the Background layer to make it Layer 0 3. Change the layer mode to Multiply (this makes all of the white areas transparent) 4. Create a layer and place it behind Layer 0 (layer 0 should always be on top) 5. Color in the sky on this new layer. Don't worry about coloring in the lines, everything else will built up on this 6. Color in the pavement on a new layer (each new element should be a new layer). Just make sure it does not go past the top of the store walls. Note: I like to use gradients to add a little depth

What we want to achieve with our line art is solid black lines, so we need to remove any grey marks that may have come in with the scan. It's like a laundry detergent commercial... "make the whites whiter and get rid of any dirty marks". There are several techniques for doing this but I find adjusting the curves works really well.

You'll see a nice curve over our text. Click on Delete key on your keyboard so we delete our path bacause we won't be needing it anymore.

3) Now go to EDIT > DEFINE PATTERN. This will set this as the pattern.

For this painting, I exclusively used a hard edged brush (the sample in the middle). To make a simple hard edged brush in Photoshop, simply follow these settings:

Photoshop Tips -improvements -effects >>more

Open your picture Choose measure tool from Photoshop tool pallete.

Set your grid to the specifications shown.

Its only a Photoshop action to extract lines from black and white draws, its the common way we use to color comics... much better in my opinion than the other way (putting the lineart at the top of the layers in multiply mode), with this one you can color the lines.

This tutorial will demonstrate how to make some eye-catching colored lines to accent your logo.
