The world is full of contours. If you look at any maps and see those lines that demote elevation, you are looking at contour lines. Read this article to learn how to create contour lines using SketchUp.
Edit Steps
- 1Click on the Add Imagery icon. Go to wherever you want to get your contours from in the screen that comes up.
- 2Draw a rectangle that is the size of the contours that you are creating.
- 3Click on the Move tool and holding down CTRL and make a copy and make sure it is directly above the previous layer. Type in the number that you want for contour lines. Depending on how big an area it is, you will want to adjust the measurement. A small area, use 10', a large area, you might want to go with 50' or 100'.
- 4Type on a number with x for how many times you want it repeated. You may find out you need more (or fewer) layers. Just retype in the number that you think will work. Do this until the material is fully encased.
- 5Select everything in the screen, right click, and Make Group.
- 6After you have the group made, click on the Eraser icon and run it over the image. This will create the image with all of its contour lines.
- 7Click on Windows >> Layers and click on the Google terrain layer so that it will be hidden.
