And, honestly, if you tell someone that your favorite AFI songs are singles ("Miss Murder", "Girl's Not Grey") or used in a music video ("Prelude 12/21) or even a song that is on their latest album ("Kiss and Control"), you will be called a poserrr. Sorry. And maybe when he said to stay out of the sun, he meant that as a reference to "Keeping out of Direct Sunlight" ? |

Yes that was a lame post... This should be labelled "How to get in on the AFI thing at this late stage", seeing as it pretty much outlines how to pretend you've liked them for ages... It's pretty sickening. AFI is great, get into them... but be ready to admit that you got into the when you heard Love Like Winter on the radio, instead of pretending you know what Shut Your Mouth and Open Your Eyes is... and stop loving Jade haha... |

the songs listed under the tips are just the catchy, pop-rock singles that AFI puts out. saying that miss murder is your favorite AFI song is like signing your own death warrant and handing it over to AFI's hardcore fan faction ("the despair faction") its also saying you're a scene kid that only goes with what's popular - that is, Miss Murder, Love LIke Winter (slightly. a good song, but its a single so if its your fav song, people will think you only like what youve heard on the radio) the same goes for the ninth 'instruction' - if you shouldn't call yourself emo to others, why make it your screen name? if you must pick a *poetic* screen name, make it lyrics from an AFI song - 'i cant help my laughter as they cry' or 'i shut my eyes to see' would both be apt names. a better song to list would be "Summer Shudder," or "6 to 8" which is about AFI's fans, and always a true fan's favorite. another song for the tips section might be "Fall Children" or "Halloween," as they are from AFI's most pouplar EP. |

AFI IS NOT AN EMO BAND. It is a punk/alternative band. Emo music is crap (in my opinion) and if AFI ever started playing emo music I think I might die!! By the way, Thanks D rae for the edits, it's slightly more realistic now. |

However, I will admit that the AFI fanbase can be cruel to newcomers. OKay, I'll admit it. I came in because of Miss Murder. But, as I listened to more, I found that there is so much more from them that is so much better, and I now officially hate DU. This article, however, is total bull. It's written by people from that first group, the group that makes me ashamed to wear an AFI shirt in public, and makes me uncomfortable telling people what bands I listen to, because I don't want to get lumped with the whiney "emo" kids who cut themselves just because it makes them more emo, and then go around wearing the scars as a badge.
