Become a Recent Changes Patroller

Would you like to improve the quality of wikiHow? Anyone is welcome to become a Recent Changes patroller. Here's how:

Edit Steps

  1. 1
Review how to Patrol Recent Changes on wikiHow.
  2. 2
Bookmark important pages, such as wikiHow:Policy and Category:Templates.

    • Create MyLinks if you plan to patrol frequently.
  3. 3
    Follow the golden rules:

    • Assume good faith. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.
    • Skip edits if you're uncertain in any way.
    • Begin slowly, patrol safely, then pick up speed.
  4. 4
Ask to follow several seasoned patrollers.

    • Ask questions. Learn why each edit is corrected, undone or rolled back.
    • Learn how to tag articles and user's Talk pages.
    • Voice your opinion, if you don't agree, to gain a better understanding.
  5. 5
Patrol one area at a time.

    • Click on Recent Changes in the column to the right.
    • Click on Hide Patrolled Edits at the top of the page.
    • Select from the dropdown menu and click on GO.
    • User and Talk pages are easier than Discussion pages.
    • Article pages are more involved.
  6. 6
    Understand titles:

    • Article pages do not have a prefix preceding a title.
    • Discussion: followed by a title is the Discussion page of an article.
    • Request: followed by a title is a page requesting a topic.
    • User_Page: followed by a username is a page that identifies an editor.
    • User_Talk: followed by a username is a page used to communicate issues related to wikiHow.
