Edit Steps
- 1Tie a piece of twine or heavy thread to one area of the wreath form. (This will determine the "top" of the wreath, and also become the wreath hanger.)
- 2Put fabric into squares of about 3 x 3 inches.
- 3Insert a straight pin into the center a fabric square
- 4Holding the pin between your thumb and forefinger, push the pin into the wreath form. (See "Things You Will Need.)
- 5Place the next fabric-on-a-pin piece into the form very, very closely to the previous piece; then the next and so on until the wreath form is completely covered.
- 6With the palm of your hand, gently fluff the fabric tips.
- 7Add a ribbon or an ornament if you like.
- 8Hang your wreath where it will be enjoyed by your family and guests.
Edit Tips
- Fabric selection: If you use new fabric, select colorful fabrics of poly/cotton blends. If you are cutting up clothes for fabric be sure the fabric will not ravel at the cut edges.
- To minimize the risk of having the pins come loose and fall out, use a touch of white glue at the area where the pin protrudes the fabric.
- Try mixing red and white striped fabric, blue and white checked fabric, and solid white fabric for a patriotic 4th of July wreath; orange and black for Halloween, and small floral prints for Spring and Summer seasons! Use your imagination.
Edit Warnings
- This is a simple but time consuming project.
- Children should not do this without supervision of an adult.
Edit Things You'll Need
- Wreath form. Use a green Styrofoam wreath form. They are more dense than the white forms.
- Straight pins. Select pins with extra length and a "ball" head.
- Fabric. At least a yard, cut into 3 x 3 inch squares.
- Patience.
