Here is an alternative method for drawing Escher's cube - a cube that could never exist in real life. This time we use a highlighter pen to make things easier..
Edit Steps
- 1Draw a square with a highlighter marker
- 2Draw a second square intersecting with the first one. Make sure that intersecting squares create a third but smaller square at the center.
- 3Connect the upper-left corners of the two squares.
- 4Connect the lower-left corners of the two squares.
- 5Connect the lower-right corners of the squares.
- 6Connect the upper-right corners of the squares. Now you have a cube.
- 7Now we will turn this ordinary cube into an impossible one with the help of outlines. Draw outlines for front-left and back-right legs of your cube. You should only draw vertical outlines, not the horizontal ones.
- 8Draw outlines for the background of your cube at each side.
- 9Finish with a final outline all around the figure.
Edit Tips
- The thicker your highlighter, the easier it is drawing the outlines.
- You can try various color combinations.
- If you want a completely transparent cube, you can use a soft pencil instead of a highlighter pen and then get rid of the pencil marks with a good eraser.
- To have a perfect shape you can use a ruler.
