The protractor in SketchUp can help your image be more precise. You can exactly match angles and create construction guides to help improve your work. Read this article to learn a little bit about the Protractor tool.

Edit Steps

    Open up SketchUp and create something. Something that has a few angles for you to measure.

    Click on the Protractor tool in the large toolbar. Be sure that you are on the proper surface. The protractor will work in all directions.

    Click once on the place that you want to start, such as the corner.

    Go to where the second click will be

    Move to where you want to start measuring the angle from. (Second click)

    Click to where you want to create the Construction guide or where you want to get the measurement and type in the number you want; e.g. 45 for 45 degrees. (Third click)
    • For a 45 degree angle, you would put in the 3rd click and then type 45 and hit the Enter key. This will give you the 45 degree angle you want.

  • To hold it to a particular surface, press shift. That way it will hold that particular side.
