- 1Go to the Oracle Corporation website or call Oracle University at 1-800-529-0165. Find information on the curriculum, time frame and costs. Alternatively some consulting firms that are registered Oracle Partners also provide Oracle Certification for technicians and set up and maintain hardware and software interfaces for business. If these companies hire you, they will also train you. One such company is Fourcornerstone in Fort Worth, Texas.
- 2Choose your field of endeavor, from database and grids, to application servers, to PeopleSoft tools, or JD Edwards enterprise software. The direction you choose may be determined by your interests and your previous business experience. People beginning the training course should have an understanding of business operations through either experience in the financial, HR, IT or manufacturing end of a business. They should also have a familiarity with Oracle products and their application.
- Learning PeopleSoft Human Capital Management will qualify you to help companies increase efficiency and operational performance.
- Being certified in JD Edwards Enterprise One application will give you the tools to assist in such activities as capital asset management and real estate forecasting.
- Sun Solaris certification allows the consultant to assist businesses in managing storage pools and file systems.
- 3Learn the different requirements for each certification path. For most paths, the training will certify you to be a database administrator, implementer, programmer, developer or web administrator managing one of the scores of hardware and software packages Oracle provides.
- 4Find a learning format that suits you best. Oracle offers traditional classroom instruction, live virtual classes and self-study courses. The classroom education is offered at various sites around the world. The live virtual classes include traditional content and interactive learning. Classes are available day and night. Technical requirements of the live virtual classes require students to have a telephone headset or speakerphone, have Internet Explorer 6/7 (including service pack), and JavaScript and ActiveX controls enabled.
- 5Take a proctored exam at an Oracle testing Center or a non-proctored exam with Pearson VUE. Upon passing, you become an OCP, an Oracle Certified Professional. Oracle will send you an OCP Success Kit. You will gain the inside track for job opportunities with Oracle, with registered Oracle Partners and with any firm using Oracle database packages.
