Finding a place to keep your images can be a bit tiresome and 'too much trouble'. However, when faced with the alternative, a complete loss of all your digital pictures, it is something that anyone with more than a few images, should do.
Edit Steps
- 1Think about what your needs are. Ask yourself some questions.
- Will this be just a place to put them?
- Do you want some method in place that you can display them if you choose?
- Do you want to pay for something? If so, how much?
- 2Have an idea of where your images are and how many you have. A megabyte, a gigabyte, or several gigs worth.
- 3Use your favorite search engine and start to look. Some useful search parameters might be: image storage photograph. You might also add free if that is a concern.
- 4Check out ease of use and reviews.
- 5Ask around to see if someone knows of a site.
- 6See if there is a limit. You will want to know if there is a limit for total amount stored and also for the maximum amount uploaded in a given day.
- 7Check to see if the site allows 'hot linking'.
- 8Find out if they are compatible with any particular software. Some software allows you to directly upload through them. This goes for album software and graphic editing software.
- 9Consider file storage. This might not be conducive to sharing your photos, but it will, hopefully, keep your images safe.
