How to Bulk Unsubscribe from Emails in Gmail

It often amazes me at how fast my email inbox can get cluttered. In fact, we can spend the majority of our working day managing email. While I am sure that is productive at some level, there are many rabbit trails we are taking.

We should start seeing emails as potential distractions. Just like when some one interrupts you at work when you are “in the flow.” The same can be said to what happens to use in our inbox.

I do recognize that not all email is bad. If you have a favorite blog, you might enjoy receiving a regular dose of email. For instance, every morning during the weekday, I receive an email about the latest post on MichealHyatt.com. Most of the time I take a few minutes to read because it often relates to me in some way.

Still, we are constantly bombarded by many others without even realizing it.

How to Bulk Unsubscribe from Emails in Gmail

I am a big user of gmail and for several reasons. It manages both my personal and professional life. In the past week, I decided to start doing a better job of keeping me inbox cleaned out. However, I found that I was constantly battling advertisements from previous products I had purchased.

I needed help in the battle. I was getting tired of opening these messages and scrolling to the bottom of each one in an effort to hit the unsubscribe line. That is when I remembered about unsubscribr.com.

How to bulk unsubscribe from emailIt is a simple online software tool that will scan your gmail account and bring back all of the emails that have an unsubscribe option. It places all of those emails in one nice long list on your screen. You can then go through and decide which ones to keep and which ones to unsubscribe.

I was surprised to find out about some email lists I was on. A few that I unsubscribed from were 1-800-contacts, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million and several others.

The free version of Unsubscribr goes back as far as 5 days in your gmail inbox. You can pay a one time fee of $2.00 to go back up to 30 days. Seeing how well it worked for me, I may just go back and pay for the upgrade. If you are battling  at keeping your inbox cleaned out, then give this service a try.

Oh, just one more thing. Avoid unsubscribing from “Simple Life Habits” if at all possible. :)

    Jonathan,

You just saved my day :)

I was wondering if there was a tool like this – and there is.

I went ahead and paid for the premium version – and now I’m subscribing from all sorts of lists.

    Thanks for the tip :)

    Cheers,
    Timo

Nice! It is surprising how much junk email you can accumulate quickly. That is for sure!
