I saw a tutorial by a guy who does something very similar to this, then actually traces it, with help from the BLEND tool, to have a perfect vector halftone (made up of perfect circles). It's only realistic for straight, square halftones…not fancy photos or anything:

Ok on request here is how you achieve a half tone effect here only i used the shape of a circle. If you want it around a specific shape you must copy the outline of that shape and repeat the same then increase the size of the same shape, with reversal of colors you can get different effect enjoy! 5. To make it look like Cops logo color text yellow and make an outline. For outline like here copy the text, color it black and apply Object -> Path -> Offset Path with 0,05 in Offset. In Layers palette move the outline layer under the text layer. Move the points that stick out too much. |
