Great man! I've been struggling to find a simple volume slider for my videoplayer, and this works great! The only thing I had to add was a onReleaseOutside function but other than that - superb! /PH [Sweden]

The first line of that is telling flash that everytime the 'sound' sound object stops to run the code between the curly braces. I have just put the same code as we used before to start the sound. So every time the sound finishes playing it will start again.

Thats all. Test your movie and Enjoy! |

While Flash cannot exactly create true multi-channel surround sound with just one sound clip, it comes pretty close by utilizing the left and right channels to make an "enhanced" stereo effect. First, as many of the other tutorials, the source file has to be downloaded to make the task easier. |

You can now align all your movie clips and buttons according to your design requirements on your canvas. |
Why use ActionScript when frame based sounds work perfectly? While sounds controlled by frames work perfectly also, you do not get the level of control over the sound as you would when using ActionScript. By using ActionScript, you are able to change the sound's speaker directions, pans, volume, and more. Best of all, you can create virtual sound environments by using various random numbers and values that change how your sound feels throughout your animation.

Select the PolyStar Tool from the Tools panel. In the Properties panel, click the Options button. Choose star from the Style menu. Enter 25 in the Number of Sides field and .30 in the Star point size field. Click OK.

Flash is capable of only playing .mp3 files and no other sound format. Playing an .mp3 file is an easy task that can be performed using the Sound Class. The Sound Class can play internal sounds (mp3 files imported into an FLA file) or external sounds (mp3 files loaded by the SWF at run time). We are going to start by playing an internal .mp3 file imported into the Flash movie.

This last is called "Import" and it can be done with sound, graphics, and even with other Flash movies. Hence, to import, you just notify Flash to add a determined file to our movie for use it whenever you want. In fact, the file is added to our Library, that is the Panel in which are all the objects that contribute in the movie (we'll see this Panel further).

In the Control Layer, place your buttons in frame one. Now, Insert a KeyFrame on frame two, creating a duplicate of the first frame - this allows for a seamless transition from Frame 1 to Frame 2. |

loader.html - This is the HTML file that is created by loader.fla. It is where a user will point their browser to view our test site. loader.fla - It contains the action scripts used to load all of the movies into their correct levels and get things started. It also contains the menu buttons which let the user navigate between the content sections. This lets us load the navigation for the site only once. This movie will be on level 0. conductor.fla - It contains the actions scripts that will control the sound. It also will be used to hold variable information about weather or not the user has "muted" the sound, what soundtrack is supposed to be playing, and what soundtrack is currently being played. It also contains text fields that display the current value of these variables. This movie will be on level 2. section1-4.fla - These 4 movies represent the various content of our test site. They each contain action scripts that control the conductor, a mute button, and a button that allows the user to stop the movie independent of the soundtracks. These movies will all be on level 1, but only one at a time. test1-2.fla ? These movies each contain a soundtrack based on the killersound, inc. technique discussed in "Layering Audio in Flash®; The killersound Technique". These movies will be on levels 3 and 4, one for each soundtrack. |
6. Choose "Movie" > "Insert Flash Designer Clip" and insert "equalizer.sfd" file. Choose "Item" > "Placement Properties" and check "ActionScript Target" |
We won't be adding any effects to the sound for this tutorial, but you can play with them later on. Set the loop to 100, or a number that you think will suffice for your Flash File. |

Using the enhanced ActionScripting features of Flash 5®, it is now possible to create some truly interactive audio effects, for example volume and panning controls. This tutorial will explain how to use sound objects, Smart Clips and ActionScripting to create an interactive 3 band graphic equalizer effect with volume control. |
Often, you need to take a sound as you find it unless you have software that can manipulate sounds. Luckily, you can set the specs of sounds when you publish your movie to an .swf file. You generally get the best results by starting with high-quality sounds and compressing during publishing ( Information from Flash CS3 for Dummies ebook) |
Before a sound can be used it must be imported. Choose "Movie" > "Import Sound". Flash Designer supports WAV and MP3 sounds. To display currently loaded sounds choose "Movie" > "Sounds" command. |
|
In Flash 8, as well as in Flash MX 2004, we can publish all referring to the sounds from the Properties Panel. Here we have all that is necessary to insert, modify and edit the sound that we terminate to import. If we have not imported any sound, we will notice that we cannot select anything in this panel, it's enough to insert it in order that it changes. |
